Chapter 213: 213. Splits

NOTICE:

This is Chapter 13! I accidentally posted it before Chapter 12. Sorry for the mix-up — please make sure to read Chapter 12 first for the story to make sense!

Asher and his employees sat in the office, with a heap of gold coins from the day piled in front of him. Kelly was jotting down the day’s profits in the ledger book, and when they finished counting the money made from dildos alone, the total came to 872 gold coins.

Freya’s eyes widened, sparkling with disbelief.

"So many gold coins!!" she exclaimed.

"Yeah, back off!!" Asher nudged her away. "You’re not part of today’s profits. You literally just showed up!"

"Aw... but I cleared the chaos outside!" she huffed.

"And nobody asked you to," he shot back, cutting her off. Freya pouted like a scolded child, and Asher turned to Banji and Kelly, his tone shifting to business.

"Alright, guys. I think it’s time we bring out everything we’ve got. Let’s split the shares and plan our next move. I want a bigger shop—maybe even open a few branches around the Kingdom!"

Kelly sprang up, energized. "Understood, Master! We’ll bring the rest of the money right away!"

Banji rose as well, and Asher watched as Kelly summoned a Dimensional Door. It shimmered into view like water rippling through the air. She stepped inside with Banji, and the portal dissolved, leaving Asher alone with Freya.

The moment the others were gone, Freya’s playful demeanor dropped. Her face turned serious.

"You’re progressing in the business quickly, aren’t you?" she asked.

Asher nodded, casually. "Just doing my best."

Freya looked through the office window if there were any lingering ears, then leaned in, her voice dropping low.

"How are you... dating a mother and her daughter at the same time?"

The question hit like a slap. Asher froze for a second, then instinctively leaned back.

"You know it’s rude to stalk people," he muttered, his tone more defensive than he liked.

"I wasn’t stalking," Freya replied coolly. "I was keeping an eye on you. I had to be sure you weren’t working with demons or anything."

"And...?" Asher asked, narrowing his eyes.

"And I found out you sleep with the Sword Master—and her daughter too! Don’t you think that might stir some tension between them?"

Asher gulped hard, then let out a long breath. "I broke things off with the mother."

Freya tilted her head.

"That doesn’t erase the past, Moonheart. You think broken ties mean clean slates? People aren’t strings you can just untangle. The truth has a nasty habit of surfacing, especially the kind that can shatter hearts."

"I know, okay?!" he snapped, louder than he intended. "I know. Just... don’t remind me. You’re the only one who knows about this, hopefully. So if you don’t say anything, the past stays buried—and nobody gets hurt! Simple!"

But even as he spoke, guilt started to weigh on him. He couldn’t imagine how Anna would feel if she ever found out about his relationship with her mother. He didn’t want to see her bright, innocent smile vanish into sorrow.

"Please..." he said, his voice low now. "Don’t tell anyone."

Freya stood up from her chair, her long blue hair flicking behind her as she walked over to him. She gently ran her fingers through his dark hair and forced his face upward to meet her gaze.

"I wont say a word. "She said softly. "But you can’t hide something with horns in a plastic bag, darling. The horns will rip through eventually. And when they do? The truth will bleed out."

She let go of his hair but didn’t pull away.

"I’ve been watching that girl. She really loves you. The way she kisses the bond-string on her wrist now and then... it’s sweet. It shows just how much she cares. If you break her heart, I’ll have no choice but to turn against you too."

Then she turned and walked back to her seat, letting her words hang heavy in the air.

Asher sat in silence, thinking. She was right. Anna loved him deeply, unconditionally. Her every action made that clear. But he couldn’t settle for just one woman. He was a harem king—a man who grew stronger the more women he conquered. One woman would never be enough. Still, how could he ever explain that to someone so delicate? So trusting?

He couldn’t—not yet.

For now, the truth would have to wait.

Suddenly, the Dimensional Door opened again, and from it, Kelly and Banji stepped out, helping the other to carry a heavy safe. They dropped it onto the table with a loud thud that made the whole table shake. Good thing women in this world had gorilla strength—they handled it with ease.

After carefully doing the math, they found that their total profit from selling wine, fruits, and dildos came out to 2,020 gold coins, even after deducting daily expenses.

"We made all this in less than two weeks since opening," Banji said, sounding stunned as he stared at the glimmering coins. "I never thought I’d see this much money in my life."

"We should consider converting some into platinum coins," Kelly added thoughtfully. "There’s a coin shortage in the kingdom right now. Probably because most of the coins are sitting right here with us."

"Platinum coins?" Asher raised an eyebrow. "Never heard of them."

"They’re insanely rare," Kelly explained, her eyes wide. "One platinum coin is worth a hundred gold. Only royals, nobles, or top-tier merchants ever use them."

Asher tilted his head thoughtfully. "Interesting... So, how do we get our hands on one?"

Freya crossed her arms. "It’s not that simple. Platinum coins aren’t just handed out. This world runs on politics and power. You need connections. But..." She glanced at him. "I might be able to hook you up with a merchant friend."

Asher perked up. "Please do."

"Her name is Veyna. She’s a—"

"Veyna?" Asher interrupted, brows raised. "The noble merchant who wanted to meet me? Do you know where she lives?"

Freya blinked, taken aback. "She asked to see you?"

"Yeah," Asher said, scratching the back of his neck. "Something about testing my skills or whatever."

Freya shivered slightly, arms wrapping around herself like a chill had passed through her. "B-be careful, Moonheart. Veyna’s like a python—beautiful, silent, but deadly. If you’re not careful, she’ll squeeze the life out of you. And as an up-and-coming merchant, you’re already on her radar. She won’t play nice."

Asher smirked. "Relax. I can handle a snake or two. So, will you walk me to this Veyna bitch before it gets dark?"

"Master!!" Kelly gasped. "You can’t just call her ’bitch’ like that! She’s S-rank! A top merchant!"

"Yeah, yeah..." Asher waved her off. "Anyway, how much should I pay you all for your services?"

Banji tapped her chin. "Well, since you’re providing the stock and doing most of the legwork, maybe... 5 percent each for Kelly and me?"

"Nah. Take 20 percent each. I’ll take 20 for myself, and the rest goes into the business." Asher shrugged like it was no big deal.

The room went silent for a moment.

"TWENTY?!" Banji nearly choked. "Do you have any idea how much that is?"

"Like... 400 coins or something?" Asher replied casually.

"It is!" Kelly squeaked. "I—I can’t take that much! It’s too much!"

"She’s right!" Banji added, eyes wide. "At least split it. Give us 10 each and put the rest into expanding—build more branches!"

Asher rolled his eyes playfully. "Fine, fine. Ten percent each. Kelly, handle the math, pay yourselves, and lock up the rest in the usual place. I’ll be back once I find someone willing to trade in platinum."

The girls bowed, stunned. Kelly especially felt like she was dreaming. Just days ago, she couldn’t scrape together two coins. Now? Two hundred in her hands for less than two weeks of work. She could buy a new cozy home, furniture, and even hire a maid to help with her kids. This boy... Asher. He was heavenly sent. She silently vowed to stay loyal to him, no matter what.

Freya rose and adjusted her cloak. "Well, since your royal treasury is sorted... shall we, Moonheart?"

Asher groaned. "Stop calling me that, you creep!." Then with a sigh, "Lead the way."

With a smirk, she pulled her hood up and stepped outside, Asher following close behind as she led him toward the estate of the ever-dangerous Veyna.
