Chapter 46: Bai Yansheng’s Conspiracy

On the other side, Bai Hanyun had already tied the antique mirror to a rope attached to a tree by the riverside. When she heard that Feng Xiyan was ready, she replied, "Alright."

With that, she tossed the antique mirror into the river without hesitation. The moment it submerged, it began to draw in water, creating a whirlpool on the surface of the river.

Seeing that the river was flowing as strongly as before and was not affected by the antique mirror at all, Bai Hanyun went back to the house and prepared to go to bed.

Meanwhile, clean river water gushed out from the mirror on Feng Xiyan’s side. The water flow was powerful, and it sprayed very far.

After confirming that the mirror was working properly, Feng Xiyan called out, "Feng Yi."

As soon as he spoke, Feng Yi appeared behind him, knelt down, and asked, "What are your orders, Master?"

"Send a team to guard the mirror. Make sure no one approaches it," Feng Xiyan ordered.

"Yes, Master."

After issuing the command, Feng Xiyan returned to the barracks. Once he had walked away, Feng Yi stood up and said, "Ten of you will stay here. Feng Wu, you will lead the team."

At his words, eleven masked men in black appeared. Feng Wu nodded, and the others clasped their fists and said in unison, "Yes, Commander."

With Feng Wu and his team guarding the mirror, Feng Yi disappeared from there.

Meanwhile, in the distant Xi Yang City, Bai Yansheng was having a secret emergency meeting with the other shareholders of the Bai Group.

Seated around a round dining table, one of the shareholders asked, "President Bai, what is your plan now? Are you really going to hand over the Bai Group to your daughter?"

Bai Yansheng’s expression darkened at the question. Taking a sip of Moutai Baijiu, he replied, "Bai Hanyun is no longer my daughter the moment she signed the relationship’s severance agreement."

Realizing he had misspoken, the shareholder quickly apologized. "Please forgive my slip of the tongue."

Setting his wine cup down, Bai Yansheng waved his hand and said, "It’s fine. The most important thing now is to find a way to acquire Bai Hanyun’s shares. As long as she holds 60% of the Bai Group’s shares, our plan can’t be started."

Everyone present was an experienced entrepreneur, and they understood the importance of having decision-making power in a company. Without it, they were nothing more than figureheads.

After hearing Bai Yansheng’s words, another shareholder sneered and said with a lower voice, "President Bai, since Bai Hanyun is no longer your daughter, how about we—"

He didn’t finish his sentence but made a slicing motion across his neck.

Seeing this, a cold glint flickered in the others’ eyes.

Lowering his eyes, murderous intent flashed in Bai Yansheng’s eyes as he thought, ’That is indeed the fastest way to resolve this problem.’

Having made up his mind, Bai Yansheng looked at the shareholder who gave the idea and said, "Then I will leave this matter to you. Make sure there are no traces left behind."

The shareholder smirked and replied, "Don’t worry, President Bai. I will make sure she disappears without a trace."

Hearing that, Bai Yansheng smiled, raised his wine cup, and said, "To our future."

The shareholders raised their wine cups in unison and echoed, "To our future."

At midnight, in the First Hospital’s branch located in Fu Cheng Town, Hua Yuyu’s phone rang. Not wanting to disturb his sleeping grandmother, he stepped out of the hospital ward.

Closing the door quietly behind him, he answered the call. "Hello?"

A second later, the man on the other end said, "Brother Hua, just as you predicted, someone has placed a bounty on Bai Hanyun’s head."

After signing the contract with Bai Hanyun, Hua Yuyu had asked his friends to keep an eye on underground assassin organizations. As he expected, the reason she needed a full-time bodyguard was because her life was under threat.

"Renyi, do you know who wants her dead?" Hua Yuyu asked calmly.

Lu Renyi replied, "I’m still investigating the client’s identity, but it will take time. The one who accepted the mission is the Bu Gui Pavilion. You know how mysterious they are. It won’t be easy to trace the client’s identity through them."

Hua Yuyu fell into deep thought after listening to what he said.

After a moment of thought, he said, "Understood. Please help me keep an eye on them. Let me know as soon as you find out who ordered the bounty."

"Got it."

After ending the call, Hua Yuyu glanced at his sleeping grandmother through the vision panel on the hospital ward’s door.

Clenching his phone tightly, he thought, ’Looks like I have taken on a troublesome mission. I need to make preparations before meeting Miss Bai tomorrow.’

With that thought, he made another call and contacted his friend.

The next morning, Bai Hanyun woke up and went to the backyard to check on the antique mirror. Seeing that it was still drawing water from the river, she pulled it out.

Back inside the house, Bai Hanyun wiped the antique mirror clean and looked into it. To her surprise, she saw a masked man in black staring at the mirror.

"Who is this man? Why is he staring into the mirror?" she muttered, her mind racing through countless possibilities.

On the other side, Feng Wu heard her voice and instantly drew his sword. "Who is there?" he asked in a loud voice vigilantly.

"Heaven!" Bai Hanyun exclaimed, startled by his loud voice and nearly dropping the antique mirror. Patting her chest to calm herself, she looked back into the antique mirror.

Hearing the word ’Heaven,’ Feng Wu immediately dropped to his knees and clasped his fists. "Feng Wu has been rude. Please punish me, Heaven."

Bai Hanyun blinked at the man kneeling in front of the mirror and asked, "Your name is Feng Wu? Do you know Feng Xiyan?"
