Chapter 39: Secret Investigation

Without giving Li Qin a chance to respond, Yu Tianshuo ended the call and called out, "Baoyi!"

A middle-aged man quickly appeared. "Old Master, do you need something?"

"Quick! Get the private jet ready. I’m heading to Gu Bao Antique Store in Fu Cheng Town," Yu Tianshuo said.

Though surprised, Xu Baoyi showed no reaction. He calmly followed a few steps behind Yu Tianshuo and replied, "I will prepare it immediately."

"Good, go now!"

Under Yu Tianshuo’s urging, Xu Baoyi left to inform Yu Xiangyu and prepare for the flight.

Twenty minutes later, Yu Tianshuo boarded Yu Xiangyu’s private jet, flanked by a team of professional bodyguards and one of Yu Xiangyu’s assistants.

Meanwhile, Bai Hanyun had already drunk three cups of tea in the lounge. She put down the empty teacup and noticed that Li Qin was still engrossed in studying the antiques.

Seeing that it was already lunchtime, she said, "Master Li, would you like to have lunch together?"

Interrupted by her question, Li Qin looked up from the bronze wine cup and said with a hint of guilt in his voice, "Look at me—I always lose track of time when studying antiques. If Miss Bai is willing, I can ask Jiarong to prepare lunch for you."

Bai Hanyun didn’t want to trouble anyone and politely declined. "There’s no need to bother Miss Fu."

Seeing that Li Qin seemed reluctant to let go of the bronze wine cup, she added, "Since Master Li is still busy, I will come back after lunch."

Hearing this, Li Qin quickly agreed. "Alright."

Watching Li Qin immediately return to studying the bronze wine cup, Bai Hanyun smiled and quietly left.

While Bai Hanyun was enjoying a simple lunch at a nearby restaurant, Yu Tianshuo and his entourage were on their way to Gu Bao Antique Store.

Realizing that nearly two hours had passed since he ended the call with Li Qin, Yu Tianshuo urged, "Drive faster."

"Yes, Old Master." The driver said and pressed down on the accelerator.

Thirty minutes later, Yu Tianshuo and the others stepped into Gu Bao Antique Store.

When Fu Jiarong and Fu Rongchen saw him, they immediately stood up and walked up to him.

"Grandpa, why did you suddenly come here? Does Elder Cousin know about this?" Fu Rongchen asked, a hint of surprise breaking through his usual calm tone.

Instead of answering his grandson, Yu Tianshuo asked, "Where is Old Li?"

Hearing that, Fu Jiarong realized the reason for her grandfather’s unexpected visit and quickly replied, "Grandpa, Master Li is upstairs."

Receiving the answer, Yu Tianshuo headed upstairs without delay.

Watching his energetic maternal grandfather disappear up the stairs, Fu Rongchen pondered for a moment, then turned to his younger sister and asked, "Maternal Grandpa came to see the antiques brought by that young lady, didn’t he?"

Fu Jiarong nodded and replied, "I think so. Otherwise, why else would he ask about Master Li?"

Fu Rongchen glanced upstairs and said, "Maternal Grandpa must be tired from the trip. Go serve him a cup of tea and his favorite snacks."

"Alright."

After sending his younger sister away, Fu Rongchen took out his phone and called Yu Xiangyu.

When the call connected, he said, "Elder Cousin, Maternal Grandpa is here."

"I know," Yu Xiangyu responded. He thought for a second and then asked, "Did something happen at the store today?"

Sitting back on the single couch by the glass window, Fu Rongchen replied, "Nothing unusual."

"Really?" Yu Xiangyu asked again, unconvinced.

Fu Rongchen glanced at the staircase to the second floor and said, "A young lady came to the store today. She brought five huanghuali wooden boxes with her. I remember that the bronze plate and the two pieces of prayer you bought for Maternal Grandpa’s birthday were from her."

Yu Xiangyu’s expression shifted subtly upon hearing that. After a brief silence, he said, "Rongchen, take good care of Grandpa while he is there."

"Mhm."

After ending the call, Yu Xiangyu pressed the intercom and said, "Assistant Chi, please come to my office."

Moments later, Chi Limin entered. Standing in front of Yu Xiangyu’s dark mahogany desk, he asked, "CEO Yu, how may I help you?"

Yu Xiangyu looked up from his document and instructed, "Investigate a young lady named Bai Hanyun. She is the owner of the bronze plate and the two pieces of prayer I purchased for Grandpa’s birthday two days ago."

Chi Limin’s eyes flickered for a second when he heard this. "Understood."

"Do it secretly." Yu Xiangyu reminded him.

"Yes, CEO Yu."

After Chi Limin left the CEO’s office, Yu Xiangyu continued his work.

Unaware that Yu Xiangyu was investigating her background, Bai Hanyun returned to Gu Bao Antique Store with a full stomach.

As soon as she arrived, Fu Jiarong hurried over and said, "Sister Bai, you are back."

Noticing Fu Jiarong glancing repeatedly at the second floor, Bai Hanyun asked, "Has Master Li left?"

Fu Jiarong shook her head and whispered, "My maternal grandpa is upstairs now. He is the one invited by Master Li."

Raising her brows slightly at Fu Jiarong’s words, Bai Hanyun said, "I see. Then I will head upstairs."

"Alright."

Now that she knew the identity of the expert Li Qin had invited, Bai Hanyun made her way upstairs.

When Li Qin saw her return, his eyes lit up. "Miss Bai, you are back. Please, have a seat."

Hearing this, Yu Tianshuo looked up from a huanghuali box and studied Bai Hanyun. After a moment of silent observation, he thought, ’This young lady... she looks strangely familiar.’

Under Yu Tianshuo’s curious gaze, Bai Hanyun sat down, and Li Qin introduced them. "Miss Bai, this is my old friend, Yu Tianshuo."

Bai Hanyun smiled politely and said, "Hello, Master Yu."

Yu Tianshuo returned the smile and asked, "Miss Bai, may I ask where you got these antiques?"

Bai Hanyun replied calmly, "These are antiques left to me by my paternal grandfather."

Receiving a vague answer, Yu Tianshuo fell into deep thought for a moment before commenting, "Based on my knowledge, these cultural relics should be from the Shang Dynasty."
