My Antique Mirror Is A Portal To Another World-Chapter 36: Shareholders Meeting
Chapter 36: Shareholders Meeting
The worker paused for a second, lowered her voice, and then added, "As for those following him, they are his subordinates, known as the death team. Each one is incredibly well-known with a high winning rate, and their hourly consultation fee is about the same—or even more—than our yearly salary."
When the female worker heard this, her eyes widened in shock. "Do you know why they are here today?"
Her companion looked around cautiously before answering, "I heard they are here to represent the new chairman at today’s shareholders’ meeting."
The moment she said that, the female worker’s jaw dropped. Her eyes widened as she said in a hushed tone, "Oh my god. Who is our new chairman? How powerful must our new chairman be to hire an attorney team like this?"
Her companion shook her head and replied, "I don’t know. The only news known to the public is that our new chairman isn’t our current acting president, Bai Yansheng."
"Heavens! Then won’t today’s shareholders’ meeting turn into a battlefield between President Bai and the new chairman?" the female worker asked, surprised and a little excited.
Her companion nodded. "Yes."
Hearing that confirmation, the female worker sighed and muttered, "No wonder today’s atmosphere feels so tense. Have you seen Manager Bai’s face today? It’s so dark that it’s like you could squeeze ink out of it."
At her words, her companion quickly covered her mouth and whispered anxiously, "Shh! Be careful! If Manager Bai hears that, both of us could get fired!"
Realizing her slip, the female worker quickly nodded.
After making sure that nobody heard what she just said, she pulled her companion and said, "We should head back now. If Manager Bai doesn’t see us at our desks, who knows what punishment she will think up?"
"Let’s go, let’s go," her companion agreed, and the two of them hurried back to their office.
While rumors about the new chairman quietly spread throughout the company, Jiang Yinqi and his team walked into the spacious meeting room on the 32nd floor.
Seeing that Bai Yansheng and the shareholders were already waiting, Jiang Yinqi nodded at them and said, "Looks like I have arrived on time."
One of the shareholders sneered at his words and retorted, "Attorney Jiang, you are late."
Jiang Yinqi glanced at his watch and replied calmly, "It’s nine o’clock sharp. I’m not late."
With that, he took the main seat, while his team sat in the chairs arranged to the side.
Looking at the shareholders, Jiang Yinqi said calmly, "I’m here today representing my client, the new chairman of Bai Group, Miss Bai Hanyun."
The moment he said this, Bai Yansheng slammed the table and shouted, "Nonsense! My father’s will clearly states that I’m the next chairman of Bai Group!"
Jiang Yinqi glanced at him briefly, then signaled to one of his subordinates. Standing up, his subordinate turned on the projector and placed a laptop in front of him.
Jiang Yinqi then looked at Bai Yansheng and said, "President Bai, if I recall correctly, you were present when I read Chairman Bai’s will two weeks ago. According to that will, the new chairman is Miss Bai Hanyun, who also owns 60% of Bai Group’s shares."
Pointing at the projector, Jiang Yinqi asked calmly, "President Bai, do you recognize this will?"
Bai Yansheng’s face darkened at Jiang Yinqi’s words, and a bad feeling welled up inside him. As he turned to the screen and saw the document, his pupils contracted.
Bai Yansheng reflexively muttered in disbelief, "Impossible. I clearly—" fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com
Jiang Yinqi’s eyes narrowed dangerously when he heard Bai Yansheng’s slip of words. "Clearly what?"
Snapping back to his senses, Bai Yansheng looked away from the white screen. He lowered his eyes and nervously stammered, "N-Nothing."
After observing his reaction for a moment, Jiang Yinqi turned his attention to the shareholders. "As stated in Chairman Bai’s will, all his shares are to be inherited by Miss Bai Hanyun, making her the largest shareholder and the new chairman of Bai Group."
When his words fell, the shareholders’ and Bai Yansheng’s expressions darkened.
Typically, a chairman is elected through a shareholder vote. But with Bai Hanyun holding 60% of the shares, a vote was meaningless. She would win, even if every other shareholder voted against her.
Jiang Yinqi looked around and added, "If anyone has any objections, please speak now."
After a moment of silence, he continued, "Since there are no objections, please proceed with the official appointment of the new chairman."
As his subordinates gathered the documents and shut down the projector, Jiang Yinqi stood up and said, "For future shareholders’ meetings or any important matter regarding Bai Group, please contact my assistant directly. I will be acting as Miss Bai Hanyun’s personal attorney moving forward."
With that, he left the meeting room with his team, leaving behind a furious Bai Yansheng and the frustrated shareholders.
After exiting the elevator, Jiang Yinqi called Bai Hanyun.
When the call connected, he said, "Miss Bai, it’s done. I will send the appointment documents to you via email once they are ready."
As she drove into her residential area, Bai Hanyun smiled and said, "Thank you, Attorney Jiang."
"No problem. I have already informed Bai Yansheng and the shareholders that I will be representing you from now on, so there is no need for you to come to Xi Yang City unless you want to."
That news pleased Bai Hanyun. "Alright."
Just then, Jiang Yinqi saw his assistant pull up with his car at the front entrance and said, "I’ve got a few other things to take care of. Let’s talk again next time."
"Sure."
After ending the call, Bai Hanyun parked her car in the garage. While opening the main door, she was busy thinking about what medicine to buy and how to make money.
However, when she stepped into the living room, Bai Hanyun’s eyes widened in shock at the sight of several wooden boxes in various sizes placed in front of the display cabinet.
