Chapter 83 - 83: Evaluation of Su Xiuyu

"Although I don't want to admit it, it's true—I didn't contribute much during this mission. Uchiha Chisato handled everything on her own and single-handedly wiped out the vampire group."

Coulson's voice carried a hint of embarrassment. He had always played a central role in previous operations, often serving as the backbone of the team. But this time, he felt like nothing more than a side character—a burden, even. The realization stung.

Fury, leaning back slightly, offered a calm response. "It's alright, Coulson. At least we uncovered this strange group of vampires. I had no idea they even existed until now. That's still valuable intel. Do you have anything to report about Uchiha Chisato or Su Xiuyu?"

"Captain, based on what I've seen, Chisato is incredibly versatile and powerful. If we compared her to mutants, I'd say she's the kind with multiple abilities. What's more important is her lineage—she's from the Uchiha clan."

Coulson continued, "According to Chisato, 'Uchiha' isn't just a surname. It represents their bloodline. Their powers are inherited—stable, consistent, passed down through generations. Unlike mutants, whose abilities manifest suddenly and are often unstable, the Uchihas' powers are systematic, refined."

Fury nodded slowly, processing the implications. So, there's a powerful clan behind Su Xiuyu... Just as I suspected.

Su Xiuyu's strength had always raised red flags. He hadn't even shown his full capabilities, and yet his presence was overwhelming. Carol had treated him differently, even respectfully. That alone said enough—Carol Danvers was practically a walking nuclear bomb. If she saw Su Xiuyu as an equal, or worse, a superior, then this wasn't someone to take lightly.

Fury turned his attention back to Coulson's report.

"Under normal conditions, Chisato eyes appear as typical black pupils, like most Asians. But when she taps into her bloodline abilities, her eyes turn red—and there's an eerie, almost ominous glow to them. We've confirmed that her eyes possess a form of hypnotic power, maybe even more."

Coulson paused, then added, "The first vampire we captured was hypnotized while we were in the car. After revealing the location of their hideout, he simply shut down. He's still unconscious, even now."

"He hasn't woken up?" Fury raised an eyebrow.

"No, Director. He's in the interrogation room, completely out cold. We've tried everything—even physical force didn't work. This goes beyond simple hypnosis. It's more like mind control."

Fury's expression darkened. Mind control was among the most dangerous abilities out there—subtle, undetectable, and terrifyingly effective. It could be used to extract intelligence, manipulate leaders, sabotage operations... It was arguably more dangerous than the Skrulls' shape-shifting abilities.

No wonder Professor X managed to live peacefully in New York. Everyone feared the idea of having their mind invaded. That's why no one dared to provoke the Mutant Academy—because no one wanted to risk getting on Charles Xavier's bad side.

"Just hypnosis? Nothing more?"

"I understand your concern, sir," Coulson replied, "but honestly, the mission was probably trivial for Chisato. She didn't need to use anything beyond that eye technique. Whether she can do more, I really couldn't say."

"And her physical abilities?"

"She's faster and stronger than the vampires."

"You're sure? She's just a teenage girl, isn't she?"

"Physically, yes. But she looks about ten years old by our standards—Japan tend to look younger. In the middle of the fight, I got overpowered by a vampire in seconds. Even bullets didn't stop him. He could've easily killed me. But against Chisato? That same vampire couldn't even land a hit. She completely dominated him in close combat."

Fury folded his arms. "So she's strong, fast, and has some kind of elemental control too?"

Coulson nodded. "Inside the bar, she spat fire and water from her mouth, and even summoned an earth wall with a hand sign. It blocked gunfire like it was nothing."

"So let me sum this up: enhanced strength, speed, pyrokinesis, hydrokinesis, earth manipulation, and ocular hypnosis. And that's only what we know. There's a good chance she has more abilities we haven't seen yet."

"Exactly, sir."

Fury fell silent, deep in thought. The agency was short on talent—real talent. Someone like Chisato could change the game. If he could recruit her...

"Is there any chance she'd join us?"

Coulson blinked, caught off guard by the question. "Honestly, I doubt it. The real key isn't Chisato—it's Su Xiuyu."

Fury raised an eyebrow.

"She refers to him as her clansman, her older brother, and one of the strongest in the Uchiha clan. It's clear she respects and admires him. If we want to recruit her, we'd need Su Xiuyu's approval first."

Back to Su Xiuyu again... Fury sighed internally. He already knew Su Xiuyu wouldn't be easy to win over.

During the Kree invasion, they had worked on the same side, but Su Xiuyu had always kept his distance. Fury hadn't done anything to warrant suspicion, but Su Xiuyu remained cautious around him. It wasn't distrust rooted in action—it was instinct.

"Then why do they have different last names?"

"Chisato mentioned that the clan calls him Uchiha Xiuyu, but he refers to himself as Su Xiuyu."

That didn't help ease Fury's frustration. He had tried, subtly, to build some kind of rapport with Su Xiuyu, but nothing ever stuck. The man kept his guard up at all times. Such strength, and yet no intention of cooperation. What a waste.

Fury's thoughts shifted again.

And what's worse, even the existence of vampires had been kept from me.

He was the director now, and yet key information like this had been hidden—clearly, his predecessor Alexander Pierce knew more than he let on. If the Security Council was keeping things from him, then it was time to pay Pierce a visit and dig up some long-buried secrets.

----------------

Nick Fury knew the real reason he was appointed Director of the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division wasn't just because of his instrumental role during the Kree invasion. It was also because of one crucial detail—he knew the Kree's strongest weapon, Carol Danvers.

Although Earth couldn't directly intervene in Carol's battle in space, satellite surveillance picked up enough data to confirm an extraterrestrial war was unfolding. For the first time, there was no denying the existence of alien life. And unfortunately, Earth simply didn't have the means to engage in that kind of war.

But vampires? A species that had supposedly existed for centuries? There was no way the American government and the elites behind it could be completely unaware of their existence. Yet, until recently, Nick had never heard even a whisper about them. Despite his position as Director, there were still countless secrets he hadn't uncovered.

Security Council Building — American Representative Office

"You're saying Nick Fury sent us an email asking about vampires?"

"Yes, sir."

"Tell him to mind his own business. That has nothing to do with his job description."

"He says his team raided a vampire bar and captured several of them alive. Now the biology team from Homeland is conducting dissection and research on the specimens."

"Damn that Black Fury," the officer muttered, a white man with a hardened face. "I was against putting him in charge from the start, and now this happens the moment he settles in."

"Sir, please be mindful of your words. I'm Black, too."

"...You're not like him. You know I didn't mean it that way."

"Which branch of vampires are you affiliated with?" the Black officer asked calmly.

"Just a fringe group under Marcus."

"In that case, forget it. Marcus isn't exactly a power player. Just give Fury a bit of info and get him off our backs. I don't want to get tangled up with that guy. He's like a starving wolf—maybe not dangerous right now, but I don't want to see him baring his teeth."

"Yes, sir."

---

As expected, Nick Fury was brushed off by his superiors. Still, he managed to walk away with something—some intel on vampires. It wasn't much, but it was a start.

What he learned was startling: vampires had been around since ancient times, long before America even existed. Their species wasn't uniform either—divided into many clans, each with different powers and traits. The group Coulson had wiped out was a sect of vampires descended from someone named Marcus.

The Council didn't forbid Fury from investigating further, but they warned him not to dig too deep. Above all, vampires were to remain hidden from the general public.

"So long as they didn't say to stop, we keep going," Fury muttered.

"Chief, even if they did forbid us, I know you'd still be investigating," Coulson replied with a smirk. "You're not the type to stop just because someone says no."

Fury gave him a look. "You know me too well."

He paused, then added, "Still, it's not easy to keep pushing forward like this. We need another angle. Coulson, I want you to visit the Uchiha Office again. We've got myths about vampires, but these ninjas are the real mystery. I've assigned you additional backup this time. Say hello to Su Xiuyu for me."

At the exit, Brock Rumlow was already waiting.

"Brock Rumlow. I'm your support for this mission. I assume you've heard of me?"

"Director Fury briefed me on your... impressive record. I look forward to working with you," Coulson said with his trademark polite smile.

Rumlow hesitated for a moment, then returned the smile. "Likewise."

As they walked, Brock eyed Coulson and quietly thought to himself: Should I eliminate him? Pierce would love to see more of our people in Fury's inner circle...

But he quickly shook off the idea. Even if I stage it to look like an accident, Fury would be suspicious. We can't afford to mess up Hydra's timeline right now.

Coulson and Fury had no idea they'd brought a snake into the agency. But that was a problem for another day.

Uchiha Agency — Front Desk

"Chief, that agent from last time is back again. Says he has another mission for us."

Today, Uchiha Madara was manning the desk. Normally, Su Xiuyu handled most of the firm's affairs, but he was off enjoying a well-earned vacation with Uchiha Chisato and Uzumaki Mito. Their destination? Miami. Sunny beaches and blue skies. In his past life, Su Xiuyu never got the chance to visit, but now he could go wherever he pleased.

Ever since Madara took over office duty, business had noticeably declined. His short temper was no secret. Normally, he just oversaw operations and didn't deal directly with clients. But lately, a string of idiotic customers had tested his patience. More than once, he nearly summoned Susanoo and leveled the place.

Just yesterday, a man came in—Black, dressed in a flashy suit—accusing the Uchiha Agency of racial discrimination. According to him, every employee in the firm was Asian, with no Black representation. He demanded they hire Black staff immediately or risk being reported to New York State authorities.

Madara nearly crushed the man on the spot.

"These so-called 'modern and civilized' types are more annoying than the thugs from Hidden Cloud Village," Madara growled afterward. Thankfully, Su Xiuyu had personally instructed the Uchiha and Uzumaki members not to act rashly in his absence. If he hadn't, things might've turned violent.

Today, Madara was still fuming.

"Let that fake-smile agent in already. It's nothing but crap commissions every damn day."

Uchiha Izuna, seated nearby, sighed. "Brother, you've got to relax. I get that you're angry, but this is the real world now—not the ninja world. That guy yesterday wouldn't have survived a minute back home."
