Multiversal Wanderer: Starting in Naruto-Chapter 43: Mecha and Research
Chapter 43 - 43: Mecha and Research
"What do you think now?" an American representative asked, his voice cold and serious. "China has already established relations with the aliens, and the good news is that they've shared everything they've learned about the Kaiju invasion. At least now, we know where these monsters are coming from."
Another representative nodded grimly.
"And those people also helped us eliminate another Kaiju, preventing us from having to launch another nuclear bomb. The destruction would've been catastrophic."
But the first man's expression darkened.
"Still... we can't always rely on them. What if they leave Earth one day? What then? Are we going to beg them to stay?"
The room fell into an uneasy silence.
The public's trust in their governments was already hanging by a thread. With every Kaiju attack, governments were forced to drop nuclear bombs, leaving behind nothing but radiation-riddled wastelands. Each time, cities were reduced to ruins, and the casualties were beyond counting.
No one blamed the people for their growing resentment.
America had suffered the most.
After two consecutive Kaiju invasions, the combined forces of Madara and Mito had saved the Philippines and Mexico, keeping their casualties low.
Meanwhile, America was forced to nuke San Francisco.
Now, the once-thriving city was nothing more than a radioactive graveyard. The toxic blood of the Kaiju had poisoned the entire San Francisco Bay, rendering the region uninhabitable for thousands of years.
The American representative, his face cold with calculation, slid a folder across the table.
"Take a look at this," he said flatly.
The folder was labeled:
"Project Hunter" – A Mecha Defense Initiative.
"This plan was developed by several scientists," he explained.
"They propose building giant mechas to combat the Kaiju—just like the blue giant that appeared during the last invasion. However, this project will take years of research and a massive budget. It's not a quick fix."
The representatives carefully studied the report.
The idea was technically feasible, but the cost and technological barriers were staggering.
This content is taken from freёnovelkiss.com.
The biggest problem was the human-machine interaction system.
It hadn't even been successfully developed yet, making the entire project incredibly risky.
One of the delegates frowned.
"Isn't this too reckless? Even if it works, the financial burden alone could cripple us."
But another representative slammed his hand on the table.
"Reckless? Do you expect us to just sit on our hands and wait for the next Kaiju attack?!" he snapped.
"By then, it won't be about financial risk—it'll be about whether or not we're still alive."
He pointed to the file.
"Besides,China has already launched Project God—which is basically the same as Project Hunter."
There was a heavy pause.
The man's voice turned mocking.
"I'm not a fool. Even if those superpowered aliens are helping us, I know that we can't rely on them forever. You're still sitting here arguing while they're already building their own defense force."
His eyes narrowed.
"Are you really going to build a wall along the coast and hope that Kaiju don't learn how to fly? What next? You gonna build a wall around the moon too?"
A tense silence filled the room.
The sarcasm stung, but the point was clear.
Placing all their hopes in outsiders was foolish.
"Agree."
"...Agree."
"I agree."
In the end, Project Hunter was approved.
However, the R&D team, led by Jasper and Caitlin, had barely started. At this stage, they were only capable of trial-producing a single arm—the rest was still theoretical.
---
Meanwhile, Wang Tao and his team returned home with Su Xiuyu and his group.
Thanks to Uzumaki Mito's effortless takedown of the Kaiju, the disaster had been averted with minimal damage.
Back at Daqing base, Wang Tao wasted no time.
He immediately began planning the scientific research team's tasks, directing them to analyze the vast amount of data collected during the battle.
Though several days passed, the world remained on edge.
The third Kaiju attack had shaken the world, making it clear that these invasions would become routine.
News broadcasts were flooded with grief-stricken families—victims of the first Kaiju attack—sobbing on live television, demanding justice and blaming their governments for their inaction.
---
One day, Wang Tao approached Su Xiuyu, his expression still professional despite their growing familiarity.
"Mr. Su," he said respectfully,
"Would it be possible for you to summon the Kaiju again? We'd like to run some tests and conduct research on it."
Despite their friendship, Wang Tao's tone remained formal, treating Su Xiuyu with the same deference as always.
Respect was mutual—and Wang Tao knew better than to grow complacent.
"Sure, I'll let Uzumaki Asaoka handle it," Su Xiuyu replied casually.
Wang Tao nodded.
"Thank you. I'll have my team prepare the testing equipment. We'll use the training ground behind the base—it should have enough space."
Soon after, the training ground was cleared to make room for the Kaiju.
With a sharp bite of his finger, Uzumaki Asaoka performed the Summoning Jutsu.
"Summoning Jutsu!"
A massive spell formation spread across the ground, glowing with intricate patterns.
In a flash, the Kaiju appeared, looming over the field.
Wang Tao's eyes widened slightly.
No matter how many times he witnessed it, the sight of summoning magic never failed to leave him awestruck.
To see a living creature materialize out of thin air was nothing short of divine power.
The arcane runes on the ground fascinated him, but the mystery of their origins remained unsolved.
The Kaiju, now dubbed "Bad Brain," stood quietly in the training ground.
The once-ferocious monster now seemed as docile as a kitten.
Asaoka stepped forward, patting the Kaiju's massive leg.
"Hey, Bad Brain, you need to stay calm, okay?" he said casually.
"We're going to run some tests. Don't freak out, and don't wreck the place."
The Kaiju growled softly in response but complied, its red eyes calm.
Su Xiuyu quirked a brow.
"Bad Brain?" he asked, glancing at Asaoka.
"Why the hell did you name it that?"
Asaoka grinned sheepishly, rubbing the back of his head.
"Well..." he chuckled.
"It doesn't seem very smart, so..."
Mito stifled a laugh, covering her mouth with her hand.
Su Xiuyu just shook his head in exasperation.
---
With the Kaiju secured, Wang Tao's research team sprang into action.
Scientists quickly took measurements, collected samples, and recorded data.
Thanks to Asaoka's psychic contract, the Kaiju remained calm, allowing the researchers to safely conduct tests.
Under Mito's watchful gaze, they even collected saliva samples—normally an impossible task without psychic influence.
If Asaoka hadn't been present, the experiment would have been far more dangerous.
After all, the people surrounding Bad Brain included Su Xiuyu, Mito, and Madara—three individuals so powerful that even the Kaiju dared not resist.
What none of them noticed, however, was the faint glimmer in Su Xiuyu and Madara's eyes.
Whenever they studied non-human creatures, their gazes always carried a chilling calculation.
As though they were silently assessing whether the creature was worth keeping alive—or if it would be easier to kill.
The Kaiju had been freed from the Precursors control, but it knew better than to provoke them.
Now, it wisely kept its distance from Wang Tao and the others.
-----
The Kaiju named Monster Brain towered over the training ground, its massive form measuring 670 meters tall and weighing a staggering 1,600 tons.
According to Rabbit Country's scientists, Monster Brain's stats were as follows:
Speed: 7
Strength: 5
Armor: 4
Toxicity: Medium
Overall, compared to the previous Kaiju, Monster Brain was only average in terms of combat capabilities.
As the researchers collected samples, Monster Brain twitched slightly, finding their poking and prodding mildly irritating, as though they were tickling it.
Feeling uncomfortable, the beast let out a massive sneeze.
A thick glob of snot shot out from its head, splattering over the nearby researchers, drenching them from head to toe.
On the side, Mito clung to Su Xiuyu's arm, barely stifling her laughter.
"Xiuyu, you've got a Kaiju too, right?" she teased with a mischievous glint in her eye.
"Why don't you summon it and let's see how they compare?"
Only then did Su Xiuyu and Madara remember that they also had contracted Kaiju.
With a slight grin, Su Xiuyu nodded at Madara.
"Uchiha Fan—it's your turn."
Fan's eyes narrowed with a faint smile.
"Yes."
Without hesitation, he performed the Summoning Jutsu.
"Summoning Jutsu!"
A massive Kaiju appeared in the training ground, its sheer size blocking out the sunlight.
The creature's deep roar shook the ground as it glared down at the researchers.
"Lord Xiuyu, Patriach, this is the Kaiju Chaos," Fan announced flatly.
"It was the second Kaiju that attacked the Philippines."
Now, with two monstrous Kaiju towering side by side, the sunlight was almost completely blotted out, casting the entire area into dark shadows.
The scientists nearby grew visibly nervous, retreating slightly into the safety of the shade.
Wang Tao, however, paid closer attention to Chaos' reaction.
To his surprise, he noticed that even the Kaiju itself seemed unnerved.
Its eyes, initially filled with ferocity, were now brimming with fear—specifically, fear of Uchiha Madara.
Wang Tao observed the subtle trembling in Chaos' massive frame.
It was faint, but it was unmistakable.
For a brief moment, Chaos' eyes met Madara's, and Wang Tao could clearly see it—
Nine parts fear, one part flattery.
Even without the control of Madara's Sharingan or the binding effects of the summoning contract, Chaos was still instinctively submissive.
This was not loyalty out of obligation—it was the primal obedience of a beast before a superior predator.
Madara had completely conquered it.
---
The scientific team, now in a frenzy of excitement, dove into their work, eager to take advantage of the rare opportunity.
For them, being able to closely observe and test two living Kaiju simultaneously was nothing short of a miracle.
The second round of data collection went smoothly, and with two full sets of samples, their sample reliability was greatly improved.
This was a major boost for the "God" project, bringing them one step closer to success.
---
After the testing, Wang Tao personally escorted Su Xiuyu and his group to the initial laboratory of the "God" project.
The lab itself was structured like a massive dock, with a circular assembly chamber that housed the mecha prototype.
At the center of the chamber, the unfinished arm of the mecha rested on the platform—a massive limb of steel and composite alloys, still incomplete but already intimidating in scale.
Wang Tao gestured toward it.
"This is the prototype of the mecha we've built so far," he explained.
"Right now, we've only managed to complete the arm."
He glanced at the others.
"Other countries are also working on their own mechas, but their progress is far behind ours."
He paused for a moment before adding,
"However, their operating systems are more advanced."
Wang Tao pointed toward a control interface on the far side of the lab.
"They've successfully developed the Pons System, designed by Ms. Catherine, who made major breakthroughs in neural interfacing in her early years."
He smiled faintly.
"Since our own operating system was lagging behind, we gladly accepted Catherine's assistance."
Turning back to Su Xiuyu, Wang Tao's expression grew solemn.
"After all, defeating the Kaiju is a shared responsibility for all of humanity. It's rare, but this time, the whole world is united in the fight."
---
Su Xiuyu nodded in understanding.
He could easily grasp the sentiment.
Only when faced with extinction could humanity cast aside their petty differences and cooperate so sincerely.
Without warning, Su Xiuyu suddenly turned to Wang Tao, his voice calm but firm.
"Wang, I have a favor to ask."
Wang Tao raised a brow, slightly surprised.
This was the first time Su Xiuyu had made a request.
Considering how powerful Su Xiuyu was, Wang Tao immediately felt a little nervous.
If someone of Su Xiuyu's level was asking for help, it probably meant the task was near impossible.
But to his surprise, Su Xiuyu smiled faintly.
"It's nothing complicated," he said casually.
"I just want to pilot the mecha when it's finished."
Wang Tao blinked.
"You... want to test drive it?"
Su Xiuyu's eyes lit up slightly, a hint of childlike excitement in his expression.
"Yeah, I've always been interested in mechas, but since I'm not a scientist, I can't exactly build one myself. It'd be a waste not to try it out when you finish it."
For a moment, Wang Tao was speechless.
Then he let out a relieved chuckle.
He had been expecting a god-tier request—but it turned out to be just a simple wish to pilot a mecha.
Wang Tao nodded firmly.
"No problem, Mr. Su. That's a simple request, and I'll gladly arrange it."
Su Xiuyu's eyes glimmered with mischief.
"Oh, and can we let Madara, Mito, and the others test it too? Of course, we'll go through all the necessary training beforehand."
Wang Tao froze slightly, feeling caught off guard.
But before he could respond, Madara gave a polite nod, unaware of what had just been discussed in Chinese.
Seeing Su Xiuyu and Wang Tao grinning at him, Madara responded politely,
"Yes. I'll participate."
Su Xiuyu smirked inwardly.
He knew that Madara had mellowed over time.
After so many days of exploring this world, Madara had learned to respect others, even the "mortals" he once viewed with disdain.
Though he was still arrogant, he had at least learned to show basic courtesy.
---
Before long, the fourth Kaiju attack struck—this time in Sydney, Australia.
Unfortunately, Su Xiuyu's team arrived slightly late, unable to subdue the Kaiju in time.
Although Sydney's population was smaller, and the evacuation was timely, the casualties were still heavy.
This time, the international community resorted to nuclear bombs once again.
Yet, even after two consecutive nuclear detonations, the Kaiju named Cutter refused to die.
In the end, Su Xiuyu's team intervened, defeating the half-dead Kaiju and signing a summoning contract with it.
However, the international community was divided.
Many irrational voices blamed Su Xiuyu and his group for failing to save Sydney in time.
At an international meeting, the Australian representative even openly accused them.
"Why didn't they arrive sooner?!" he demanded angrily.
"They're murderers too!"
But Wang Tao stood up, his voice cold and sharp.
"Don't be ungrateful. Without them, Sydney would've been wiped off the map."
The Russian representative slammed the table.
"If you think you can do better, go fight the Kaiju yourselves. Otherwise, shut the hell up."
The Australian representative fell silent, his face pale with shame.
