Silence pooled between them like a shadow.

Adam folded his arms, gaze steady.

"I’m worried about Elaric, but that doesn’t mean I trust you. Don’t bother lying to me either."

His voice sharpened slightly.

"I have the ability to discern lies from truths."

Celestia slowly exhaled, blinking once.

Her voice came softer this time, but not weak.

"Elaric himself was the one who first told me about the hidden floor. It was confirmed later by the viewer currently sponsoring me."

She glanced upward briefly, as though she could see through the fabric of the floor and into whatever spectator loomed above.

Then she returned her focus to him.

"As for the reason I want to find it…"

Her voice dropped to a whisper.

"My sponsor told me that it’s a place that holds everything you could ever want. Every desire, every answer. Is that not tempting enough?"

Adam’s eyes narrowed.

His gut told him she was telling the truth.

But—

"…You’re not lying."

He murmured.

"But something tells me there’s more to it than that."

Celestia’s expression didn’t change, but her hands tensed slightly in her lap.

"There is. But it’s a side quest compared to my greed of getting the things I want for myself."

She let that hang for a moment, then moved on before he could press further.

"Allow me to answer your other question."

She said.

"As for why I’m bringing newcomers to the tenth floor…"

Her gaze met his directly.

"It’s because a person is the closest to Yxthar when they are first awakened."

Adam blinked.

"What?"

Celestia tilted her head with a faint smile.

"Surprising, right?"

She folded her hands together again.

"As of now, I’m still studying the theory behind why such an occurrence happens. But I believe it’s because when someone first awakens, their existence is at its purest. Like an empty vessel waiting to be filled..."

She paused, then added.

"That leaves me to a question. If being pure is what draws you close to Yxthar… then what does that say about Yxthar himself?"

Adam frowned, listening carefully.

’It would mean that Yxthar himself is a pure existence...’

He guessed, unsure of what it meant.

Celestia continued, voice calm but filled with an eerie certainty.

"I believe that if I gather enough newcomers, I can use the resonance of their pure existences to pinpoint a location adjacent to Yxthar. And from there… I’ll find the hidden floor. Maybe even reach Yxthar himself..."

Adam stayed silent, brows furrowed.

’Dangerous…’

He thought.

This wasn’t just ambition...

This was heresy against the Tower.

Perhaps Celestia truly was one of the major causes behind the retaliation that had occurred in his past life.

One of the triggers that awakened the Tower’s wrath.

Adam didn’t answer aloud, but his knuckles tightened slightly.

Beside him, Xel’Shaar finally spoke up, breaking the stillness with a thoughtful murmur.

"In theory… it is possible. The resonance she speaks of could tether the border between Yxthar’s body and mind. But it is highly dangerous. No one knows who or what Yxthar really is. Not even the old ones."

Xel’Shaar mumbled.

Celestia inclined her head in acknowledgment.

"That’s true."

She said.

"But I’m not doing this recklessly. I’m aware of the risks."

Adam exhaled slowly and finally gave voice to what had been eating at him.

"You’re risking humanity’s safety… all for your curiosity."

His voice was colder now.

"I can cooperate with you. But I won’t promise I won’t kill you when this is done."

Celestia smiled softly.

"That’s fine."

She said without hesitation.

"I’ve had my own plans of killing you after as well."

She said as though there was no hostility behind her words, just mutual understanding.

"Of course... to ensure that our cooperation doesn’t fall apart before it begins…"

She reached into her cloak and retrieved a prism-shaped shard glowing with violet light.

As she spoke, a system prompt appeared between them.

[Binding Pact: Glass of Vows] : A relic from the Ancient Land. Once activated by mutual blood, two chosen individuals will be forcibly bound to a set of shared objectives.

– Betrayal or harm before the contract’s conditions are met will result in forced obliteration of both parties.

– Rewards are granted to both when cooperation succeeds.

– Cannot be destroyed once agreed upon.

Celestia held the shard out toward him, eyes unblinking.

"We both sign it."

She said.

"We both get what we want. But if either of us betrays the agreement before the objective is reached… we shall perish together."

She then smiled and joked.

"Romantic, isn’t it?"

Adam didn’t smile back.

He stared at the shard like it was a coiled serpent, glowing faintly in her hand.

His thoughts churned as the implications settled in.

Celestia rotated the shard between her fingers, and with a flick of her wrist, a ring of glowing inscriptions spiraled to life around it.

Her voice lowered, more solemn now.

"These are the conditions I’m offering."

— We cooperate with the shared objective of eliminating Elaric, the current wielder of the Omniscience Authority.

— Until that objective is fulfilled, neither of us may act in hostility toward the other.

— Any attempts at sabotage, deception, or abandonment will result in death for both parties.

— We share intel relevant to Elaric’s weaknesses and movements.

— After Elaric is eliminated, the contract dissolves. We go our separate ways—unless one of us initiates a new pact.

She tilted her head.

"Amendments?"

Adam didn’t answer immediately.

He watched the rotating glyphs, their odd shapes shifting like they were alive.

"…One amendment."

He finally said.

Celestia raised a brow.

"Name it."

"I want permission to intervene if you endanger others recklessly in your pursuit of Elaric."

Adam said, voice like steel.

"If your methods cross a line, I get to stop you. No penalty."

Celestia exhaled through her nose, amused but unsurprised.

"Very well. I expected as much from you."

Adam stepped forward and reached for the shard.

The instant his fingers touched it, the Vowglass came to life.

A searing thread of pale gold light shot from its core, latching onto both their wrists like living fire.

Glyphs surged around them in a perfect circle, etching the pact into the very air between them.

[Contract Formed: Vowglass Pact — Objective: Kill Elaric, Omniscience Authority User]

[Contract Formed between : Celestia Veyne - Adam Codranel]

— Mutual cooperation enforced

— Death penalty for betrayal or abandonment

— Objective-specific clauses locked

— Pact dissolves upon Elaric’s death

The shard cracked, then evaporated into shimmering dust that sank into their skin.

It was done.

And for a brief second, the Tower itself seemed to hum in acknowledgment.

As if it, too, had just become a witness.

Celestia flexed her wrist and smiled.

"It’s official. I’ll hold off on murdering you until after Elaric is dealt with."

Adam exhaled sharply through his nose.

"Likewise."

Celestia let her grin linger for a moment before her expression changed into something more colder.

She stepped a few paces away from Adam and clasped her hands behind her back, as if organizing thoughts that were too dangerous to say all at once.

"I’ll tell you about the plan in three days from now, allow me to prepare first."
