Mr. CEO's Ex-Wife: A Cunning Comeback-Chapter 118 - : Is Everything Ready?
Chapter 118 - 118: Is Everything Ready?
Roman felt completely defeated. Without bothering to pick up his belongings, he walked away, deep in thought.
Ruby watched him go as his figure retreated like a man running from shame. Disappointment filled her. He was leaving her behind, just when she needed him most.
She had once believed in him. The Bently Corporation hadn't gone bankrupt yet, and they had been married for years. She still held onto that hope.
But now, she wondered if she had been blind all along. Had she made a mistake choosing him, especially in the way she did?
Sitting by the roadside, she took out her phone and called James.
She cared about Kate, even if Roman didn't.

Chantelle didn't stay for Daniel's omelet. She left the Silver Crest Global District and returned to Western Hill Villa.
Calvin had already packed her belongings and was waiting for her.
"Ms. Chantelle, your face..." He was startled when he saw her.
He had always known her with makeup on, but this was the first time he had seen her bare face.
While gathering information before, he had come across old pictures of her. But seeing her in person was different.
Most of the pictures he had found were blurry.
Seeing Chantelle's real face now, he couldn't help but sigh inwardly. She had always been attractive in disguise. I never expected her true face to be this beautiful.
"Daniel knows my identity now. He also knows I wasn't the one who harmed Grandpa. There's no need for me to keep disguising myself," Chantelle said calmly.
She had worn a mask for years, but now that she was home, she decided to be herself for a while.
Even if it was only for a short time.
"Is everything ready?"
Chantelle spoke up when she noticed Calvin staring at her intently.
"Oh! Yes, everything is set. The helicopter is on the rooftop helipad and ready to go." Calvin quickly lowered his head, apologizing for his lapse.
"Good. I'm going to see Rai. Check on Russell's progress."
"Yes, Ms. Chantelle."

Calvin followed orders and left.
Chantelle went upstairs to change before taking the private elevator straight to the basement, where Railer's ward was located.
Since his last health status scared them, a team of medical professionals had been caring for him around the clock. His condition had stabilized, and most of his external injuries had healed.
If things continued this way, Rai would be able to move normally in about a month.
With a medical team on board, traveling long distances shouldn't be an issue.
Still, she needed to talk to Rai about leaving. This was a major decision, and he had to be part of it.
Even though he was young, he was much more mature than others his age and had strong opinions.
Railer was awake when Chantelle entered the ward.
A small-framed boy sat up against the hospital bed, watching live stock charts on his phone.
When he noticed her, his eyes lit up. He quickly turned off the phone and his expression was puzzled as he looked at Chantelle.
She greeted the doctor on duty and told her to step outside for a break before walking over to Railer's bed.
"How are you feeling today, Rai? Are you doing better?"
Chantelle sat down and gently patted his hand.
She checked his temperature. It was normal—not as cold as before. That made her feel relieved.
Railer nodded seriously, but a faint blush crept onto his face.
Chantelle couldn't help but smile. Is this little brat actually embarrassed?
Railer slowly pulled his hand back and started typing on his phone.
"Auntie Chantelle, you look different today. Is this your real face?"
Chantelle read the message and typed back.
"If you ask me out loud, I'll tell you."
Railer was speechless.
He stared at the message for a moment, then looked up at Chantelle. Her eyes were full of expectation. He hesitated, unsure of what to do.
Chantelle wasn't in a hurry. She waited patiently for Railer to speak.
He had spoken before, and she wasn't about to let him fall back into silence.
After a long pause, he finally opened his mouth.
"Auntie Chantelle..."
His voice was hesitant, but his eyes held some curiosity. He wanted to know where she had been the day before and why she hadn't come to see him.
He was eager to talk to this kind lady.
"That's much better! Rai, I'd love it if you talked more often."
Chantelle was happy to hear his voice. She leaned in and kissed his cheek.
Railer's face turned even redder, but it was clear he was in a good mood.
"You guessed it, Rai. This is my real face. I used to look a little different because of makeup. Which do you like better—how I look now or before?"
Railer thought for a moment before answering seriously.
"I like how you look now, Auntie Chantelle."
"Why?" Chantelle asked without thinking.
Railer's expression changed. He turned his head away, clearly unwilling to continue the conversation.
Unsure why he was upset, Chantelle decided to change the subject.
"Rai, I'm going back to my home abroad. Do you want to come with me?"
As she expected, Railer turned back to her at the mention of it.
"Abroad?"
"Yes, my home is in another country."
On her way back earlier, Chantelle had carefully considered everything. She decided not to tell Railer about his birth until he was settled and fully recovered.
There was no rush. When the time was right, they could resume their mother-son relationship.
"No, I can't." Railer refused instantly.
"Um... Why not? Don't you like being with me?"
"I do, but my home is here. My father is here too."
Even though his father often misunderstood him because of Kate and sometimes lost his temper, Railer had seen the news online. His father was no longer with Kate. He couldn't just leave him behind.
His father was the only family he had.
Chantelle was surprised by his answer. She hadn't expected that.
She had underestimated a child's love for their parents.
Railer had endured a lot over the years, but he was smart. He must have known that Kate was the cause of many of his struggles.
Even if Daniel misunderstood him and treated him harshly, he was still his father.
It was no different from when she used to discipline Kane, her little troublemaker. No matter what, he still loved her unconditionally—just as she would always love him.
Chantelle felt a sense of relief after hearing Railer's answer. For a moment, she had worried that Railer didn't like her.
"Rai, you still love your daddy, don't you?" Chantelle asked gently, holding his hands.
"I'm sorry, Auntie Chantelle." Railer's eyes were filled with sadness, but his expression remained firm.
