Modern World Warlock-Chapter 325: The Thunder Death Knight and the Necrotic Android
When June, Balthazar, and Ezekiel reached the necrotic core inside the hospital, they found themselves in a surgery room deep inside the corrupted building.
The whispers of the dead reached their ears, but before they could fill them with sadness and despair, Balthazar waved his arm and shattered the orb with the back of his hand.
Before the trio could leave the room, they heard thunder rumbling outside. However, the perpetual overcast that shrouded the corrupted part of the city didn't allow any natural rain to occur, so they knew that something was approaching them.
As the thundering of the skies became louder, Balthazar moved and grabbed his little brother, Ezekiel, and June by the collar of their shirts before rushing out of the room, where the ceiling collapsed not even a second later.
From the cloud of smoke that was raised by the debris, the trio could see strands of electricity coursing around a man's body, fully clad in a deep, dark blue armor. Beside him, an android with the appearance of a man stood tall with a face devoid of all emotions.
"Living organism found." The android said in a monotone voice.
"Initiate extermination," the android continued.
Balthazar could sense that there was a human soul inside the robotic man, but the way he acted was even more stoic than androids without one, so he deduced that whoever's soul had been placed in that body had its mind completely wiped.
"Hmm, you guys take the android—I'll take the knight," Balthazar said, his severe tone slashing through the air.
June believed that the three of them could fight both enemies at the same time, but noticing that Balthazar seemed to have his own plan, she went along with it.
When the elder vampire placed the tips of his fingers against each other, he slowly separated them, and a very thin red thread could be seen stuck between his fingers.
"Well, then… I'll see you in a bit," Balthazar commented, and in the blink of an eye, he rushed forward and appeared next to the armored Death Knight, tying the almost invisible threads around his opponent's neck and throwing him out of the building with force.
After the Death Knight rolled on the ground of the corrupted streets, he quickly regained his footing and produced an aura of electricity around him that gathered in his arms.
Aiming his palms at the elder vampire, streaks of lightning shot out with intensity into the sky. Fortunately, Balthazar managed to land on the ground before the attack and rushed forward for a follow-up.
"A thunder Death Knight, huh?" Balthazar muttered to himself as he ran straight.
"That's quite dangerous," he continued.
Balthazar knew very well the extent of his little brother's power, and he had gained a pretty good idea of June's power level after seeing her fighting the undead. However, he could tell that those two wouldn't be able to keep up with the excessive speed that lightning attacks could have.
The main reason Balthazar took the thunder Death Knight away from the hospital was so June and Ezekiel wouldn't get badly hurt or killed by an attack they couldn't avoid.
While the Death Knight was skilled in his lightning magic, he was unable to speak, which meant that he must have been weaker than Isidor, whom Balthazar encountered in the north.
As Balthazar got closer to his opponent, the knight waved his hand down and made the sky rumble, prompting a shower of lightning to drop down on the vampire's location.
The elder vampire wasn't quick enough to avoid all of the attacks that were targeting him, but he still managed to advance after getting hit a couple of times. Even if he wasn't fast enough, he was still much stronger than his adversary.
When Balthazar stood less than a meter away from the Death Knight, he bent his fingers and clawed the air before his opponent, confusing the knight momentarily, unaware that the thin blood threads had surrounded him.
Using the knight's armored chest as a stepping stone to get away, Balthazar vaulted back and waved his arms, pulling the numerous blood threads surrounding the Death Knight and slicing his body into pieces.
"Whew… that worked," Balthazar commented with relief as he landed back on the corrupted ground.
The elder vampire's attire had a few burnt holes and scars where the lightning attacks landed, but his poise and demeanor hadn't changed a bit.
Staring at the dismembered Death Knight, he grabbed a cigarette from his pocket and lit it up with magic, taking a puff and turning his head back to the hospital, where Ezekiel and June were fighting the necrotic android.
Balthazar had enough time to return to his team and destroy the android, but he believed that their battle was crucial for their growth, so he decided to get closer and take a good look. freēwēbηovel.c૦m
'Our enemies are only going to get stronger from here on out. If they can't handle this, I'll send them back to the checkpoint…' Balthazar thought.
Fortunately, while June wasn't able to cast any magic, she was very familiar with the android's arsenal after studying with Sami, who gave detailed instructions to her team on how to defeat other androids.
The other vampires didn't show that much interest in Sami's lessons, except for Ezekiel, whom Asphodel believed would become her smartest child.
As Balthazar spectated their battle from afar, he saw the android pointing their arm at the duo and shooting what seemed to be a small missile at them, making him wince and prepare himself to interfere.
However, when June took out her pistol and shot the projectile in mid-air, it blew up a few meters in front of the android, raising a curtain of smoke.
June had already spotted her opponent's location, so even if the smoke clouded her vision, she knew where to shoot. With a calm but firm movement, June aimed her pistol forward and unleashed the remaining bullets on the clip.
Not even Balthazar could tell if her bullets were hitting anything, but as the smoke dissipated, he saw that the ex-detective had blown off the android's arm after shooting a bullet right through the missile compartment on their palm.
Before the android could retaliate, Ezekiel appeared from behind and clawed his lower back, ripping apart some of the synthetic skin and uncovering small cables inside.
'I see… It's not the newest model,' Ezekiel thought, his eyes hinting at more curiosity than ferocity.
The necrotic android tried to quickly turn around to attack Ezekiel, but when the vampire sentinel calmly grabbed one of the cables and snapped it with his fingers, the android's legs stopped moving.
"Oh, Miss Sami was right!" Ezekiel exclaimed, grabbing the android by the neck and ripping it off its body.
With a satisfied smile, Balthazar descended from his viewing spot and reunited with his team, checking if they had any injuries that needed to be treated, and seeing that the three of them were healthy and full of vigor, they decided to keep scouting the necropolis.
