Around the same time that the mafia teams were battling against Netherius' forces, Sami and Lexia were patrolling one of the streets in the necropolis, accompanied by twenty Azure Rebel's androids.

Lexia felt a bit unsettled when walking on the corrupted streets, considering that her spirit was a part of it not that long ago. On the other hand, Sami seemed excited to start fighting, looking around for enemies.

The zombies and ghouls were no match for the androids, so Sami and Lexia were able to advance without lifting a finger.

When the group patrolled the front of a school that was thoroughly corrupted by death's ichor, the two cyborgs sensed an eerie presence inside that made the temperature drop dramatically.

"That feels like a necrotic core…" Sami commented, analyzing the flow of energy coming from the school building.

Since the cyborg's brain worked like a computer, once she analyzed a certain flow of energy, she would instantly memorize it and store it in her mind. Considering that it was a necrotic core that made Sami's emotions evolve, she recognized the feeling.

However, apart from the necrotic core, she could also sense a person's presence, extruding a cold aura from them that seemed to shroud the building.

Of course, Lexia's brain was similar, but since she hadn't faced many opponents, she still had to feed her brain with more information to be able to quickly recognize these auras.

As the pair of cyborgs made their way inside the schoolyard, the group of androids was tasked with watching the area and preventing any other undead from entering the building.

Inside, the hallways were dark and corrupted by death's ichor. Still, that wasn't a problem since both Sami and Lexia had night vision incorporated into their bodies.

Their systems read that the temperature was slightly below 0 degrees Celsius, and while they knew that the weather was prone to get colder in the presence of the undead, it seemed like it was too low.

"I'm getting a bad feeling…" Lexia commented.

"Really? Because I got a great one!" Sami replied with a bright smile.

After walking for a few minutes and scanning the corrupted, empty classrooms, they arrived at an open area that seemed like an old playground that had been razed, with the necrotic orb hovering right in the center.

Still, once they spotted the core, the cyborgs stopped advancing, knowing that it wasn't safe for them to take another step forward.

Without notice, Sami raised her arm forward and aimed at the side of the playground, opening a small compartment from the center of her palm that extruded a rifle barrel.

"Come on out!" Sami exclaimed, releasing a barrage of bullets and spraying them all over the area.

When the bullets traveled towards the core, something massive fell from the sky and blocked the projectiles, raising a cloud of dust that shrouded the presence of the mysterious man.

Besides night vision, Sami and Lexia also had heat vision, which worked similarly but were not exactly the same.

Night vision absorbed any available light and magnified it, displaying an image in black and white, while heat vision measured the heat signals of various objects and people.

As the pair stared at the cloud of dust, they saw the figure of a large man standing tall. However, instead of producing heat like any other person, the man was as cold as ice.

"Not even corpses are that cold…" Sami commented with a smile on her face.

When they saw the man raising his hand upward, the two cyborgs jumped high in the air to avoid the ice spikes that came from the ground, prompting Sami to slide open her wrist and shoot a small missile down.

Even if the projectile weren't enough to kill the assailant, it would certainly destroy the necrotic core. However, the man jumped, and as his figure was revealed out of the dust cloud, he used his forearm to strike the missile in mid-air, freezing it and slapping it away from the core.

The man was at least 7 feet tall (210 cm), clad in full armor that had a light-blue tint, and carried two small axes on his back.

"A Death Knight!" Sami exclaimed, boosting herself down to fight her opponent from up close.

When the hell-cyborg crash landed with her fist charged, she was stopped by a thick wall of ice that was erected right in front of the knight, shattering a small piece of it before landing on her feet.

Lexia was a bit shocked at Sami's recklessness, but when she noticed the umbra flowing from her body, she realized that the cyborg was just getting started.

As Sami aimed her two palms at the giant ice wall, she grinned with excitement and shouted, "Destro!" releasing a wave of invisible energy that turned the entire structure into sparkling dust and created a shockwave on impact.

The Death Knight grabbed one of the axes from his back and waved it forward, splitting the spell in two and preventing it from obliterating him. Nonetheless, Sami expected her spell to be deflected, so she wasn't surprised.

While the spell "Destro" could completely destroy something, it was extremely easy to avoid with a small pinch of magic, and the Death Knight seemed to be aware of this fact.

Lexia decided to join the fight, but as she began to hover down to the ground, she turned to the side as she felt another presence approaching their location at an incredible speed.

The cyborg carefully looked around and used the scanner in her system to look for any person nearby, and when she saw that there was supposed to be an individual less than five meters away from her, she spotted the strange shade on the ground.

*Gasp!* Lexia choked, boosting herself and stepping away from the strange shadow, which generated another Death Knight not even a second after she moved.

The shade on the ground produced dark strands that seemed to pull the knight from the underground, clad in black armor and holding a blade made of pure shadows.

"Uh, oh…" Lexia said to herself, wondering if she was strong enough to beat such an opponent.
