Chapter 190: Night out - 7••
Silas’s POV
I remained in that position for five minutes, and as soon as the five minutes were up, I quickly pushed him away from me and sat up.
He didn’t wake up for another twenty minutes.
After I got up, I was doing some morning exercises outside while he was still sleeping. And finally, after twenty minutes, he woke up and came outside.
"Shorty, I didn’t know you were an early bird," he said while yawning.
While stretching, I turned to him.
"If you’re awake, then let’s go back, ’cause I’m still worried about Velric."
"Yeah, me too. Let’s go back."
From there, he picked up our belongings—which were basically nothing.
My clothes had dried super fast overnight, so I put them back on, even though they were freezing cold. They weren’t wet, just cold from the forest wind.
Still, I wore them. And of course, I couldn’t return Theron’s shirt—since I already wore it without washing it first.
As we sat down in the car, he started to drive. After a while, when we reached the apartment, I saw Shine leaving from there.
"Shine, you’re already leaving?"
"Oh, Silas! Thank god you’re here—now Orian is saved. And yeah, I’m leaving ’cause I need to change my clothes, and my dad is coming to pick me up."
"You can go then."
As soon as we knocked on the door, I heard some noise from inside. And just then, Orian opened the door. The moment I stepped inside, I saw Velric running toward me. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓
When he saw me, his eyes filled with tears. I picked him up in my arms, and he instantly started crying while hugging me tightly.
"Mumma, you’re back..."
His tiny fists were clenching my clothes tightly, like he wouldn’t let me go. I hadn’t realized he would cry like this just from being away from me.
Ever since I found him, he’s been sleeping with me every night, and we’ve barely spent any time apart—so I didn’t know just how much he depended on me.
"My boy, I’m back now, and I won’t leave you again, believe me. I’m sorry for leaving you alone, but your uncles were with you, weren’t they? Shine brother was also here, wasn’t he?"
"But Mumma, you were not here."
I hugged him tightly after hearing that. Even though he had so many people around him, he only wanted me.
Little kids are definitely hard to understand sometimes. You never really know what’s going on in their heads.
But it seems like he’s opened up to me completely. That’s why he leans on me so much.
"Silas, you didn’t know—I was so worried. He was crying so much, and he just wouldn’t stop. We were sleeping together, but all of a sudden, he woke up. At first, it seemed normal, like he’d fall asleep again. But then he asked, ’Where are you?’ and I told him you weren’t here. Then he started searching the whole house for you, and when he didn’t find you, he started crying loudly."
And just then, Theron stepped forward and patted Velric’s head.
"Little fighter, you’re a big boy now. You can’t cry like this just because your mom isn’t nearby. But yes, you can cry for me."
"Theron, are you out of your mind? Do you even realize what you’re saying in front of the kid?"
"Why are you scolding me? I didn’t say anything wrong, did I? Orian? Did I say anything wrong?"
"Please don’t ask me anything. I’m going to sleep now," Orian said, walking off to his room and locking the door behind him.
Meanwhile, with Velric still in my arms, I took a step forward and sat down on the couch. Theron locked the door and then came to sit beside me.
"Velric," I called his name softly.
He quickly looked up at me.
"Yes, Mumma."
"Did you have a nightmare that I left you alone? That’s why you were crying, right?"
"Mhm... You left me alone in a dark place. I was so scared in that dream. But when I woke up, you weren’t here with me, so I thought my dream came true. That’s why I was crying."
Hearing this, Theron’s hand came up and pinched Velric’s cheeks.
"Little fighter, I’m proud of you. You didn’t cry later and behaved like a strong boy," Theron said with a smile.
"Then, Daddy, did you bring chocolates for me?"
Chocolates—shit, we didn’t buy any. I didn’t know that Velric was looking forward to us bringing him chocolate.
It didn’t even cross my mind that we should buy something. We just woke up and came straight here.
Now I was feeling guilty. And just then, Theron took out a chocolate from his pocket and gave it to Velric.
When did he buy the chocolates? But when I looked at them closely, I remembered—these were the same chocolates that were in our tent’s small fridge.
So, he must’ve just grabbed one before leaving. But Velric was happy, and seeing him happy made me happy too.
When Velric opened the chocolate, he gave me the first bite. And then he ate.
After eating a bit, when he noticed Theron was also looking at him, he gave him a third or fourth bite too.
Then he looked at me again and asked if I wanted more. I shook my head no. After that, he ate the whole thing.
He’s such a good and cute boy.
Velric looked like he hadn’t slept at all—his eyes were swollen, and dark circles were under them.
So, once he finished eating, I made him lie down on the sofa and rest his head on my lap. I started gently patting him.
And within five minutes, he was asleep.
Once he fell asleep, I carefully stood up and picked him up in my arms.
Holding him gently, I carried him back to my room, laid him down on the bed, and covered him with a blanket.
I stood there for a second, watching his peaceful face, then quietly stepped out of the room.
