Martial Peak - Rise Of The Human Emperor-Chapter 105 Escape!
Chapter 105 - 105 Escape!
As the day came to an end, the moon replaced the sun and climbed high into the sky.
Once the troop had settled in for the night, Master Karu and Mo Yanyu walked over to Yang Kai together. They found him sitting cross-legged on the ground, shoveling scraps of food into his mouth like he hadn't eaten in days.
"Master Karu, something seems off..." Mo Yanyu said hesitantly. She frowned as she watched Yang Kai devour his meal. His behavior was rough and uncultured, sure—but he didn't look to be in pain at all.
Master Karu's expression darkened immediately. "What? Are you questioning my skills as an alchemist?"
"No, no," Mo Yanyu quickly shook her head. "I'm not doubting you. The Gut Cutting poison worked on all the other medicine slaves. I just thought maybe... something was missing in his dose?"
"Miss Mo," Karu huffed, clearly offended. "I may not be the top alchemist under the heavens, but I don't make childish mistakes like forgetting ingredients."
"If you don't believe me, I might as well leave right now!"
"Please don't, Master Karu," Mo Yanyu said in a rush, her expression tense. "That's not what I meant. I'm just confused—why hasn't the poison affected him? That's all."
"Hmph!" Karu snorted, brushing her off.
Without another word, he rose and launched himself toward Yang Kai like a flash of lightning.
Yang Kai kept his head low, pretending to focus on his food. But deep down, he was startled by the speed. If he had tried to resist yesterday... he would've been crushed. Completely.
Master Karu wasn't just an alchemist—he was also a True Element Boundary Expert. Compared to him, Yang Kai, barely a 5th stage of Qi Transformation Stage, was nothing. He could barely circulate Yuan Qi through his body.
Fwoosh!
With a sharp gust, Karu landed in front of him.
Yang Kai calmly put down his food and looked up.
Karu's gaunt face was unreadable as he suddenly reached out, seizing Yang Kai's left arm with lightning speed. With two fingers pressed to the skin, he injected a surge of electric-type Yuan Qi into Yang Kai's veins.
The energy coursed through his body—piercing, burning, overwhelming. It completed a full circuit and returned to Karu's fingers.
Yang Kai gritted his teeth. His veins ached, scorched by the sheer force of Karu's Yuan Qi.
"Hmmm..." Karu's frown deepened. His tone was low and confused. "This makes no sense. The Gut Cutting poison is definitely present, but his meridians are still functioning. No signs of decay, and his Yuan Qi isn't broken. With his cultivation level, he shouldn't even be breathing."
Yang Kai said nothing. He let Karu inspect him without resistance.
"Master Karu, what did you find?" Mo Yanyu asked as she arrived.
"Just wait one more day," Karu muttered, scowling. He didn't have any answers himself.
Mo Yanyu bit her lip, suppressing her frustration. She gave Yang Kai a long, unreadable look—one that made his instincts tingle. Whatever she was planning, it wouldn't be good.
The next night, they returned.
Yang Kai was still fine. No decay. No symptoms. Nothing.
Karu looked even more humiliated than before. "Come back again tomorrow," he muttered stiffly.
Another day passed. Still, nothing.
On the fourth night, Karu showed up again—this time with two bowls of fresh Gut Cutting poison.
"Johnson! Bring Kuro over," Karu ordered, eyes never leaving Yang Kai.
Soon, a ragged-looking medicine slave was dragged over.
"You two," Karu said coldly, handing them each a bowl. "Drink."
Yang Kai didn't hesitate.
Kuro, trembling, followed suit.
"I used the exact same ingredients in both," Karu said with narrowed eyes.
Mo Yanyu nodded. "If Kuro's body begins to corrode, then we'll know. The problem isn't with the poison... it's with him."
"Exactly," Karu said grimly. "We'll check again tomorrow. Same time."
Yang Kai couldn't delay any longer.
The fourth bowl of poison had gone down his throat, and yet again, not a scratch. Not a burn. Not even nausea. And worse—Kuro was already groaning beside him, face pale, skin damp with sweat. The poison was working on him.
Tomorrow, the truth would be clear to Karu and Mo Yanyu.
If they suspected even a hint of the truth... if they found out about the Golden Skeleton... or worse, his undying nature, who knew what kind of twisted experiments they'd come up with? Immortality wasn't a gift in their eyes—it would be a tool. A perfect lab rat that couldn't die no matter how far they pushed it.
Yang Kai clenched his fists under the sleeves of his robe.He had to leave.
But how? He was still under constant watch, and his cultivation was too weak to escape by force. Not to mention Karu's terrifying speed and Mo Yanyu's sharp instincts.
He needed a distraction. Something loud. Chaotic.
Looking up at the night sky, filled with bright stars, Yang Kai's expression grew more serious and determined. He knew that if he ever escape, tonight was the night he had to escape.
----------------------------
Yang Kai slowly roused from his training, his eyes scanning the surroundings with a calculating gaze.
Mo Yanyu was positioned at the head of the troops, while Master Karu lingered at the rear. Despite their apparent indifference, their positions revealed something more—both of them were clearly on guard against Yang Kai, who stood in the center of the camp.
Johnson, anticipating Yang Kai's attempt to escape tonight, had foregone training. Instead, his eyes were fixed on Yang Kai from ten meters away, ready to act the moment he moved.
"Too bad," Yang Kai thought to himself, his patience wearing thin as he waited for the right moment to strike.
As the night deepened and the bright moon began to fade, the first light of dawn creeping into the sky, Yang Kai's impatience grew. He hadn't yet found his chance to make a move. After a brief hesitation, he made up his mind—he could wait no longer.
Suddenly, a strange noise echoed through the night.
"Kaka! Kakaka!"
Something was slowly heading in their direction.
Yang Kai's eyes widened with excitement. I knew it... He couldn't help but smile inwardly. The protagonist always has a twist of fate.
"Everyone, on alert!" Mo Yanyu shouted, springing from her perch in the ancient tree. From her elevated position, she scanned the distance for a moment before her voice rang out again, "A Jade Blade Spider!"
The warriors, who had been in quiet concentration, snapped into action. Without hesitation, they drew their weapons, spreading out five or six meters apart, ready for battle.
Master Karu packed away his book, his expression darkening.
The medicine slaves, hearing the name of the Jade Blade Spider, stiffened with fear. It was a creature known for its cruelty, and everyone present understood the danger it posed.
"Jingle!"
A bundle of keys flew from Mo Yanyu's hand, landing at Johnson's feet. "Johnson, unlock their shackles! If you don't, they'll be killed by the spider! Hurry!" freёnovelkiss.com
Johnson picked up the keys, his gaze lingering on Yang Kai before he asked, "Including him?"
Mo Yanyu's impatience was clear as she replied, "Yes. I don't want him to die."
Johnson snorted, giving Yang Kai a hard stare. "Kid, you better behave. I'll be keeping an eye on you." With that, he unlocked Yang Kai's shackles first, before moving on to free the other slaves one by one.
"Thank God..."
As the shackles fell away, Yang Kai let out a silent breath of relief, a smirk tugging at the corner of his lips. In his mind, he was already preparing for his next move.
Yang Kai moved closer to the panicking medicine slaves, his expression calm and curious as he observed the chaos. He made no move to escape—yet.
"Shit! Eight of them!"Mo Yanyu shouted from her perch, her face grim and tight with tension. "This will be a nasty fight. Get ready! And listen—do not chase them into the thickets! If we fight inside, they'll have the upper hand. Hold your ground!"
Kakaka! Kaka!
The sharp, unsettling sound of blades scraping the earth crept closer. Moments later, two Jade Blade Spiders emerged—each nearly ten meters long and one and a half meters tall. Their snow-white bodies gleamed under the moonlight, huge and monstrous, like buses brought to life. Eight dagger-like legs shimmered with a deadly, cold gleam.
They advanced rapidly, unnervingly agile despite their size. The light reflecting off their razor-sharp legs was enough to make even the most seasoned warriors flinch. Anyone struck by those limbs would be torn apart instantly.
As more spiders appeared, one after another, the atmosphere thickened with dread. The warriors fell into silence, gripping their weapons tightly.
Mo Yanyu had already leapt down from her tree minutes ago and now stood at the front, ready to face the threat head-on.Master Karu, sitting atop his sedan chair, looked on with disinterest, calm as ever, showing no hint of fear.
Soon, all eight spiders stood before them.
Then, the air erupted into a blur of silver and white. The warriors sprang into action. Swords clashed. Blades flashed. They aimed for the creatures' joints and eyes while desperately parrying the flurry of attacks.
Chaos descended in an instant.
And in that chaos... Yang Kai's smirk widened. Confidence bloomed inside him like fire. His eyes flicked to Mo Yanyu, who was darting through the chaos alongside the spiders. Cold and quiet, he whispered under his breath, "Mo Yanyu... just wait. One day, I'll have you screaming for mercy. The pain you've given me—I'll return it tenfold. And when you beg for forgiveness... it still won't be enough."
"Catch him!" Mo Yanyu's body stiffened as if struck, her voice burning with fury as she pointed toward Yang Kai and broke into a chase.
But Master Karu moved even faster.
The vicious alchemis, had remained eerily silent throughout the chaos—his presence barely noticeable, like a snake coiled in wait. He hadn't lifted a finger, as if anticipating something... or someone.
But the moment Yang Kai dashed off amidst the chaos of the spiders, Master Karu moved.
With a sharp leap, he soared into the air like a predatory eagle locking onto its prey. His eyes gleamed with sinister delight.
"I've waited a long time for this, boy," Karu said with a twisted grin, his voice dripping with malice as it echoed from above.
