Chapter 21: Who emptied the supply room

To avoid causing unnecessary conflict once again, An Nan swiftly slipped into her space.

The building had been thoroughly looted, leaving only the top floor behind.

Others lacked the advantage of a space like hers, so they wouldn't be able to take everything. They were probably only after the employees' snacks, and wouldn't linger for long.

As long as she spent some time in the space, she could easily avoid running into them.

Entering the space, An Nan admired her new home. What had started as a 60-square-meter house had now evolved into a small villa.

To her surprise, the jadeite rough stones she had collected earlier that day at Mingxing Plaza had transformed her little villa into a sprawling 5,000-square-meter luxury estate.

In addition to the four-story main villa, there was a vast lawn, an array of rare plants, and a crystal-clear spring.

She let Fu Gui out of the backpack.

Fu Gui paused, confused, not understanding what magic its owner had worked this time.

"Our new home, go ahead and explore, Fu Gui."

Fu Gui truly lived up to its name, blessed with fortune. While her home had a modest amount of wealth, it had never boasted an estate. But within just a month, little Fu Gui had already inherited a mansion.

Though it could only enjoy it for one hour a day.

Fu Gui sprinted joyfully across the exquisitely decorated four-story villa, leaping around the expansive lawn.

But as it ran, it suddenly collided with an invisible wall, tumbling to the ground.

"Woof woof... woof woof!"

The dog tilted its head and grumbled in irritation.

An Nan laughed softly. "Silly dog. We can't enter that part of the space. This lawn is plenty big enough for you."

Fu Gui, seemingly understanding, stood up and began to patrol the perimeter of the lawn.

Indeed, there was an invisible wall enclosing the estate, preventing Fu Gui from crossing to the other side.

An Nan explained, "That area is like our big storage warehouse, nothing fun there. You can explore the rest of the estate."

With that, she no longer paid attention to the dog. Using her mind, she retrieved a massage sofa from the space, placed it on the first floor of the villa, and relaxed there.

Today had been exhausting—diving, fighting, and raiding buildings—it was a lot of work.

The soothing full-body massage relaxed her entirely.

Fu Gui, however, was more interested in the outside world. It ran around the lawn, circled several trees, and finally arrived at the spring behind the villa.

After running for some time, it panted heavily, lowered its head, and drank deeply from the spring.

Inside the building...

"This is strange! This place is so deserted, not even a bird is around. How is it that everything is gone?"

"Could someone have come before us and taken all the supplies?"

"Who would be so ruthless? They took everything—food, even the tea table from the leader's office!"

"Do you think Taiyu Group moved everything?"

The group explored each floor, muttering among themselves. The building was completely empty, except for some scattered paperwork.

They soon reached the top floor and found it locked tightly.

"Brothers, there must be something here. The lock hasn't been tampered with."

The group walked through the entire building and finally caught a glimpse of supplies. Excited, they began smashing the door and picking the lock.

After some time, they finally broke it open.

Inside, it was pitch dark, with no windows. The leader quickly switched on his flashlight.

"What the hell?! What's going on here?!"

They were greeted by a large laboratory, filled with various instruments and chemicals.

The group scoured the entire floor, finding room after room filled with laboratory equipment.

But there was nothing edible. Not a single morsel of food to be found, not even a hair strand.

The group was deeply disappointed.

The leader angrily struck the head of one of his subordinates.

"You fool! You said there were plenty of supplies here! We burned so much fuel just to get here, and now we've found nothing!"

The man frowned, his face filled with guilt, nearly in tears. "I thought no one had come to Guangcheng District."

Someone else tried to console him. "It's alright. We found plenty of stuff in Zhongguan District. This isn't entirely his fault. Who could've guessed that Taiyu Group moved everything?"

"How do you know Taiyu Group moved everything?"

"It had to be them! It's not like some crazy person would steal even the tables and chairs. They even emptied the janitor's closet!"

"Whoever took it, there's nothing left here. Let's not waste any more time."

The group argued for a while before walking off, cursing and dejected.

Back in her space, An Nan lay back on the massage sofa, enjoying the relaxation.

She glanced at the time, calculating that it was nearly time to leave.

"Fu Gui! Let's go!"

As An Nan walked outside the villa, calling for the dog, she noticed the lawn was empty. She searched around in confusion and finally spotted Fu Gui by the pond at the back of the villa.

There, Fu Gui lay on its back, eyes closed, belly up, tongue hanging out.

What kind of sleeping posture was that?

An Nan walked over, calling, "Fu Gui, wake up."

Fu Gui lifted its head, swaying it back and forth in a silly grin, then gave a little whine and snuggled up to her feet.

An Nan, both amused and perplexed, wondered what had gotten into this dog. It looked as if it were drunk.

She glanced around, not seeing anything suspicious, then squatted down and scooped up some spring water, smelling it.

No alcohol smell?

What had this little rascal drunk to get so tipsy?

"Fu Gui, are you drunk?"

Fu Gui grinned, rubbing its round belly and signaling that it was fine.

It had been nearly an hour since she entered the space, and she needed to leave.

After observing Fu Gui and confirming it was fine, An Nan placed it back in her backpack and exited the space.

As soon as she stepped out, she found herself on a staircase, almost losing her balance.

What's going on? Wasn't this the place where she entered the space earlier?

An Nan scratched her head.

She remembered entering on the landing, but now she was standing on stairs.

Not thinking too much about it, she quietly ascended to check the situation. The door to the seventeenth floor was already open, and the room was silent.

It seemed the people had already left.

An Nan carefully checked, and once she was sure no one was there, she began exploring.

This floor had many chemicals—various red and green bottles she didn't recognize.

The few she did recognize were concentrated sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid, but most of the others were a mystery.

It didn't matter. She stored everything in her space, including all the laboratory equipment.

Since the apocalypse began, everything seemed like an irreplaceable treasure. Who knew when something might come in handy?

And with so much space, she just collected it all.

Before she knew it, Taiyu Tech Tower had been completely looted, and An Nan happily made her way downstairs to leave.

Once outside, she started the inflatable boat and headed home. But not long into the journey, she suddenly heard a commotion up ahead.
