Chapter 264 -264: Dinner Invitation

Before Tang Qi, held out with pride by the Bag of Gluttony, was a curiosity.

A ring!

It seemed to have some age to it; the ring part appeared to be made of silver, covered in mottled marks, yet what truly attracted attention was a crystal-clear blue gemstone, surrounded by more than a dozen tiny diamonds. Inside the ring, there seemed to be runes and letters carved.

It was being curled by a bright red tongue, with a ghost light spilling out.

[Curios: Water Fairy.]

[State: Intact.]

[Information Fragment One: This is an ancient Magic Ring. Its creator was a sentimental casting master. Although at the time of crafting this ring, the master was still a green and timid apprentice. Using ordinary materials, he successfully crafted a ring endowed with Extraordinary Power.]

[Information Fragment Two: He carved his feelings into it with an ancient Fairy Language: To my dearest love of my life, may you be forever beautiful and unharmed.]

[Information Fragment Three: The master’s first love, in the end, culminated in failure, and the ring ended up lost.]

[Information Fragment Four: The ring can be bonded by blood to a new master, who can then trigger a Protective Shield that covers the entire body with a thought. The shield has Extraordinary Defense abilities, but each use requires a period of time to accumulate Magic Power.]

“The information is rather complex!”

Tang Qi gazed at the curiosity ring stained with the saliva of Gluttony, sighing inwardly.

As he was perusing the information fragments attached to the ring, Night Beast and Gluttony were already explaining the process to each other in their own words.

They went to rid Messer City of a menace, successfully killing that evil Nameless individual.

After having tasted the deliciousness of the Melting Furnace Power, Gluttony seemed to have become more selective with its food, and when asked if it had eaten that person, it simply responded to Tang Qi, “Too smelly, wouldn’t eat it.”

And that Nameless individual, who chose the Evil Camp from the start and completely targeted the wrong mark, despite owning a ring curiosity, was too unlucky. Ambushed by the Night Beast, whose Shadow Magic was too fast, the individual was directly dismembered.

Messer City was rid of a nuisance, while Tang Qi acquired an additional curiosity for his collection.

However, when Tang Qi was putting away the ring, the third Information Fragment resonated, and he couldn’t help but mutter, “Seems somewhat unlucky.”

A ring, that needs to be charged to release its Protective Shield.

Moreover, it looked like the Defense Level of the shield wasn’t that great, at least nowhere near comparable to the Magic Shield of White Witch Zoe or Tang Qi’s own “Guardian Spell.”

The style, too, was clearly meant for a girl to wear.

The craftsmanship was also somewhat rough.

Most importantly, the creator was a master who experienced heartbreak, and the last owner had been killed.

Hmm, maybe I’ll sell it at some point.

After finding a bunch of reasons in his mind, Tang Qi classified the ring as a collectible that could be sold.

After storing the ring, Tang Qi rewarded Gluttony and Night Beast, then went straight to the bedroom on the second floor.

What followed was the somewhat mundane routine of Cultivation.

His schedule actually had quite a few important tasks to complete. For instance, finding White Witch Zoe, asking her to fulfill the Contract, providing the Knowledge needed to help Tang Qi unlock the double Seals on the “Witch Iron Box.”

But Tang Qi had no immediate plans for that; the double seals of the iron box, one of which belonged to ‘Crocodile Granny’, was relatively simple.

With Tang Qi’s methods, along with Zoe’s Knowledge, he should be able to unlock it in a short time.

The other seal, however, was much more complicated.

And it was what lay beyond that seal that Tang Qi truly desired to obtain.

Crocodile Granny actually never received the true inheritance of the Black Witch. What she got was just some peripheral things.

The time was not right, Tang Qi naturally would not act rashly. Since the Contract had been signed, Tang Qi could find Zoe anytime, and she could not refuse.

In order to digest the rapidly growing power, Tang Qi completely restrained his impatience.

For the following days, he spent his time cultivating the Molten Furnace Refining Method, Chaga Fighting Technique, and Ralph’s Handwritten Witchcraft, occasionally concocting some Secret Medicines or casting Extraordinary Bullets for diversion.

The benefit of this tedious daily routine was something Tang Qi was entirely able to feel.

His power was still steadily growing.

The many powers he had mastered, almost none reached the “Professional Level,” but obviously, there was no such Extraordinary Profession that he could cultivate in his current mode.

During such days, time passed quickly.

Meanwhile, the Mysterious Valley opened its Temporary Market several times, with a somewhat increased frequency.

As usual, Tang Qi strolled around the market, drank, and took the opportunity to ask Savoy the reason for the frequent opening of the Temporary Market.

The strange bartender’s reason was: Messer City and the surrounding town counties had been too peaceful recently, making the atmosphere in the market mundane, and thus the income declined. For example, with the Tyrone Tree Beer, Savoy admitted that he had brewed a bit too much.

With this strong and indisputable reason, Tang Qi drank new drinks provided by Savoy for free again.

Although the effects were only temporary, Tang Qi had to admit, in the brewing of Extraordinary Drinks, Savoy had a strong Talent.

Apart from Cultivating and drinking underage against the law, Tang Qi was also waiting for the results of Sally’s investigation.

Through the “One-way Iron Plate,” Tang Qi could feel that Sally had not encountered any danger.

But occasionally, she had significant emotional fluctuations.

Just when Tang Qi was somewhat curious, he received a dinner invitation from Stanna.

As nighttime fell in Messer City, almost every district was brightly lit, the lively and cheerful atmosphere quickly contagious throughout each district; even Blank District, this cancerous tumor, showed signs of prosperity and recovery due to effective management recently.

In such an atmosphere, Tang Qi, like a well-off high school gentleman, clearly made an effort to dress neatly, walking into a six-story residential building on the edge of Blank District under the gazes of some homeless people.

Judging by the mottled exterior walls and the old condition of the pipes and wires, this building had a long history and obviously would not have any pleasant views inside.

It would be hard for people to believe that this place was the residence of Stanna, the Police Chief of Messer Police Station with the highest position.

Yet, it indeed was.

Ding-dong!

Tang Qi’s palm had just left the doorbell when the door clicked open, and Tang Qi saw a familiar yet entirely different figure.

Before him stood a rejuvenated Stanna.

She was not dressed in her usual jeans and windbreaker but instead in a black evening dress, her flame-like red hair tied up, revealing a fair neck and somewhat attractive collarbones. Compared to the usually authoritative Police Chief, she now seemed more like a starlet in the spotlight on the red carpet.

Seemingly noticing the surprise in Tang Qi’s eyes, Stanna turned around while explaining:

“Tonight the police station and some government officials threw me a farewell banquet, I’ve just come back from it, so I haven’t had the chance to change.”

“How do I look? Pretty?”

Tang Qi did not immediately answer Stanna’s question, nor did he voice the puzzle in his heart about why the “farewell banquet didn’t notify me.”

Before him was a slightly dazzling expanse of fair skin.

“It’s actually a backless dress.”

Subconsciously, Tang Qi muttered.
