Lady Meilin is seduced by her green tea brother-in-law everyday-Chapter 95: A single white rose.
Chapter 95: A single white rose.
The weekend could not have come to an end fast enough for Mei Mei. Nothing pleased her more than bidding farewell to manager Gao and little fatty. As soon as the camp gate was closed and security informed her that they had left camp grounds, she sunk into her chair in the office and exhaled deeply.
Never had she seen an old man and a young man so determined to outdo each other at the simplest of things.
She leaned forward and put her head on the table, thinking of new rules and regulations for the camp. Rule one was adults needed to behave like adults.
"Tired?" Jingzhe slipped into the office and asked.
Mei Mei lifted her head and she saw him. He was holding a single white rose in his hands which he handed to her with a smile when he reached her. She accepted it, leaned back in the chair and sniffed it.
"Do you like it?" Jingzhe perched himself on her table, next to the arm of her chair.
She nodded. "I cannot remember the last time I got flowers from anyone other than Mingzhu on mother’s day." It had been years, many....many years since anyone gave her flowers for any reason. "Thank you."
She traced her petals of the rose with her fingertips as warmth unfurled in the deepest corner of her heart. Even when she gave Birth to Mingzhu, Mo Liang had not given her so much as a plastic flower. It was the same on the two birthdays he had spent with her as a husband before rushing off to space.
He always said flowers were for special occasions and yet the most important days in her life were not special enough to him.
Jingzhe was giving her a flower just because. He had not said a single word when he handed her the flower, he just let the flower do all the talking for him.
"A Zhe, why are you so good to me?" she mumbled.
Jingzhe sent a thank you to his assistant in his mind. The man had been right about the flower after all. It looked like he would have to seek his advise more often on how to woo a woman romantically. The internet had so much advice that he did not know which to take and which to abandon.
"Why a white rose?" she asked.
Jingzhe smiled mysteriously, he had chosen the white rose carefully after considering what it meant. He did not want to give her just any flowers; special flowers only, in meaning at least. "Purity, innocence, grace, peace, hope for the future...." he lowered his hand and his fingers slowly touched hers. "new beginnings."
"Hmmm...." She responded and then yawned. Her eyes went to a physical folder that he was holding. "What is that?"
He placed it on the desk and patted it twice. "Little fatty’s mother is impressed with our services, she has paid for his membership. She brought the required documents like health records, academic records, hobbies and more."
Mei Mei put the rose down on the desk beside the folder and she clapped her hands.
"Manager Gao has err....." Jingzhe covered his eyes with one hand and laughed.
"What has the old man done now?" she asked.
He lowered his hand and shook his head. "He has paid for memberships for all of his grandchildren, five of them. He and little fatty have another face off planned for next weekend."
"Why am I not surprised." Mei Mei muttered.
"He did offer you some advice that I feel I should pass along." Jingzhe added.
She raised her eyebrows curiously.
Jingzhe used his fingers to count off the advice manager Gao had given her. "One, he thinks the virtual camp fire with all the side effects is amazing but an outdoor camp fire is tradition. His opinion is that you should not neglect it and be blinded by technology.
Two, he thinks we need a Ferris wheel or some other outdoor games which will allow the children breathe some fresh air.
Three, he disagrees with all the trees being cleared from the property. He took a walk and found an overgrown garden and what appears to be a mini forest. He said we can add a stream, some ponds, more trees, a few harmless animals and virtual ones. Kids go crazy for that kind of thing.
His last idea is that you should do more live broadcasts. Invite some famous adults or children and have them do challenges. He said the alien contact game for example....."
"Wait, he played alien contact?" Mei Mei sat up.
Jingzhe nodded. "I connected it for him right around the time when he decided to dunk little fatty in the swimming pool because the kid switched his sugar with salt during breakfast."
"I had forgotten about that." Mei Mei muttered.
Jingzhe shrugged, "Well, I had to separate the two of them for sometime so I distracted him with the game. Anyway, he thinks it is similar to a survival show and seems to be realistic. It could be a big hit if we can get participants to face off in the game and broadcast it live. There has never been a survival show with children before."
"With good reason." Mei Mei said.
Jingzhe raised a hand, "I know, its because it is risky in the real world but this is a virtual world. The children will not be harmed and everyone will have fun. We can have a children’s version and an adult’s version."
Mei Mei yawned again, she was tired, too tired to think about what manager Gao had suggested. When she looked at Jingzhe, she realized that he was tired too. The jobs they were doing, like personally being involved in the activities of the campers were not part of their job duties.
"A Zhe, lets go home." She said.
Jingzhe got up immediately but Mei Mei did not.
"Do you need me to carry you?" he asked her.
"I am sure Mo Liang’s lawyer would love to get his hands on that picture." She said. She pushed herself up and stood, grabbing her bag from the table.
Mei Mei took one step forward and recalled the white rose so she took it as well. She would find room for it in her bedroom, perhaps the system had a way of freezing it so that it remained fresh forever.
She followed Jingzhe out of the office and down to the lobby of the building. Other employees had changed out of their uniforms and they were on their way out as well.
"Assistant Mo." One of the young women broke away from the group, rushing to Mei Mei and Jingzhe.
She was a fresh graduate, recommended by the district office like the rest of the employees. She was very vibrant and all the children that came to the camp liked her. Her name was Song ShengSheng and Mei Mei had already marked her down as a potential employee for promotion in future.
"Director Jun, hello." She said politely to Mei Mei and turned to Jingzhe, beaming widely. She tucked a lock of hair behind her ear and her cheeks took on a minor blush.
Even the blind could see that Song ShengSheng had developed a crush on Mo Jingzhe.
"Assistant Mo, we are going to eat dinner together. Do you want to join us?" Song ShengSheng asked.
