Chapter 127: The animal farm came to her.
In the evening, when Mei Mei returned home from the local government office where she had just applied for a name change for Minghzu, she had a smile on her face. She was glad because she would cutting the last legal tie between her daughter and the Mo’s with Mo Liang somehow willingly signing away his parental rights.
When Xu Shan told her about this, Mei Mei had actually felt the desire to hug Tang Yue. She had no idea what the woman had done to make it happen but she had achieved it and for that Mei Mei was pleased immensely.
As she entered the gate, carrying two boxes, one of snow skin mooncakes and the other had Mei Mei’s favorite durian mooncakes, the smile started to wilt and the look on her face turned into one of horror. She grew silent in shock when she set her eyes on her house that was beginning to look an awful lot like the animal farm that she did not want!!
Geese!! Someone had brought two geese to her home. And it was not just geese, there was dog...no...a wolf pup that was sleeping on the seat of her very new expensive shiny motorcycle which the system had given her.
Her eyes darted around, looking at every patch of grass in the compound warily. If anyone had brought a snake, they were getting punched.
The butler who was not disturbed by the presence of all the animals and birds welcomed her back with a smile and he took the boxes of mooncakes from her. "Welcome back young miss. We have guests in the house that are waiting for you."
In Mei Mei’s mind, she said to herself over and over, "Please don’t be Jun Yi, please don’t be Jun Yi, please don’t be Jun Yi." She could handle the boys just fine, they were a bit spoiled when they were young because everyone dotted on them but they had solid heads on their shoulders. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com
They were bright, clean, well mannered and hardworking. Jun Yi was the same...with the exception of the messianic personality trait she had. She just had to save everything in the world!!
"Is it my sister?" she asked the butler.
He nodded. "It is both of your sisters, the older one brought the younger one and the boys as well. Madam Feng is so happy, we have never had a full house before."
Mei Mei felt a strain in her heart. A full house!!!! Did these people know what they were asking for? Then again, it made sense that did know what chaos was like. Feng Qi had only Jingzhe as her son and she always had him part time because he was a Mo and his father had taken him back to the Mo family.
Mother and son only got to spend a lot of time together again after the death of Jingzhe’s father. The Mo’s were not interested in raising Jingzhe, a boy that was apparently responsible for the death of their loved one.
Feng Qi and Jingzhe lived together, just the two of them with servants. For them, the noise and chaos was probably sweet music.
Taking a deep breath to calm herself, she walked forward and entered the house. Every step that she rook was taken with care because where Jun Yi was, small creatures always followed.
Mei Mei could not count how many spiders Jun Yi had saved that unfortunately met their untimely death at her feet. For this reason, she was extra careful when stepping on the floor.
It made her groan tiredly because her house was beginning to feel a little too close to her ancestral home and almost every other house their parents owned. Jun Yi’s pets could not even be avoided in that castle their family owned in Greece!! Even overseas, she had to save turtles and snails!!
"No spiders." She whispered in relief as she changed into house slippers without stepping on anything.
As soon as she took one step after sighing in relief, the commotion started.
"Don’t put your foot down."
"Arrrrgghhhhh."
"Mei Mei be careful."
"Mommy, don’t kill Go Go Squid!"
Mei Mei took a step back, took a deep breath and she looked down. Go Go Squid, she guessed, was the tortoise that she had been about to squish with her oh so gigantic killer foot! that had everyone screaming as if she was a knife wielding maniac in a mask.
Jingzhe picked up the tortoise and he gave it to Mingzhu who was shooting Mei Mei accusing looks.
Mei Mei spread her arms out and shook her head, puzzled as to why she was the one being blamed for nearly murdering a tortoise she had not seen.
"It has a really strong shell." she blurted out. "Like titanium, totally unbreakable."
"Sister, actually you are wrong." Jun Yi breezed into the hallway. "Yes, the tortoise had a strong protective shell but it is not indestructible. If you step on it with a hard enough force you can cause or fracture which lead to severe injury or death."
"You--shut up!" Mei Mei snapped at Jun Yi. She just knew Go Go Squid was going to be living with them from now one given the way Mingzhu was hugging it.
"Sister..." Jun Yi laughed nervously. "He is quiet, he doesn’t shed so that fur which you hate all around the house you will find none. He is very low maintenance, I promise you that he is cheaper than Meow Meow who you let move in by the way. Also, Go Go Squid is docile and won’t cause Mingzhu any allergies."
"Mommy, Mingzhu is not allergic to Go Go Squid." Mingzhu announced happily.
Mei Mei rotated her finger around, gesturing that Mingzhu should turn around and walk away. Mingzhu’s shoulders hunched forward but she did not dare to disobey. She did give Jingzhe a hopeful look. If anybody get her mommy to say yes, it was him. That was what her grandma Feng Qi had told her.
Jun Yi turned around and escaped back to the living room. She knew about Mei Mei’s dislike for the animal farm and the reasons why. But, she really had no option as she had been kicked out of the house by Rose along with some of her pets.
Her departure left Jingzhe as the only unlucky one to be questioned about all the animals.
Jingzhe beat Mei Mei to it. "Go Go Squid!!! Your sister gave a tortoise the name squid! Your family is insane. What makes someone think that squid is a good name for a tortoise." He huffed, exasperated beyond what the universe could handle.
