Kaijin Fighter: So I Have to Make Monsters, So What?-Chapter 1302: For they are the cursed.
Meanwhile, at the Library of Nowhere...
<Uh Oh...>
=That's not good...=
Although their ability to communicate with Zhen Liu was more or less shit, the curator spirits were still able to see whatever Zhen Liu was seeing in any given moment.
Which is why the two of them were staring with their incorporeal jaws dropped as they saw a pair of humans transform into a pair of Kaijin through unnatural means.
Well... unnatural in the sense that it was being done without the human's consent, done without using the power of [Desire] to determine their abilities and these new "Kaijin" were being forced to take on the abilities and characteristics of another without their permission either.
Kaijin were beasts of [Desire], not whatever this was.
<Hey, Logos. I just noticed something off.>
=Yeah, Pathos?=
<Why is everything we're seeing right now being tinted red like through a filter? Is it because of ambient [Chaos]?>
=From what I can read off of the zakos in the area, no,= Logos answered. =I think it's just...him.=
<Oh...he's mad mad.>
=Yeah...=
<Then...why isn't he acting out?>
...On the other side of the screen...
[AAAAAAHHHHHHHH!]
[AAAARRRGGGHHHH!]
Before the eyes of the crowd, the uplifted human Kaijin became ten times more monstrous than how the original Kaijin they had absorbed looked.
The working woman who had absorbed Tusk had doubled in size and muscle density, with tusks jutting out from the bottom of her face.
To be more precise, while her original face was more or less intact, become even healthier looking than before, the rest of her head and transformed into that of an elephant's. Visually speaking, it was very similar to how it would look to tie a masquerade mask to the front of an elephant's face.
In the mind of a certain obersever, they were reminded of a more demented version of a faithful viking friend of theirs.
As for the heavily injured man, feathers began to rapidly propagate all over their body as their arms and legs began to repair themselves and take on more bird-like features.
Unlike the elephantine woman though, the injured man's face did not become attached to a goose's head.
Instead, the man's entire head took on a smooth, almost armored look with only a pair of glowing red eyes and a pair of breathing holes being somewhat discernable features, while a pair of goose head and necks sprouted from his shoulders like demented pauldrons.
The name, Zahak, briefly popped into Zhen Liu's head at the sight of the three-headed goose Kaijin.
"By the gods!"
^What the fuck?!^
~That... that's not right...~
The physical transformation of these slaves into monsters was enough to make the participants in the arena feel incredibly uneasy. However, this was only the tip of the iceberg.
These two slaves, initially, had no cultivation to speak of.
Everyone from the Kaijin in the stands to the people on the ground could tell that these two sorry sods weren't able to cultivate or use aether due to their respective circumstances.
But the moment they swallowed up those two Kaijin, something inside them changed.
To be more precise, when Splatter entered the ring, he was about as strong as an Aether Grandmaster.
When he had been forced to split into Splatter, Tusk and Pecker, they were each about as strong as Aether Masters at their very peak.
But now, for reasons that none save a select observing few could understand, these newly minted Kaijin were at the Aether Lord tier.
The moment those two slaves had swallowed those [Cores], brand new aether formulas that had never been seen before, but were perfecttly attuned to them, had inscribed themselves into their souls.
As such, they were significantly stronger than the average Aether Lord of the same rank. Combined with their new [Chaos] abilities, and one couldn't help but to wonder just how strong this new generation of Kaijin actually were.
Especially when members of the old guard couldn't help but want to compare themselves.
Granted, that "honor" went to the mortals, and only one of them looked particularly pleased about getting to fight them.
^Oh this is going to be great!^ Olstenna roared with joy at the new opponents being worth a damn.
Needless to say, he wasn't going to be ready for what was about to happen.
[Well, well, well! Looks like our newest Kaijin have been able to digest their gains and then some!] The MC Kaijin roared with sadistic glee. [I don't know what names they go by now, but I don't think they very much care about something like that. Judging from the way they're eyeing the mortals, I think they just want blood. So why don't we let them at it?]
Nothing was physically holding back the two human-turned-Kaijin, but they hadn't made a move until the MC had said they were able to.
Once they did, the mortals present were shocked to say the least.
[Regalia, manifest!]
[Astra, manifest!]
^Oh...that's not good,^ Lythero noted.
In practice sessions against Zhen Liu and his Kaijin, he had learned that the latter couldn't use the special abilities associated with aether cultivation despite having formulas. Instead, the Kaijin were able to become those things for Zhen Liu, or people they were possessing.
This limitation made sense to Lythero.
Zhen Liu's Kaijin were more ephemeral than physical, so it didn't make sense for them to condense their aether into weapons and armor since they were already that... technically.
But since these other Kaijin were more like mutant animals and people, Lythero wasn't entirely sure if the same rules applied.
Once he saw the [Astra] and [Regalia] manifest, he knew for certain that the regular rules no longer applied.
"Look out!"
"Incoming elephant!"
"Watch the geese, watch the geese!"
The goose Kaijin and elephantine kaijin immediately went on the offensive at the same time, with the former charging towards Olstenna while the latter charged torwards everyone else.
The goose Kaijin's [Regalia] covered him head-to-toe in gold-tinted armor , with special armor designed for the goose shoulders, while the [Astra] came in the form of a floating blades that orbited around the goose necks.
These blades moved in tandem with the goose shoulders, making it so that when the foul water fowls attacked, they would surge forward and strike at the parts the beaks couldn't reach. Alternatively, they could be fired off in a rapid manner akin to a machine gun.
Unfortunately, Olstenna was subjected to the latter.
Unlike the pollywog projectiles, the blades came at such a rapid pace that he couldn't use his cadence trick to punch them out of the air...not that he seemed to mind.
^Now this is a significantly more interesting fight!^
At the same time, the elephant-like Kaijin was covered head-to-toe in what appeared to be cloth armor that seem to flow with the air and change which parts of the body was protected at random points in time.
The elephant-like kaijin's [Astra] took on the form of a kettlebell-like incense burner that was held by using their trunk like a chain.
^Oh shit.^
When the elephant-like Kaijin attempted to strike, swinging their trunk down like a flail, Lythero attempted to lash out with a sword technique. Unfortunately, the blade failed to catch purchase as it was deflected by the presence of the strange cloth-like [Regalia].
'Okay, it's not natural immunity. Bitch is just that fucking tough right now,', Lythero cursed as he bounced away from the impact zone of the incense burner.
Unfortunately, this wasn't enough.
Once the incense burner impacted the ground, torrents of strange colored smoke poured out from it and created a cloud that almost caught Lythero completely.
Thankfully, that didn't happen.
Unfortunately, several unlucky mortal warriors were and Lythero was forced to watch what gruesome fate he had barely avoided.
"Grk!"
^Hrk!^
^What the fuck...^
The cloud of incense smoke, didn't seem to cause suffocation, rather it accelerated the rate of bloodflow of whomever inhaled it.
Outside looking in, Lythero saw how old scars suddenly became flowing wounds once more, how their skin became a deep scarlet as blood raged through their veins and how that same blood began to pour out of every orifice that it could reasonably flow out of.
Making the whole thing absurd to him though, was the fact that these victims appeared to be smiling as it happened.
^Gross, just...gross.^
Once these initial victims all fell to the ground, the elephant Kaijin retracted her trunk and prepared to attack once more. Except this time, she was going to put in a little more effort.
[C...cHaOs ARt: Elephant's...CANNON!]
...
"Interesting! So that's what I was missing! The mortal element, of course!" The Kaijin Lord howled with delight at the sight. "Mere beasts don't have the abilities to manifest the treasures of cultivation, why didn't I think of that!"
Off to the side, Zhen Liu was putting on a game face that would make a professional gambler jealous.
"Hmmmm."
