Journey to the West: Tang Monk Conquers Everything-Chapter 615: Sun Wukong: Am I Now Dumber Than a Pig?
"Master, would you say this counts as doing something foolish?"
Following Maitreya Buddha's departure, Sun Wukong suddenly chuckled and said to Jiang Liu.
"What do you mean?" The sudden remark from Sun Wukong caused Jiang Liu to frown slightly, not understanding what he meant.
Foolish act? Had he done anything wrong?
"You plague-ridden monkey, how dare you speak to Master like that? Let's duel!" Zhu Bajie, who was nearby, could hardly hold back. Having heard Sun Wukong's words, he leaped forward, his Supreme Treasure Golden Rake trembling as he shouted loudly.
"Oh? Blockhead, have you gotten cocky lately, thinking you can take on I, Old Sun!?" Hearing Zhu Bajie's words and his eagerness to duel, Sun Wukong's eyes narrowed slightly.
"Humph, you plague-ridden monkey, it's not I, Old Pig who's become inflated, but you. How can you presume to fathom our Master's wisdom? You say Master has done something foolish; surely it's because you can't grasp his profound intent!" At this moment, Zhu Bajie was completely like a die-hard fan of Jiang Liu, staunchly standing by Jiang Liu's side.
The very first time they met, Jiang Liu's impeccable reasoning had won him over, and his first impression was that his master was extremely smart.
Lately, the master had given him a bunch of Dharma Treasures, which made Zhu Bajie even more loyally devoted!
Not even Monkey Brother could say bad things about the master!
"Bajie, has your brain gone bad? What if the master tells you one day that the sun rises from the west?" Seeing Zhu Bajie's expression, the corner of Sun Wukong's mouth twitched slightly, immediately followed by an annoyed retort.
"If the master says so, then the sun must rise from the west!" Zhu Bajie stated decisively, without a shred of doubt in his words.
"Then, if you go and see for yourself, and find that the master was wrong, what then?" Sun Wukong's face grew even stranger as he continued to ask.
"Then it must be I, Old Pig who saw wrongly! Or it's I, Old Pig who cannot grasp the deep meaning of our master; the fault lies entirely on me!"
...
Hearing Zhu Bajie speak like such a fanboy, Jiang Liu's mouth also twitched slightly.
Had Zhu Bajie's attitude toward him really reached such an extent without him noticing?
Could it be, unbeknownst to him, his brainwashing ability had maxed out?
Smiling wryly to himself, he felt that Zhu Bajie's attitude wasn't good, but, when put bluntly, it was quite pleasing to experience.
After all, having someone worship and defend you like a fanboy wasn't a bad feeling, was it?
Shaking his head, Jiang Liu dismissed all these messy thoughts from his mind. Then, he turned his gaze to Sun Wukong and said, "All right, you two don't argue anymore. Wukong, explain yourself clearly, why did you say your teacher did something foolish?"
"Master, haven't you said it yourself before? During battle, if someone notices a poor archer, they intentionally don't kill him to prevent the enemy from replacing him with someone more skilled. Now, tell me, Guanyin was locked up, and Maitreya Buddha stepped in to take up her duties. Doesn't this count as replacing her with someone more capable?" Sun Wukong began to explain his thoughts to Jiang Liu.
"Uh..."
It was undeniable, having previously used that analogy himself, it was hard to argue when Sun Wukong used it to describe the situation between Bodhisattva Guanyin and Maitreya Buddha.
And, it did seem quite fitting, didn't it?
"Monkey, if you think your master made a mistake, that's because you haven't grasped your master's profound intent!" Jiang Liu found himself at a loss for words, but Zhu Bajie still firmly sided with him, uttering his thoughts.
"Oh? Dullard, you're saying I, Old Sun, haven't grasped the master's profound intent, but perhaps you, pig-headed as you are, have?" Sun Wukong glanced at Zhu Bajie and retorted irritably.
"This, this..." Queried in such a way by Sun Wukong, Zhu Bajie was momentarily at a loss for words.
Yet, in his urgency, Zhu Bajie suddenly came up with a clever idea.
An idea struck him, and he said, "I, Old Pig have figured it out. Bodhisattva Guanyin's status and position can't compare to Maitreya Buddha's, so her treasures can't compare to those of Maitreya Buddha either. Therefore, using this method to bring in Maitreya Buddha, the master could trick him out of many more powerful Dharma Treasures!"

"Huh?"
It was hard to deny, Zhu Bajie's explanation gave Sun Wukong and Sha Wujing pause; there seemed to be some truth to his words?
The three restrictive bands, Mystical Mirror, Ninth Grade Black Lotus, and even the Golden Haze Crown and Emissary Muzha...
Bodhisattva Guanyin indeed had a lot of her items fall into the master's hands; she suffered heavy losses, didn't she? It seemed, really, that she didn't have many treasures left.
Would bringing Maitreya Buddha in truly net a lot of items?
"Moreover, whatever Bodhisattva Guanyin couldn't handle, Maitreya Buddha could, right? Didn't our master just demonstrate it to us? Regarding the Netherworld Sect Master, Bodhisattva Guanyin would only make excuses, but when asked Maitreya Buddha to intervene, he agreed right away!"
Sun Wukong: "..."
Sha Wujing: "..."
"Right, there's one more crucial thing, Bodhisattva couldn't even protect herself after the Drought Demon was killed, let alone protect us. But if it were Maitreya Buddha, no matter how big a blunder we made, he'd be able to cover for us, right?"
"From now on, we can let loose and wreak havoc, and obliterate any Immortals and Buddhas who come to trouble us, and Maitreya Buddha will be there to cover for us!"
"Master, I, Old Pig, finally understand your painstaking efforts. Master, you truly are a master strategist! What's more, by following Master, I've even picked up a bit of cleverness!" As the words fell, finally, Zhu Bajie turned his head, excited and joyful, and shouted toward Jiang Liu.
"Hmm, not bad, Bajie, you've grasped a bit of your master's deeper meaning, which indeed is not easy!" Jiang Liu's lips twitched slightly before he quickly adopted a gratified expression and patted Zhu Bajie on the head.
"Master, it really is useful following you. My wisdom has even improved a bit. I believe, after some more time, even my skills in wooing girls will definitely improve!" Zhu Bajie said with a joyful face, nodding vigorously.
"Wait a minute, Master, you said I've grasped a bit of your deeper meaning? Just a bit? Master, truly, your wisdom is beyond what we disciples can speculate!" In his joy, Zhu Bajie spoke again, with even more fervent and admiring eyes staring at Jiang Liu.
"This, when did Second Brother's wisdom advance to this extent?" Sha Wujing watched Zhu Bajie's behavior, listened to his analysis, and found no reasons to refute, murmuring quietly to himself.
As for Sun Wukong? He was even more dumbfounded.
"These foolish words do make some sense? Could it be that Master's actions indeed carry such profound implications, and what the fool mentioned was just the tip of the iceberg?"
"Hmm, to say that Master's wisdom is so high, it seems not unusual, but how can Bajie see it while I, Old Sun, cannot?"
"Could it be? Have I, Old Sun, become even dumber than a pig?"
Sun Wukong's thoughts were in turmoil, muttering quietly to himself, feeling as if his thoughts were disordered by the wind.
...
For Jiang Liu and the others, Maitreya Buddha unexpectedly taking over Bodhisattva's role on this Journey to the West for Scriptures was a surprise, but overall, it didn't seem like a bad thing.
Although Maitreya Buddha was harder to deal with than Bodhisattva, on second thought, as Zhu Bajie mentioned, from now on, if they were to eliminate any formidable Immortals and Buddhas, Maitreya Buddha would also be able to cover for them, right?
After packing up the Exquisite Immortal Mansion, Jiang Liu and his group continued their Journey to the West, neither too fast nor too slow.
On the other side, after Maitreya Buddha left the Exquisite Immortal Mansion, he didn't rush back to his own Taoist Arena. Instead, with a thought, he flew straight toward the direction of the Netherworld Blood Sea.
Since he had promised Xuanzang, naturally, Maitreya Buddha wouldn't procrastinate like Bodhisattva did.
After much consideration, Maitreya Buddha thought it best to make a trip to the Netherworld Blood Sea first and talk to Ancestor Minghe.
He passed directly through the eighteen layers of Hell, and Maitreya Buddha descended into the deepest Netherworld Blood Sea.
It is said that the Netherworld Blood Sea was where the great god Pangu fell and transformed into myriad things, originating from his navel, making it the filthiest place amongst the Three Realms and Six Paths.
Therefore, after landing in the Netherworld Blood Sea, Maitreya Buddha immediately released the Buddhist Light from his body, driving back much of the surrounding filthy aura.
After releasing the Buddhist Light from his body, Maitreya Buddha flew directly to the palace where Ancestor Minghe resided.
Maitreya Buddha fully displayed his identity and came openly; naturally, no one stopped him.
When he arrived at Ancestor Minghe's palace, Poxun, the foremost of the four Demon Kings under Ancestor Minghe, personally awaited him.
"I've seen Maitreya Buddha!" Poxun greeted without waiting for a response and then took the lead, saying, "My Sect Master has been waiting for you inside!"
"Please lead the way!" Maitreya Buddha said nodding slightly.
While speaking, under Poxun's guidance, Maitreya Buddha directly entered the grand hall of the Netherworld Sect.
Above the hall, Ancestor Minghe was seated on the throne, surrounded by many skilled Asura Clan warriors.
Next to Ancestor Minghe, there was also a little girl who appeared about seven or eight years old.
Looking at this girl, with a blue rune on her forehead, she looked quaint and quiet, full of spirit, indeed standing out from everyone else in the grand hall of the Netherworld Sect.
"Could this possibly be..."
Observing the spiritually radiant little girl in the grand hall of the Netherworld Sect, Maitreya Buddha's mind stirred slightly, beginning to speculate about the girl's identity.
"Maitreya, why aren't you staying properly in your Taoist Arena, but coming to my Netherworld Sect?" Ancestor Minghe sat on the throne, his demeanor nonchalant, as he asked.
