Infinity, The Arcade Age-Chapter 314: Midnight Escape
Chapter 314 - 314: Midnight Escape
"What?"
"I said, don't board the boss's ship; it's not safe."
Seeing the two turn their heads towards her, Poison's expression was stern.
"You haven't been in this line of work; you don't understand the rules. Leaving to lay low for a couple of years and then returning is a lie. By the time you come back, someone else will have taken your place. Besides, laying low is a privilege of the higher-ups. You two are just small-time leaders who recently joined and have already caused such trouble. Do you think the Crazy Gear Gang would go to great lengths to fix this for you?"
Shaking her head, Poison, sitting with her legs crossed, looked helpless.
"You absolutely can't stay in Metro City. I'm afraid the boss might throw you under the bus. And you can't board the boss's ship; it's likely compromised. Two hours before the scheduled time, I'll arrange another ship to dock. You can take it and decide where to go. I'll leave travel expenses on board. With your skills, you can make it anywhere. Just don't be so reckless next time."
Poison's words left Qin Ming and Eri Kasamoto looking at each other, both feeling awkward.
As for why they felt awkward, it was because they had just been discussing whether to target the weakest boss on the villain's side—Poison...
"Ahem, thanks for the warning. But why are you helping us?"
With an embarrassed smile, Qin Ming couldn't help but ask softly.

Hearing this, Poison sighed with her eyes closed.
"I brought you into the Crazy Gear Gang, so I have a duty to help you leave alive. Remember, two hours early, a white ship."
As she spoke, Poison stood up, put on her police cap, and walked away with a sway.
Watching her leave, Qin Ming couldn't help but sigh.
"We've become hot potatoes, yet she's still looking out for us. She's a good leader."
Eri Kasamoto nodded in agreement.
"Yes, if she were in the military, this kind of personality would be well-loved by the soldiers."
"Come to think of it, I actually hit her the first time we met, and just now we were even planning to kill her. Tsk, I'm really not a good person."
"Yes, you're indeed not great."
"Right, I... Huh?!"
...
In the blink of an eye, night fell. At the quiet dock, footsteps echoed as Qin Ming and Eri Kasamoto arrived as scheduled.
They ultimately chose not to accept Poison's kindness and leave two hours early on the ship she arranged.
It's not that they're stubborn; it's just that taking Poison's ship to escape secretly isn't much different from hiding on their own.
How would they then use boarding Boss Belger's arranged ship to lower the villains' guard?
Not to mention, if the other side sends experts to deal with them, wouldn't that be exactly what they want?
As long as the number isn't too high, it would be a perfect opportunity for a solo kill!
So, even though Poison had made things clear, Qin Ming and Eri still came to board the ship.
After verifying their identities, they quickly boarded the small cargo ship. The driver, having picked them up, steered the ship into the distance.
The two split up on board. Qin Ming went to chat with the crew, while Eri Kasamoto casually wandered around.
After about ten minutes, they reconvened. Sitting on a chair, Eri looked ahead and spoke softly.
"I've checked everywhere. There's no one else on board, and no explosives are installed. The ship is safe. How about your side?"
Qin Ming, lazily leaning on his chair, responded in a low voice.
"I've checked their stats. Just a bunch of small fries, no hidden experts among them."
"So, the personnel aren't a problem?"
"Yeah, but there's an issue with the fuel tank. I secretly tested it with my blood—there's not much fuel left, and there aren't any spare fuel barrels on board. This ship won't be able to go far at all."
"Hiss... Instead of tampering with the people or the ship itself, they messed with the fuel? What's the meaning behind this?"
"Who knows. But Poison was definitely right—this setup doesn't look like they're trying to smuggle us out for our safety."
Qin Ming frowned as he turned to look at the sea outside the window.
The good news was that their so-called gang boss, while not actually trying to help them escape, also wasn't planning to just blow them up and be done with it.
Of course, the reason he didn't choose to blow up the ship was likely because, in their eyes, Qin Ming and Eri Kasamoto were martial artists—tough and resilient, unlikely to die from conventional explosives. That method was too unreliable.
If they weren't using explosives, then the best way to deal with martial artists was to send another martial artist to handle them.
In other words, their enemy planned to trap them at sea and then send someone to finish them off—silencing them for good. That way, if they ever got caught in the future, they wouldn't be able to expose their boss or drag him down with them by labeling him as a terrorist.
But who would they send? Could it be Abigail?
If that behemoth were their opponent, fighting in such a confined space would be to his advantage.
But a one-against-two fight—weren't they afraid things might not go as planned?
If not Abigail, then who else...
Staring out at the sea, Qin Ming suddenly froze. His head whipped around, eyes locking onto Eri Kasamoto.
"Eri, do you think there's a chance that Belger can't handle the heat anymore? That he's trying to negotiate with the mayor, so he's planning to throw us under the bus? What if the ones coming for us are actually Mayor Mike Haggar and Cody?"
As soon as he said this, Eri Kasamoto's expression turned serious.
But after thinking for a moment, she suddenly shook her head.
"Impossible."
"Huh? Why not?"
"Because if they were the ones coming, and we really got captured, don't you think we'd drag him into this? Maybe even pin everything on him? Don't forget, in the eyes of outsiders, we're just low-level grunts doing the dirty work. He's the real mastermind."
"That's true..."
"If he really wanted to negotiate, he absolutely wouldn't let us meet Mayor Mike Haggar—at least, not alive. When it comes to taking the fall, dead men are way more convenient than living ones. After all, corpses don't talk."
Just as Qin Ming and Eri Kasamoto were discussing, the cargo ship suddenly came to a stop.
Before they could steady themselves against the rocking of the ship, the next second, blinding lights flared from all directions.
Floodlights formed a net around them, completely trapping the ship.
On patrol boats that had gathered at some point, a large group of armed police officers were already standing by, weapons at the ready.
Leading them was a burly police chief, chewing gum as he bellowed,
"Stop right there! Get on the deck! We're searching the ship!"
The martial artist sent to eliminate Qin Ming and Eri Kasamoto had finally appeared.
