Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix-Chapter 992: Dangerous proposal
"Mistaken, the path of deception is. Lead to darkness, it does. Trust in truth, one must. A tangled web, deception weaves, clouding the mind, it does…" Rain thought while he was having a hard time falling asleep since he couldn't move his arms that were being used as pillows.
"Can we talk now?" Larisa asked.
"About what? Why do you ask that kind of thing when you don't mind my time and place?" Rain asked.
"After considering what I had heard and hearing other things from Elisabetha and Vanessa, we assumed that Vanessa probably absorbed the blood of the dragon that hunted other dragons," Larisa explained. "I would say that her abilities have no limitations or conditions, but they are specialized in fighting dragons as well."
"Becuase of that anormal dragon used to hunt other dragons?" Rain asked. "I guess that kind of ability would be very useful against them. Wait, doesn't that mean…"
"Yes, even back then, some dragons had different specializations, and it looks like this one was too advanced to be considered something that was recent obtained by the dragon that invaded Earth from back then," Larisa said. "It is starting to feel like the dragons had a history even beyond invading our world."
That was a problem… because it means that the dragons had a lot more time to develop their skills and even evolve. However, thinking about it was useless.
"Well, that is worrisome, but there is nothing we can do about it," Rain said. "The only thing we can do is recover your memories and then learn what happened in the past, that should be enough to handle them to some extent."
"When did you decide to do that?" Larisa asked. "Weren't you wary of our powers and knowledge increasing?"
"It is fine, if you guys turn out to become an enemy, I will get a ton of experience killing you all, no worries," Rain said.
"What an ominous thing to say…" Larisa said.
After Rain's interaction with the teleport guy, the relics, noted a noticeable shift in Rain's demeanor and behavior. They sensed a change in him, recognizing that the encounter had a profound impact on his mindset and decisions.
The relics comprehended that the teleport guy specifically chose to communicate with Rain for a particular purpose, yet they couldn't tell the exact motive behind this interaction. However, they assumed that the teleport guy had ulterior motives, likely expecting some form of benefit from engaging with Rain.
Surprisingly, Rain, typically known for his stubbornness and resolute nature, appeared persuaded by whatever the teleport guy had communicated during their discussion.
Despite his strong-willed personality and reluctance to alter his beliefs easily, the relics noticed a rare instance where Rain seemed to consider different perspectives or possibilities following his conversation with the teleport guy.
In the days following the mission, Rain settled back into his routine, working to maintain some semblance of normalcy amid the ongoing work. His efforts primarily focused on utilizing the hammer to craft new items whenever possible. However, he encountered limitations due to the constraints of his mana supply.
Vanessa suggested the possibility of extracting mana from the vessel itself, albeit cautioning against such an action due to its counterproductivity. Rain considered this but decided against it, mindful of the potential drawbacks and preferring to conserve their resources.

Despite the completion of the mission, the pace of life for Rain's family appeared to intensify rather than calm down. Instead of a lull in activity, their days grew busier. Danny and Annie engaged in rigorous training sessions with Reca and Jori's children, fostering a bond and skill-sharing among the younger generation.
Meanwhile, Sealyn dedicated herself to working with the sea folk, to obtain insights that would improve their life in the new ocean. Rain realized that even after the mission's conclusion, their responsibilities and commitments hadn't diminished. Rather, new avenues of work and engagement emerged, creating a more hectic atmosphere.
Amidst this chaos, Rain aimed to find moments of respite to connect and spend time with his family… but it looked like it wasn't possible.
"I get it, I am not cool anymore… I am old and prechy," Rain shrugged.
"If you are done feeling sorry for yourself, I have some things to day," Elisabetha said.
"Don't throw cold water at my pity party," Rain said. "Anyway, what do you want?"
"I want to try an experiment, most of the times, you won't be able to use us in case something happens and we can't fly and attack the enemies by ourselves," Elisabetha said. "So, I want you to build us new bodies to use in some special occasions."
"No, is there anything else?" Rain asked. "I thought so."
Rain had previously considered the prospect of exploring a similar concept. He entertained the idea of conducting experiments with summoning magic as a starting point. His mind thought over the possibilities, contemplating how to channel the energy of the relics through a construct or a body made of crystal or something similar related to the power of the relics.
Given his knowledge about magic circles and his understanding of the Magic Scribe path, Rain knew such a thing was theoretically possible. Crafting a vessel or a construct to channel the relics' energy could potentially serve his purpose. However, he reasoned that the resources required for such an intricate creation would be excessively draining.
Moreover, Rain's principle stood firm—he wasn't willing to work for the relics; they were meant to serve his objectives.
The notion of sacrificing too much—whether in terms of effort, resources, or autonomy—to create a vessel for the relics didn't align with Rain's objectives. Instead, he aimed for a scenario where the relics would augment his capabilities without consuming an inordinate amount of his resources or power.
"You are such a pain in the ass," Elisabetha said. "You don't have to give us new body or something, anything that would help us fight without being on your hands would do the trick."
