Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix-Chapter 1528: Suits you
Chapter 1528: Suits you
Even if they are immune to the ravages of time and aging, they will ultimately be powerless to prevent the inevitable decay and dissolution of the cosmos around them. In such a desolate and lifeless universe devoid of any sources of energy or potential for growth, even the most resilient and long-lived beings will be unable to escape the finality of death.
"Sorry, not so sorry, bud" Rain said. "But you will fail in your task. Even without Foresight, I can tell that much about you."
Lonos couldn’t help but sigh. While a bit unconventional, he was something like a scientist. So, Lonos could accept things like that, which seemed nonsensical, as long as there was data that confirmed that. Still, there wasn’t a single sign so far that Rain could defeat him, much less surpass the level two of his Temporal attacks.
To make Rain even angrier, Lonos waited for him to heal his spine completely. He did that while watching and smiling. This time around, Rain closed his eyes in order to sharpen his instincts once more... there was no point in looking at Lonos when his attacks were that unusual, after all.
All of a sudden, Rain got punched in his chin, and then his mind blanked for a moment while his head was raised... and then he was sent downward with another attack on his face. That made him land on the ground with his face against it. When Rain tried to get up, he was hit on his back and that pushed him downward once more.
"I think this stance suits you."
Rain let out a sigh and then tried to get up again. Once more Lonos tried to hit his back and that worked, but in the last moment, Rain expanded his domain and then he felt the attack and that wasn’t all... he was also able to sense the distortion in time and space.
"A non-physical attack, huh?" Rain asked. "Do you want me to understand it completely?"
"By all means."
When Rain got up, he was punched on his left side, and then his body slid in the opposite direction before it stopped. Lonos raised his eyebrows since Rain’s head moved to the side at the last moment and rotated as well... his stance also allowed him to minimize the damage by sliding on the ground... almost as if he had predicted the attack.
"Fortus, huh? Your prediction power can’t be compared to his."
"I am not competing... for now," Rain smirked.
Rain’s skills on the probability path granted him a small advantage in anticipating Lonos’s attacks, albeit with a degree of uncertainty. Through careful analysis of past events and subtle cues in the environment, Rain could estimate the likelihood of a forthcoming assault, narrowing down the window of opportunity for counteraction.
While the success rate of Rain’s predictions may have been relatively low, the mere act of utilizing the probability path forced Lonos to reveal his hand and initiate his domain, a crucial step in Rain’s defensive strategy. With his domain activated, Rain could sense the subtle shifts in the fabric of reality, alerting him to the imminent threat and allowing him to prepare accordingly.
Moreover, by equipping the information path in conjunction with the probability path, Rain could enhance his ability to analyze the nature of Lonos’s attacks. The information path provided Rain with real-time data and insights into the mechanics of Lonos’s attacks, enabling him to discern patterns and vulnerabilities that would otherwise remain hidden.
Lvl 1: Probability Perception - Initiates the ability to perceive the underlying probabilities inherent in events and situations, gaining insight into the likelihood of various outcomes. You can see a percentage of the chance of success of your actions when activating this skill.
Lvl 10: Probability Calculation - Calculates probabilities using statistical methods and mathematical models, quantifying the likelihood of specific events occurring based on available data.
After three attacks, Rai. He succeeded again in decreasing the power of the attack by fixing his body stance, and he also managed to understand Lonos’ attack.
"A delayed attack... you launch when you want it and make it land when you want it," Rain said. "It is even more sure hit than by using a space distortion."
"Not bad. It is a pity that just using Rais power you can’t copy my ability. So, how are you planning to deal with that? I just had this idea, what is going to happen. Are you going to find a solution or are you going to die before that happens?"
Lonos decided to show his nasty side for a bit, and then began to attack Rain every half a second... his body was pushed to the sides time and time again and while he could feel the attack coming, he couldn’t do a single thing about it.
Lonos’s attack transcended the boundaries of conventional combat, manifesting as a conceptual assault that defied traditional notions of defense and evasion. Rooted in the principles of the Schrödinger effect, Lonos’s attack existed in a state of simultaneous existence and non-existence until the moment of its actualization, akin to a quantum superposition.
This conceptual nature of Lonos’s attack rendered it impervious to conventional means of defense or evasion. Like a wave function collapsing into a definite state upon observation, Lonos’s assault materialized with an inevitability that defied prediction or prevention. It was as though reality itself bent to accommodate the sheer conceptual weight of his attack, transcending the limitations of physical law.
In essence, Lonos’s assault was not merely a physical strike but a metaphysical phenomenon, a distortion of reality itself that defied comprehension. Its very nature challenged Rain’s understanding of combat, forcing him to confront an adversary whose power transcended the confines of the physical realm.
Before long, Rain’s face began to distort... while he was able to survive being burned to almost nothing by the red star, those punches shocked him to the core, and he could barely stay conscious through them.
