Chapter 1467: Price

"Before deciding anything, let’s wait and see for a few days about the progress of our troops," Esmeralda said. "We will think by ourselves the enemies that we should choose to this operation and then talk about it in one week."

"For the time being, you should focus on leveling up the aspect of Matter path and then learn more about the skills that the dragon god obtained, Rain," Branden said. "We will handle everything else."

"Sounds good to me," Rain said.

Sharing the weight of the situation with everyone was truly useful since they left the pocket dimension determined and ready to work as much as possible. Rain soon saw them joining the others in the training sessions, and that showed their resolve.

"Well, I don’t have time to waste anymore," Rain said and then used Teleport.

In the next moment, Rain appeared close to the sun... he was so close that his skin began to burn already, and he couldn’t even open his eyes. However, he endured it.

The skill of Energy Absorption leveled up.

The skill Energy Conversion Leveled up.

The skill of Energy Absorption leveled up.

The skill Energy Conversion Leveled up.

At the same time, Rain used the mana that he obtained in that process to level up the skill of the Matterweaver path... hopefully, enduring that for one week will be enough to unlock all of the skills.

"This will be pretty painful, huh?" Elisabetha asked. "I don’t usually want to talk that much, but I can tell that you need anything to keep your head away from the pain."

"How thoughtful of you," Rain said while clenching his teeth.

The skills of the aspects needed one hundred times more experience to level up, so it took several minutes before Rain could make the first skill level up... he could tell that he was going to have a blast during the next few days, and he was quite used to pain.

"Are you going to follow Esmeralda’s plan?" Elisabetha asked. "Even I can tell that you are hesitant about it and even if you try to avoid thinking about it, you considered invading one of the enemies bases and then facing one of the machine gods alone. Probably Lidos since he can control the aspect of Spirits... Knowing you, you will try to come up with a way to revive your friends, all of them with that kind of power if they die."

"The power of life and death is too great for human hands," Rain said. "I also don’t trust that knowledge in the overseer’s hands."

"Even though he started the current human society?" Elisabetha asked.

"He did that out of his own interests, not because he is particularly fond of humans," Rain explained.

The concept of reviving the dead was not entirely foreign to those who delved into the mysteries of the spirit aspect. With the right combination of skills from the matter path, it seemed easy that one could reconstruct a body and restore life to those who had passed on. It was a surprising prospect, one that held the promise of undoing the irreversible and bringing back loved ones from beyond the veil of death.

Yet, despite the allure of such power, Rain found himself troubled by the implications of wielding it. As a reincarnated individual himself, he grappled with the notion of tampering with the natural order of life and death. It wasn’t just a matter of personal belief or moral conviction; it was a fundamental understanding that life gained its meaning and significance from its finite nature.

In Rain’s eyes, the prospect of widespread resurrection carried with it the seeds of a new society, one where death held no sway and mortality became little more than a temporary inconvenience. It was a future he found unsettling, for he believed that life’s true beauty lay in its impermanence, in the knowledge that each moment was precious because it was fleeting...

Still, considering the amount of pain he was enduring to find the best options available, Rain’s patience was running thin, and he was caring less and less about such things.

The Matterweaver’s path leveled up.

Lvl 35: Mana Conduction - Infuses materials with the ability to channel and manipulate magical energy, facilitating the creation of enchanted artifacts and constructs. Improves the speed and quality of artifacts by ten percent per level.

"... It is called matterweaver’s path, but all the skills have mana in it... I wonder why Ateros followed this path in question," Rain thought. "Only the dragon god can answer this question now since Ateros is gone."

"Maybe he decided to take a more supporting role, not like you found that considering the memories of Hilo and Loks," Elisabetha said. "Unless he was working for the top three machine gods... Lonos, Arel, and Fortus."

"You have a point..." Rain said.

Although Rain had developed some resistance to fire magic and heat, the radiation emitted by the sun almost turned that resistance into close to nothing, so he soon had to stop only using the energy obtained into the experience and used to heal himself... He could have asked Terra to heal him with the power of her seal, but he didn’t want to spread the news about that painful training process. Not like anyone had the skills necessary to use it yet. Still, it was better to avoid that kind of future.

Fortunately, after the end of the first day, Rain made considerable progress in that path and he confirmed once more that Ateros followed a more support route.

Lvl 40: Mana Warding - Imbues crafted materials with protective wards and barriers, enhancing their resilience against magical attacks and disruptions. This spell can also be used to restore damaged parts of organic and inorganic matter. Higher levels increase its effectiveness by ten percent.

Lvl 45: Mana Emanation - Projects concentrated bursts of mana energy from crafted materials, unleashing devastating offensive capabilities or supportive effects. You can unleash the true potential of those materials, but they will be destroyed afterward.
