Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix-Chapter 1015: Forge
Caught in a difficult position, Vanessa found herself unable to release the stored energy, and the dark scepter became a conduit for the overwhelming electrical force. Instead of executing a counterattack, she was forced to defend herself with the very lightning she had harnessed, creating a dazzling display of destructive power.
The sky erupted in a chaotic symphony of thunder and cascading lightning as Vanessa desperately fended off the relentless attacks. The once-controlled situation had spiraled into a chaotic struggle for survival against the forces of nature, leaving Vanessa to confront the elemental fury unleashed upon her with every blinding bolt that tore through the atmosphere.
It was truly the scene of the end of the world… lightning bolts falling down colliding with ones going upward. The air became charged with energy and the temperature skyrocketed… Vanessa felt her mind getting tired for using all that much power when she wasn't used to.
The dragonfly in the distance silently watched her getting more exhausted with every passing moment… there was a calm look in its face and calculating coldness coming from the beast. It didn't mind at all getting rid of Vanessa like that, very safely and with ruthless efficiency.
Before long, even though she could absorb all the mana in the surroundings, Vanessa was overtook by a powerful headache that paralyzed her body.
All of a sudden, a lightning bolt hit her and Vanessa felt every fiber of her being burned… for several moments, she didn't know anything other than pain… but in the end, she still raised her scepter to block all the other attacks and absorb their energy… she kept the staff raised even while she fell on the ground… little by little, the energy began to pass through the staff and burn her once more.
"Fuck, fuck… fuck," Rain muttered.
Rain was starting to get sick of all that… he had to live his own life, why did he have to see the end of the others? At that point in time, he couldn't help but think that the first test was meant only to drop his guard… Eventually, Vanessa also realized the futility of her struggles and decided to do what was necessary.

For a moment, Rain almost felt thankful for that end… but soon he realized the danger of thinking along those lines… just like that, Vanessa found her end as well.
Rain groaned in annoyance… he still had a long road ahead of him and those memories weren't helping him at all since those beasts didn't exist anymore.
Still, the next memory had been of Elisabetha, even though she wasn't part of the group that worked with Zeus, he somehow knew how she had ended… and it looked right after she got the parts of the ominous sword… after finishing the fine details somehow with no arms, Vanessa eventually walked straight to the weapon and made it pierce her heart.
"Fuck… these assholes are all insane," Rain thought.
Rain almost could hear Elisabetha laughing while her chest was piercing the sword… she was truly insane. Still, anyone would have lost their minds after seeing a battlefield with replicas of themselves… although that memory had been the shortest, it had been the most painful and intense.
To the point that Rain considered throwing at the sun those relics for good since they were proving to be more annoying than helpful.
Once more, the memory faded to black for several moments before Rain started to see another memory… this time, it was Maxime hammering something with his relic. At first, Rain ignored that since he was truly curious to know as to how that guy died given that he also thought as himself as someone not brave enough to fight.
Maxime was in another dark workshop, one filled with several glowing small red bottles… now and then, he would drop the red liquid in a weapon and then hammer down again and see if something happened. Most of the time, the weapon would break for some reason and from inside out.
"Is that… blood?" Rain furrowed his eyebrows. "How and where he got it this much at this time?"
It was red… so it wasn't dragons blood, the blood also had been carefully stored… but there was too many of them. Rain wondered where in the hell Maxime got all of that and what purpose he had for it… Rain only learned their purpose when a weapon finally was crafted with the help of the blood. It began to emit a powerful glow and it made him recall the minor relics that he had found.
Maxime stored the weapon on a box and then began to work on another weapon… the same process repeated themselves countless times… Rain didn't see the failures at some point being forged, but Rain could feel the exhaustion of Maxime piling up… it seemed that he had been doing that for countless years with no break.
There was nothing on the workshop, nor food and water, only his tools and creations… he was only enduring all of that thanks to the draconic power inside of him.
Eventually, Rain saw a golden bow being forged… it was the bow that he gave to Asche… then he saw the other weapons that he had found, shield, spear, a gun… all of them crafted with human blood somehow.
It seemed that Maxime could imprint their essence in those relics and give them power… but the spirit transference wasn't complete since the relics didn't have enough materials for it and there wasn't enough data on the blood samples…
Although he had countless blood sample, only a handful of them worked on the relics… all of them had been carefully stored and at some point, Rain was able to feel Maxime's intentions… even if he was too coward to fight, he at least decided to work and die trying to give the future generations a means to fight the enemies, and that was how the minor relics were created…
