Chapter 486: 486. Mission

"Rank 4," Uncle Darien answered.

Rank 4.

Dylan looked at his uncle with a strange expression. If he was not wrong, Uncle Darien’s evaluation was at rank 4, right?

Uncle Darien seemed to notice Dylan’s look and rolled his eyes. "My evaluation is at the late rank 4 if you’re asking. They can’t make the ranks too detailed yet because the data is lacking. However, they have the basis for rank 5 and the estimation. That big mutated animal should be rank 5 based on their estimation."

"Does rank 5 and rank 4 so different?" This time, it was Anna’s turn to ask.

Even if the researchers were the one who made the ranking, Anna would feel strange if the difference between rank 4 and rank 5 to be so big.

"Yes and no." Uncle Darien thought for a moment.

The ranking system from the research institute has been spread and there was some detailed information in the guidebook. But it was only up to rank 4 because most of the rank 4 were already the top in each bases.

It was really hard for those who had reached rank 4 to obtain anything more than early rank 4. Middle rank 4 was only one or two in each bases and they were considered the most powerful.

Uncle Darien’s rank was actually already at the highest.

That was if they exclude the two little monsters in front of him from the calculation. Because none of the other awakened in City A Base could possibly contend with them.

Other awakened in other cities might still be possible if they have some kind of methods to get themselves much stronger than usual. But whether it was true or not, Uncle Darien didn’t know and didn’t want to know.

It was enough for him to stay here.

Being too ambitious would only backfire on him as he might end up not having anything at all in the end.

"What do you mean by yes and no?" Dylan asked.

"Well... They didn’t know how strong a rank 5 human can be." Uncle Darien rubbed his forehead. The officials were mostly only at the evaluation of late rank 4 in various bases. And those who had reached rank 5 or above... were people they couldn’t offend.

For this matter, the official and researchers also shouted their regret and displeasure.

Naturally, they wished that they could get something they could research and so on, but most people who were already so strong were naturally unwilling. They had managed to reach this rank through hard work and a lot of effort.

Who among them would be willing to be used for test by the researchers?

They would be unwilling.

Some of them were kind enough to give some samples, but that was it. They didn’t want to experiment and the higher ups also knew that for those who were able to reach rank 5 or above were all very powerful.

They couldn’t offend and these people might even pave the way up with time.

So the status quo was like this.

"There are those who are very strong among the awakened, but the researchers didn’t have the clear line where the rank 5 should be. There’s already the current rank evaluation for rank 5 by now, but it’s not very comprehensive." Uncle Darien sighed. "And compared to rank 4... a rank 5 can instantly kill a rank 4."

Dylan and Anna looked at each other.

Well...

They didn’t know what rank evaluation would they get with their current rank, but they could guess that it should be pretty high. After all, if they were asked to deal with Uncle Darien, they were sure that they could instantly kill him.

Not that they wanted to, though.

"I see." Dylan nodded.

They were at least rank 5 based on the evaluation. Or perhaps could reach rank 6 if the researchers have come with some kind of baseline for the strength. He was not entirely sure about those researchers and what Anna could see from the research forum was also limited.

After all, Anna might be given the title of researcher but she was not truly someone from the system.

The authority she had was limited but her information was protected as requested.

Anna couldn’t see everything in the research forum but at the very least what she could see was very interesting and Anna liked it very much so far.

"So, how is it, are you two willing to take on this mission?" Uncle Darien asked.

If these two didn’t want to, then he would have to figure out another way to deal with that powerful big mutated animal out there. If that big mutated animal came to their base, there might be a lot of destroyed things here.

It would be quite painful for them.

"Just go and see it." Dylan shrugged. He looked at his uncle. "Just made sure to protect yourself, Uncle. We won’t be here to help you if get into trouble."

Uncle Darien rolled his eyes. "What kind of troubles do you expect me to get into? I’ll definitely not want to get into any trouble at all if possible. And I don’t think that there would be more big mutated animals coming to attack lately unless someone provoke them."

"Don’t put yourself at the frontline."

Uncle Darien vomited, "I’m one of the leader!"

"It doesn’t mean you should put yourself in danger for the sake of your people when it’s unnecessary." Dylan looked at his uncle and then added, "It’ll be useless if you can’t survive in the end."

Useless?

It was not completely useless in Uncle Darien’s opinion, but seeing Dylan’s look, Uncle Darien knew that this matter was non negotiable. He could only sigh and nod his head in agreement.

He would have to take care and made sure that he would not get hurt in the process or something.

After all, Uncle Darien didn’t actually want to die.

He still wanted to live for a long time to see how this era would eventually unfold.
