Arc 2, Chapter 138 — Surprise, Surprise~

Battle 3: Florianna Vs Payne.
Their last match ended as Draw, meaning they were both qualified to move to Phase 2. But this didn’t quench the fire burning in them to know who the strongest was amongst them.
Floriana stepped out slumbering, and Payne stepped out doing frog leg exercises as he hoped forward. Truly a Macho Gym guy. This guy was so obsessed with working out. They couldn’t help wondering if he also works out in his sleep.
Soon, the duo appeared at the center of the stage. And when the signal was given they slowly backed away, before revealing their shards.
Floriana revealed her scissors, and Payne revealed his brass knuckles.
So Fast!
Levon was taken aback, when watching Floriana’s dance of death, choreographed to perfection. Her giant scissors twirled and twisted with unpredictable and erratic movements.
’All this from a sleepy person?’
Levon felt his insides churn with thrill.
Floriana was beautiful... He wasn’t referring to her physical Beauty, but the monstrosity she was currently unleashing across the stage.
~Boom!
The platform broke, with giant chunks and pieces of stone breaking off and flying around menacingly.
Pretty, wasn’t it? Even while asleep, her instincts were topnotch.
Levon would even argue that they were better. The sleeping beautiful unleashed chaos that hypnotized her audience so deeply, some blurted out their sudden ’love’ for her.
"Don’t stop me, I think I’m in love."
"Floriana Micasumi... What a babe. What a Sleeping Beauty."
Please, can anyone wake them from this hypnotism that has now seized their being? Florianna was just too breathtaking to watch.
However, Payne didn’t fall short of perfection either. He dodged, blocked, punched and shattered with ease.
Payne jumped back and forth like a boxer, switching from Tai Chi, Karate, Boxing and all sorts of professional styles to get close enough to Floriana.
Already, everyone could see a difference in their fighting styles.
’She’s better with long range attacks, and he’s better with close range attacks.’ Levon concluded.
Payne would draw closer, and Floriana would keep backing off, counter attacking to a safe enough point to launch attacks.
’This guy isn’t easy either.’ Levon felt his back growing sweaty when staring again Payne’s relentless tactics.
Payne liked going straight for the kill, but could also be flexible when it called for it. Sometimes, his actions could be as loud as thunder. And other times, he was like a shadow, slipping between the cracks of light.
~Bang!
Sparks between the two kept dancing whenever both weapons clashed.
~Bang!
~Bang!
~Bang!
It was beautiful.
Waves resounded out, as exposed pressure pushed the flying rocks towards the crowd with every clash the duo made. And for a moment, there was utter silence in the arena.
Have you ever watched something so spectacular that you forget to speak?
Right there and then, their minds forgot to think, and their eyes followed the battle mesmerizingly.
In the arena, the duo duplicated their shards, and even revealed a few more techniques that were still dull and new. However, given time, it would prove to be frightening!
Winchester and many others also watched with glistening eyes.
My, my, my... .these 2 had bountiful potential, that it was practically oozing out the entire building.
"Floriana Micasumi... Payne Ignier... I will remember you both."
.
.
The battle progressed till the end, with both sides battling with all their might.
Then, Boom!—
They struck their final blows barely 1 second before their battle ended.
"Call!" The host no longer laid on the ground, slowly rising to stare at both deeply.
Everyone held their breaths, as he calmly scrutinized the duo. Finally, a smile stretched in his lips, seemingly satisfied with the duo.
"Yet, another DRAW."
Floriana Micasumi vs Payne Ignier.
The verdict was announced: DRAW.
Once again, they proved to be equally matched.
"Worthy of fighting among the Top 3 Battles."
"These 2... these 2 are magnificent!"
"Dammit, I want to know how their brains grew to master such techniques this fast."
"Pooh! What does this have to do with brain ability? Are you trying to say that we’re all dumb, which is why we weren’t as good as them when we were Bloodren 10s?"
"Exactly! What does brain power have to do with this? This is clearly TALENT, okay?"
"In the end, they’re simply too good to be Bloodren 10s!"
"Indeed, I’ve never seen anyone with their Shards talent, battle the way they did at their current level."
"True... I’ll have to keep an eye out for these 2, to see just how high they’ll be able to climb. Who knows... and maybe if they’re lucky they’ll one day get to talk to us, senior Bloodrens, one on one."
"That is, it will be giving them a face, that I, a Bloodren 7, to talk to mere Bloodren 10s."
"Blah, blah, blah~"
Watching The slumbering Florianna and the Macho man Payne Ignier leave, many people commented on the potential these 2 had.
Just like the last time, the arena floors now needed relating.
In came the giant Construction Snails, that trailed the broken spaces, repairing and cementing everything in place with the help of the unique mucus they secreted.
No matter how many Bloodren 10s in the crowd these snails, they were moving too fast to be ’snails’, right?
They did different things depending on their curled up antennas, shell colors and shell spiral patterns. Some only broke down the rubble into fiber particles when passing over the affected spots, while others secreted slug-like mucus that cemented everything in place.
In no time, the arena was as good as new. And soon enough, it was time for battle 2!
"Finally."
Several people muttered, watching the floating cube reveal 2 names... 2 names many had long recalled.
Battle 2! — Artilla Feral Vs Hendrix Von L.
Their last battle ended in a TIE. But what about this time?
As per usual, Hendrix came out, reading yet another book, different from the one they last saw him with.
Artilla walked with a cold and icy face, despite her inner innocence and shy nature.
Reaching the arena’s center, Hendrix slowly did away with his glasses, carefully folding them and placing them in his inner pocket. His book was already outside the stage... though it would be hard to say if it will sustain any wear and tears after the battle commenced.
On the stage, the air cracked with tension, as both formidable figures casually waited for the signal.
’So much Spirit.’
With the duo facing each other at the center stage, the Host effortlessly raised his hand with a large grin.
Then, the duo unleashed their shards, and all hell broke loose.
FIGHT!
Artilla moved first. In a burst of motion, she lunged forward using her Sharded Fan.
Last time, she got a taste of ’aura’. And after many trials during these last 2 weeks, they could unleash her ’aura’ affinity for 2 minutes max.
Artilla channeled aura to her fan blades, sending waves of ice bullets at Hendrix. And just then, several people in the crowd stood in disbelief, their jaws so dropped to the ground it looked dislocated.
Some people weren’t there during the first match, so their shock was to be expected.
"Color me RED. It’s AURA... IT’S FREAKIN AURA!"
"When I heard that this Artilla was an Aura user I felt it should be a lie. What is the percentage of aura users amongst us? It’s less than 0.001%!... But... but who knew the rumors were true?"
Many felt trepidation in their hearts, feeling the unfairness of the matter.
First of all, Artilla was a Dual shard user, the rarest type of Shard users there was. On top of that, both of her shards were of top-tier Pile Quality.
—And now you tell them she’s also an Aura user and you don’t expect them to feel boil with envy.
Dammit, why wasn’t it them?
Several people were still twisting and turning. However, when they saw The ice shards get engulfed by peculiar smoky shadowy balls, they were even more taken aback than before.
Shadow... shadow...
Know that even those who attended their first match, didn’t see this shadow back then. So how could they not jump from their seats?
"What the hell was that? Did you guys see it?"
"I saw it! They were shadow balls. Anyone know about them?"
"Shit, I do! It’s one of the rarest and strongest aura users can have!"
"What? It turns out he’s an aura user too?"
"Crazy! Crazy! This wasn’t there during the last match between the 2. So how come he has it now?"
"GOD! You’re messing with me right? Could it be that being an aura user is an ability so early to come by these days? Didn’t they say the percentage of awakeners was incredibly low?"
"I don’t believe it! I don’t believe I won’t be able to awaken my aura too!"
The crowd went crazy from the mere sight of 2 aura users.
In the cubicles, several important personnel dangerously narrowed their eyes, a hint of possession closing their pupils.
Want... Want... WANT!
They wanted these 2 under their command!
Backstage, even Levon was dumbfounded by Hendrix’s shadow aura.
Artilla’s, he knew of... But Hendrix’s, came as a surprise.
