I Was Transmigrated As An Extraordinary Extra-Chapter 120
Chapter 120: Chapter 120
As we stepped through the portal, the breathtaking sights of Eldoria unfolded before us, like stepping into a painting. Every time I traveled to a new place, I couldn’t help but marvel at its beauty. It makes me wish that my real world could be accessed through a simple portal. Just pass through it and boom, you’re already in a place you want to visit.
"As you all know, we will be going to Velvet Grotto today." Sylvester announced, his voice carrying an air of excitement.
"Nice! What are we waiting for then? Let’s go!" Angela chimed in, her enthusiasm infectious. I could see the glimmer of anticipation in her eyes, and it made sense—Velvet Grotto was part of Eldoria’s upper-class lifestyle, a world filled with glamour and allure. Considering how rich she is, she must have visited this place in the past.
"Before that, the reason why we’re going there is because there will be a big event planned for tonight, and I requested them about coming to watch, and they happily said yes." Sylvester’s tone shifted, taking on a more serious tone that caught our attention. "Of course, you know the drill: be back before curfew. I don’t want to repeat what happened last time in Aurélien."
"Alright then, let’s get inside the bus!" Sylvester resumed, his cheerful demeanor returning as he led the way, grinning from ear to ear.
to sit with my friends. However, as I approached, I was met with a rather deliberate barrier formed by some of the club members, who seemed to be shielding me from joining them. Perplexed and a bit annoyed, I glanced around for an open seat, but the bus was filling up quickly.
With nowhere else to go, I ended up seated next to Kairos again. My heart sank momentarily. I really didn’t want to engage with him after everything that had happened earlier.
Feeling the bus rumble to life, I leaned my head back against the glass window, the rhythm of the vehicle rocking me gently. My eyelids grew heavy, and despite my efforts to stay alert, I slept soundly. Unbeknownst to me, my head slowly slumped to the side, landing comfortably on Kairos’ shoulder.
The students erupted in soft squeals and playful whispers at this sudden display, however, the commotion hushed instantly when Kairos shot a sharp glance toward the onlookers.
Among the distant sounds of laughter and chatter, I slept soundly, lulled by the gentle sway of the bus and the warmth emitting from the sunlight streaming through the window.
Time passed quickly, and after about twenty minutes, I felt a gentle nudge on my shoulder, stirring me awake. Kairos’ voice, low and slightly amused, broke through the haze of sleep. "We’re already here," he said.
Dazed, I blinked a couple of times, adjusting to my surroundings before turning to face him. "Oh—thanks," I mumbled, feeling a blush creeping onto my cheeks as I realized I had just used him as a pillow. Embarrassment washed over me, but I made a quick exit, jumping out of the bus to find my friends. They were at the foot of the mountain and there is another portal to teleport them on top.
I overheard Angela saying, "It’s been so long since I was last here."
"How old were you when you first came here?" Whitney asked, her curiosity piqued.
"About 8 or 10?" Angela replied, her voice trailing off as her expression shifted. It was clear that the memory was bittersweet. It must have been because her older brother was with her the last time.
Before I could say anything to cheer her up, Cypher piped up, "It’s my first time here. Are you going to be our guide?"
Angela’s energy surged back again and retorted, "Of course!"
"Remi, have you been here before?" Cypher asked me as soon as he saw me, pulling me beside him.
"No," I said, feeling the excitement of going inside.
"Then the two of us are new—" he started, but his words were abruptly interrupted by Kairos stepping in.
"Me either, so that makes the three of us. Right, Remi?"
Before I could respond, Cypher shot back, "Since when did the two of you get so close?" His tone was cold and serious.
Kairos, unfazed, leaned back with an air of playful arrogance. "Didn’t you know? We were already close back in—hmmpf!"
In a split second, I reacted instinctively, quickly covering his mouth with both of my hands to stifle his words. "Shut it!" I hissed, my eyes wide with panic as I glanced at Cypher, who looked both annoyed and confused.
Without giving Kairos the chance to resist, I yanked him away from the group. "We’ll be back for a moment," I declared. I don’t want them to know that we’re close, at least not now.
"Remi!" Cypher called after us, reaching out, but Angela quickly pulled him back into their conversation, redirecting his attention with an enthusiastic discussion about her favorite spots in Eldoria.
While they were having their own worlds, Sylvester approached one of the guards stationed by the portal entrance and he confidently showed his academy ID and handed over the ornate invitation from Earl Romero. The guard inspected the documents, his brow furrowing slightly as he scrutinized every detail.
"Wait here," the guard barked in a gruff voice, turning on his heel and disappearing into the portal.
A few moments passed like an eternity before the guard returned, a nod of approval on his face. "You’re good. Move along," he instructed, stepping aside to allow us entry.
As we approached, I couldn’t help but notice the security measures in place. We were funneled through a baggage check where officers methodically examined our belongings. Then came the body scanner—its luminescent arches casting an eerie glow.
"Jeez, we’re just cadets," I murmured.
Velvet Grotto had everything to offer in regards to money: casinos, dueling arenas, auction houses, academic seminars, lectures, corporate keynotes, etc. It wasn’t an exaggeration to say Velvet Grotto was the reason Eldoren was the second most powerful country.
Once cleared, we finally stepped through the threshold into Velvet Grotto, and the world within felt entirely surreal. The atmosphere was pulsating with energy—vibrant colors from neon lights danced around us, illuminating the diverse crowd of people engaged in everything from fervent discussions to intense games of chance.
This place was a variety of opportunity and decadence: casinos bustling with laughter and shouts of winners, dueling arenas where combatants faced off for both glory and stakes, auction houses displaying extravagant treasures, and corners dedicated to intellectual pursuits with academic seminars and corporate keynotes.
As I absorbed the grandeur around me, it wasn’t an exaggeration to say that Velvet Grotto was the reason Eldoren held its standing as the second most powerful country. The wealth generated here was unimaginable, and I couldn’t shake the feeling that it thrummed with both potential and peril.
"Look over there!" Angela exclaimed, her eyes sparkling with excitement as she pointed towards the luxurious entrance of a nearby casino. "Sylvester, we have permission to go to the casino, right?"
Sylvester responded with a chuckle, "Of course! You’re all adults now, but still—try not to be reckless."
"Nice!" Angela cheered, unable to contain her enthusiasm. In an instant, she dashed towards the casino, leaving Whitney, Edge, and Cypher with little choice but to follow her.
Kairos, on the other hand, had his gaze fixed on something else entirely. "And there’s the dueling arena—do you think we can catch some matches?" His voice was laced with a mix of admiration and curiousity.
I shot him a glare that could cut through steel. "Are you crazy? We’re still cadets!" I don’t care about him, I know he can handle himself just fine but I want this trip to go smoothly as possible. I was more afraid of the consequences of someone recognizing him here. A high-profile event like this attracted attention, and Kairos has a lot of enemies to begin with.
Undeterred, he shrugged, raising his hands in mock innocence. "Well, where do you want to go, then?"
"I’d rather sleep in my room, see ya," I said, waving him off dismissively before turning away and going upstairs. The owner had been generous enough to reserve rooms for us, even if only for a short while, and the promise of some peace and quiet was far more appealing than the chaos below.
Once I stepped into my room, I immediately checked for hidden devices, a habit ingrained in me from my training. Satisfied that my room was clean and secure, I finally allowed myself to fall onto the soft bed and closed my eyes.
[You sure you won’t go to the casino?] The system’s voice pierced through the silence, disturbing my sleep.
"Go away! I’m trying to sleep here!" I hissed, irritation flaring as I rolled onto my side, willing myself to relax.
[Oh come on! You’re missing the fun! I want to watch!]
I gritted my teeth, trying to lull myself to sleep. I won’t listen to this damn system’s words.
[Are you sure you don’t want to spend a little and earn big? I know you like money]
I hate to say this, but I almost considered to go down and waste my hard earned money. I know how those casinos work and I won’t play-
[Oh look! Your debt increased just now. When are you planning to pay it all?]
That last message struck a nerve. Before I realized it, I found myself pushing myself up and walking straight to the casino.
