Chapter 128 - The third day

Huzzah! I have survived yet another day! How glorious is that? How wonderful is that? I can not even begin to tell you all how hard it was to get through the day without anyone dying! I did not have a nose then, but it was suffocating nonetheless!

Ah! As I turned my almost featureless face upward and spread my arms as if embracing the air, the morning sun once again graced me with its beautiful beams! PRAISE THEE! Wanna hear any advice? Go outside, touch some grass, and embrace nature. That oughta help with whatever damning situation you find yourself in. At least, that is what I genuinely think.

The more I bask under the morning sun, the more I feel its warmth permeating my skin, giving me those precious vitamin D and transforming my bones into something better! It is pleasant having some D penetrating your body in the morning!

Okay, that was both out of line and very gay, something only Han would say out of the blue. I apologize but cut me some slacks here. I am too happy for everyone to be present now! freёweɓnovel.com

And I am not getting to the good part yet! Do you know what the best of all things is? Kurokawa's mother never came home last night! She never showed up! That was possibly the best thing I have seen done by this current iteration that did not include me losing my mind half of the time. Although we had to put our guard on the first few hours of the night, dozing off here and there until being smashed into Amirmir land personally, there was no need for a dispute or discussion! The imminent threat that had the potential to send enormous waves into Kurokawa's psyche and push her to absolute madness has somehow gone completely without us touching a pinky.

Oh, talking about Kuro's circumstances, somehow, she is way behind me. From ten meters away from us, Kurokawa's slender body seems so fragile and delicate. I have no idea why she did that, however. Since we took off from her house, I noticed the bookworm gradually slowing her pace while mumbling and looking around us, seemingly figuring out something invisible. When asked, Kurokawa replied: "I'm just deep in thought. You guys go on ahead, especially you, C. You shouldn't make Laura worry so much." Despite feeling grateful for Kuro's understanding, there was absolutely nothing I could say to retort after hearing that from her since my heart was filled with shame toward my lawful girlfriend. I still owe our class rep some privacy. Big time! Still, I wish Kurokawa would stand alongside us rather than distancing herself. If Kuro thinks she is not worthy in any shape or form, I will have to talk to her about it.

"Did you sleep well last night, darling?" Rachel, grabbing my right arm and pushing her two mounds into it, breathes into my ear. Her actions instantly make goosebumps rise on my skin. She is holding one box of food on her other arm, the same thing we used yesterday for lunch.

"Very. I didn't even dream. The bed was quite cramped, though."

Four people in a room that was supposed to be for Kurokawa only. Go figure out how that works because I have no idea. As for our protagonist, Han Som, he was invited to stay in the guest room instead of sleeping in Kurokawa's. And if you need me to explain why, you have not been paying attention.

"Agreed! I believe it would have been better if we had gotten one person out of the room." Laura holds my left hand tightly and lets out a deep sigh. The glare from the class rep's amber eyes, even though not directed at me, is still cold and sharp. "Someone with blond hair and blue eyes would suffice."

Unfortunately, rather than accepting Laura's clear jabbing, Rachel's mischievous smile grew shyly: "Aw, come on, Reppy. Don't you feel like it's nice to spend time together? The cold nights will be warmed up by our intertwined bodies! That's a great way to build up relationships!" While saying this, she twists her body left and right. Rachel also rubs her thighs together with my hand, making it sometimes 'accidentally' graze that forbidden area ever so slightly. I did not need a quantum physicist to say she did it on purpose.

If I had eyes, I would have looked at the housewife pulling my arm into her chest pleadingly because nothing good would come out of that provocative sentence she uttered. Just as I expected, upon hearing Rachel's lewd remarks and witnessing her rival's action, the atmosphere around Laura became instantly intense.

Strangely enough, Laura makes a big "Hmph" and does not bother replying. She pulls me ahead a bit faster than before, and that is basically it. I do not know if she knew arguing with Rachel, whom she thought to have a tremendous amount of shamelessness, was a waste of time or if she did not bother as much as before. Judging by the chilling air on my left side, I think the first idea sums it up nicely.

"Ah, same as yesterday! My master is undefeated! I wonder when my turn will come for happy days like this?"

Our alleged protagonist, Han, who is some distance away from us, is enjoying his life to the fullest. He even has his hands inside his pockets and whistles the opening of his favorite anime. I am not going to lie. He actually looks more relaxed than ever before. Now that I see this comfortable expression on his handsome face, things are starting to clear up. When Rachel or some of the girls were still clinging onto him, he used to put on a painful look. Then again, can we blame the guy? The girls are as precious as they are dangerous. Just because they live in harmony in this iteration does not mean they can always be like that. Plus, I have no clue if the additions of other heroines will affect this ridiculous equilibrium between Laura, Rachel, and Kurokawa. I guess there is no way to know for sure. We will have to wait and see. Fingers crossed, eh!

Ah! I almost forgor!

There is one more thing that I need to inform all of you. Once again, everything has become more well-defined. Unlike yesterday, when hardly anything was on the ground, I can see rocks and pebbles now. Even more so, if observed closely, I could see cracks forming here and there, making the earth more life-like. Trash bags, which used to be nonexistent, are placed at various corners of the streets. Colors are now more vibrant than yesterday, illustrating the background canvas in diverse tones and shades.

However, that is not the most prominent thing. What is crazy about this change is that there is a clear difference in colors between houses. Some are more orange, some are more red. Rather than the white walls and orange tiles we used to have for every building out there, the scenery has definitely changed for the better.

Oh, the cracks that I mentioned earlier are on the walls, too, giving them a distinctive look of time decay, which is a really nice improvement, in my opinion. They are no longer monotonous, thanks to it. Gusts of winds are more prone to happen now, too. As they blow through the streets, these recently formed breezes take up the dust stuck in the crevices from the cracks on the ground and the walls, then bring them upwards into the sky like miniature wind dragons. Rachel and Kurokawa are especially interested in this phenomenon. When they saw it happen for the first time, both had pale faces, which I thought was fine since they probably had never seen something like that before.

One last thing.

The shadow people. They have fingers now. FINGERS!

I feel so much excitement that my heart is palpitating! Do you know that feeling when you see something or someone you know and have rooted for all this time finally become a better versions of themselves? That is what I am feeling! I am like a proud dad! One of these days, I bet they will have full features indistinguishable from a human at some point. This entire game world will not be fiction anymore! The shadow people will have their own lives. They will have jobs, pay taxes, and create online novel-reading platforms! They will even suffer depression and experience happiness like we do!

My world is becoming a real place, a beautiful place. I wonder how the system is managing everything. Does it not cost memories and stuff like that? Bah. What do I know, anyway! Yet, it does not stop me from dreaming! It just gets me so excited, you know!

"Stand behind the yellow line, C." While my brain wanders, Laura suddenly squeezes my hand tightly.

"Oh! I didn't notice we were already at the station. Thanks, Reppy!" I unconsciously blurted Rachel's nickname for our class rep and immediately regretted doing so. "I'm so sorry... I didn't mean to say that..."

Amber eyes glance at me, transparent and crystal clear. I see no hint of negative emotions inside them.

"It's okay." Laura's expression remains calm. She looks nothing like when Rachel is saying Reppy. You can even consider this Laura and that Laura to be two separate entities. How on earth did I even manage to pull this legendary card? On second thought, she was the one who went out of her way to get me...

"Hehe!" Rachel chuckles on my side. "Reppy is such a fitting name for her! Wawa, too! Cute names for cute people! What does everybody think?"

A vein pops up on Laura's temple in an instant. How our class representative maintained her composure and did not go bananas was a mystery.

By the way, I see Han trying to answer Rachel's question. Being a nice bro and not wanting the guy to suffer deadly stares, I shake my head from left to right, letting him know it was a rhetorical question rather than a normal one. Seeing that, Han nods his head toward me to show his gratitude and keeps his mouth shut.

"The train is coming into the station. Passengers, please stand behind the yellow line. The train is..."

After minutes of waiting, plus a few more dabs and dodges from Blondy and our class representative, we board the sky train to get to school. Sitting inside one of the carriages, I look outside the window to observe how much this world has changed. Seeing it from here really does bring a different sensation.

The new buildings, roads, and so forth are all clearly visible. Everything is more high-definition than it was yesterday. Not only that, but I also see many shadow people imitating human activities. Some walk around aimlessly, others sit on benches, and even hold items but do not use them. Their movements are generally repetitive and slow, but I have no doubt they will improve if everything keeps going the way it is.

"Why are you smiling, darling?" Rachel asks.

"I'm just thinking about how this world is getting better day by day," I reply.

And how you girls are still here by my side. I did not say that part out loud.

"Aw! You're such a thinker!" With unimaginable speed, Rachel goes in for a kiss. Unfortunately for her, a hand quickly blocks her soft lips from touching my cheek.

"Rachel! That's enough! Keep your stinky mouth off of him!" Laura grunts.

"What are you doing, Reppy! I want one kissy kissy, that's all! It's not going to hurt you!" Blondy huffs. "It's alright, right, C?"

Please let me be a doormat... I am invisible... Invisible... No one can see me, and I can see no one...

"See?! You're making him uncomfortable!" Laura scolds Rachel again.

Ah, fuck...
