The Elf Palace was still focused on recovery. But right now, there was something even more important they needed to do. The wounded Elves had already received treatment and were now just waiting to heal. The dead had been buried with honor. So at present, King Fairon—who had been granted authority by King Gulben to temporarily govern the Elf Palace—had issued new orders.

Those orders were to deal with the corpses of the Ogres, Daemons, and the various kinds of metal constructs—remnants of Laston's army. Of course, King Gulben had approved this after Fairon consulted with him.

King Gulben also understood that uncovering the secrets behind the technology Laston had left behind would be crucial for their future. Even though, deep down, he resented those abominations, he couldn't deny the progress it might bring to their kind.

There were many thoughts weighing on his mind about the recent events and what might come next. But right now, with his condition so poor he couldn't even stand, King Gulben chose to push those thoughts aside and focus on his healing first.

Aerchon still hadn't awakened either, which added to the burden on his mind.

At that moment, King Fairon was in a special chamber beneath the Palace. In front of him lay Laston's corpse, the gaping wound in his chest still visible—left by King Gulben's blade. His body had been well-preserved by his own magic. Even now, there were no signs of decay; it looked nearly identical to the moment of his death.

King Fairon frowned. His eyes were filled with resentment, but also curiosity. What Laston had done to his body was horrifying—yet it also demonstrated a terrifying level of dedication. To alter one's body like that, especially as an Elf, was something Fairon had never imagined possible.

Through the open wound, King Fairon could see the inside of Laston's body—mostly filled with metal, wires, and broken cores.

"All of that… he really went too far," Fairon muttered, shaking his head.

He wanted to dissect Laston's body immediately, to uncover what had been done to make him so powerful. But he couldn't. He had to wait until King Gulben awakened before doing anything further.

Besides that, there was something even more pressing now.

News of Laston's attack on the Palace had no doubt spread far and wide. It wouldn't be long before envoys from other races began to arrive.

They would claim they wanted to help—but of course, their real purpose would be to examine the constructs and the otherworldly power that had now fallen into Elven hands.

King Fairon sighed. He had to buy time until King Gulben recovered. He couldn't let them get too close and steal the remnants of Laston's army—especially after offering no help during the battle, while the Elves had borne the full weight of the conflict and paid dearly in lives and strength.

But he also couldn't provoke them. Right now, the Elves were in no shape to take on another war.

Fairon left the underground chamber, sealing it with his magic so that no one could enter. Then he made his way back to issue new orders to the army.

Back in the faraway ruins where the clash between the four human adventurers and the three rock golems is happening, the tide of battle had finally shifted in their favor.

The golem wielding a massive sword now lay shattered in pieces, nothing more than a pile of stone and glowing dust.

It was Jan's precise shot that sealed its fate. Hund had charged head-on, smashing through the golem's defenses and widening a crack across its chest. And then, with eyes narrowed and breath held, Jan had loosed an enchanted arrow straight into that vulnerable gap.

The arrow pierced through, striking the green core nestled within. The moment the core shattered, the creature's movements halted, its limbs falling limp before its entire body crumbled into scattered rubble.

But their victory was far from complete.

Two golems remained—the one armed with a spear and the other with an axe. Both bore the signs of heavy damage: deep gouges carved by Hund's blade, and scorched stone where Esthres's elemental magic had struck.

The air still pulsed with the remnants of her fire and lightning spells, and steam curled off the rock where ice had melted moments before.

Yet the cracks on their bodies weren't deep or wide enough for Jan to exploit like he had before. These golems, though slowed and slightly staggered, were adapting. Somehow.

Their movements had grown more erratic, less predictable, as if the loss of their sword-bearing comrade had triggered a different protocol. Less calculated defense, more savage aggression.

Esthres stood back with her staff raised, sweat lining her brow as she prepared another spell. Her voice trembled slightly, not from fear but exhaustion—she had pushed herself past her normal limits just to create those small fractures in the stone armor.

Hund, standing at the front with his massive sword resting on one shoulder, was breathing heavily too. His armor bore several dents, and one of his pauldrons had nearly been torn off during a clash.

Behind them all and Annette was crouched low and try her best to not get caught in the battle to not become a burden.

Jan adjusted his quiver, frowning.

"They're holding together too well," he muttered. "I need a bigger crack!."

"Alright, boss! we will make one," Hund growled, dragging his sword along the stone floor as he advanced again.

Esthres nodded without a word, gathering what Magic energy she had left. This next spell would burn the last of her strength.

The two golems lurched forward at once—one thrusting its spear like a battering ram, the other raising its axe for a heavy downward swing.

Jan, his bowstring taut and breath steady, waited for that perfect, split-second window to strike again.

"HAAAAA!!!"

Hund advanced with angry shout and raising his swords. From behind him, fireballs coming in succession toward the golems.

BOOM!

BOOM!

BOOM!

Explosions happened, obstructing the golem's visions of Hund's charging.
