Chapter 1252: Chapter 1252: Hero Finds It Hard to Pass the Beauty Test

"Hey, Crazy... Oh wait, no, Qian-Qian, why are you calling at this hour?"

"Li Muyun! Panpan, Panpan won’t wake up!"

"What!?" You furrowed your brow and asked sternly, "What happened?"

"You know how playful Panpan is. Today she received a package, inside was a holographic gaming helmet. After she used it, she couldn’t wake up!"

"Don’t panic. I’ll head back and check right away!"

Zhao’er, who was right beside you, heard everything clearly. She glanced at the two elegantly packaged boxes in her hand and said, "Looks like someone’s targeting us again."

"Let’s head back first!"

Saying that, you immediately pulled out your phone and dialed Zong Wangyue’s number, "Zongzi, bring your fastest sports car over!"

Five minutes later, as you hurriedly prepared to head out, Zhao’er followed behind you with the two gaming helmets. frёewebηovel.cѳm

"I’m coming too."

You paused for a moment and nodded.

The trip from Yuhang to the Eastern Sea took about an hour. Normally, you might have felt it passed by in the blink of an eye, but now every minute felt like you were racing against time.

By the time you got home, it was already midnight.

"Mom, how is Panpan?"

Accompanied by Zhao’er, as you stepped into the house, you immediately saw your mother and Xian Qianling sitting on the sofa in the living room.

"Go upstairs and see for yourselves."

You swiftly ran upstairs and entered Lin Panxia’s pink and whimsical princess-themed room. Gone was her usual shout of "Brother Mu Yun!" and the tree kangaroo-like hug she always greeted you with.

This lively little girl was now eerily quiet, lying peacefully on the bed with a black helmet still fixed on her head.

As soon as Zhao’er saw this, she immediately opened one of the boxes in her hand and found the helmet inside looked exactly the same.

"Can we take the helmet off?"

You turned to your mother and asked.

She shook her head. "No, the helmet is connected to Panpan’s soul root."

"Soul root?" Zhao’er was clearly unfamiliar with that term.

Your mother explained, "The soul root is what connects the Three Souls and Seven Spirits to the human body. As a person ages, the soul root gradually withers. When the soul root completely withers, the soul departs from the body. This helmet is no ordinary technological product; it’s peculiar. And there’s another issue. Just now, I was on the phone with Little Yun in Europe. She and Xi Yu also received two helmets. With the two you brought back, there are seven in total."

Xian Qianling said gravely, "Obviously, someone set this up and wants us to take the bait."

Zhao’er pulled out a black paper from one of the helmet boxes. At the bottom of the paper, it read, "I’m waiting for you in the game!"

"Who is this?" Xian Qianling’s eyes flickered with a dangerous glow.

"Whoever it is, they’ve clearly planned this meticulously. It seems I don’t have much of a choice," you sighed lightly. "None of you should use these helmets. I’ll go in first to take a look."

"No."

A voice from outside the window caused the white-haired woman to smile knowingly.

At that moment, a few large words flashed across the computer screen:

Legendary World, the burning passion of youth ignites. Who dares challenge me? With a horizontal blade and a wild laugh, I conquer ten thousand cities and dance freely throughout life.

Gaze upward, under a clear sky where clouds part and cranes soar, echoes of a jade flute resound in the Immortal City.

Who truly understands? The entanglements of love often last the longest, with tender whispers capable of softening steel.

A legendary life proclaims: "Even heroes fall for beauty’s charms!"

A lone smoke rises in the vast desert, where the river flows to a distant sunset.

In the sandstorm-swept wilderness outside the fortress, a thin figure of a man walked alone. Where was he heading? No one knew, perhaps not even himself.

The man wore tattered armor and carried a long knife wrapped in ragged cloth on his back. The relentless sandstorm obscured his face, revealing only his tall figure.

He paused, stopping on a high ground, gazing into the distance.

Gradually, the wind ceased, and the sands stilled. The world fell into a silence so serene, it was like the depths of the night.

"Clack-clack."

A sudden insect’s screech shattered the perfect harmony. Then, an astonishing scene unfolded beneath the man’s feet: massive bugs emerged, swarming across the sand, surging toward him in a tide.

As he raised his head, a black cloud rolled across the vast desert horizon. The cloud flew so low it emitted a buzzing sound, resembling the hum of countless insects.

Closer!

The black cloud plunged downward, engulfing the man. Upon closer inspection, that was no cloud—it was a swarm of gigantic flying insects!

"Clang!"

In the deafening screech of the insects came the clear sound of a weapon being unsheathed, followed by the man’s thunderous roar.

"Raging Moon Wave!"

Light—silvery, radiant, as pure as moonlight and as sharp as a blade’s edge.

A formidable, invisible force erupted outward like relentless tidal waves, crashing in all directions. One wave after another, overwhelming, repelling the swarm of flying insects, leaving the man a space to maneuver freely.

Standing amidst the bodies of the slain insects, half severed or in pieces, with green viscous liquid soaking the dry earth, the man lowered his head, gripping his slanted blade.

Suddenly, a piercing beam of blinding light shot from his blade straight to the heavens. At the same time, the ground trembled violently, as a monstrous insect, the size of six elephants, emerged from the sand.

"Hmph, I’ve been waiting for you."

The man finally lifted his head. Rugged—a plain square face, thick eyebrows, and piercing eyes—a countenance brimming with unyielding determination that no ordinary person could wield.

Dragging his blade step by step toward the giant insect, his strides left deep imprints, and where his blade traced the ground, the mutilated corpses of insects ignited.

Flames—red flames spread rapidly.

The man slowly raised his blade, now glowing with a crimson light. In a split second, in a dazzling flash of fire and lightning, he leaped high, bringing down his fiery blade with overwhelming force onto the monstrous insect. The air itself seemed to split apart, emitting a sharp "zzzz" sound as the blade descended.

The colossal insect had no escape but desperately raised its enormous antennae in defense.

"Boom!"

The earth cracked, and the heavens trembled!

Dust and sand soared like a tornado as the flames spread, threatening to consume everything in their path.

Soon, the black cloud of insects began to dissipate. Some insects plummeted to the ground, others disintegrated in the blistering heat, and the rest were swept away by the powerful wind, ultimately buried beneath the desert sands...

PS: Hi everyone, I’m your ever-righteous Greedy for War.

By now, some of you are probably shouting, "Another damned instance?!"

You’re absolutely right. The next Chapter dives into a brand-new instance, which also happens to be one of my more interesting experiments.

Let me clarify something here.

I Have a Date with a Thousand-year-old Female Corpse was supposed to end in that Chapter where Li Muyun and Zhao’er take their wedding photos. But, seeking some pocket money, I decided to write more (yep, I’m that righteous and shameless to admit it, hahaha).

The missing arcs include the Empress storyline and some scattered scenes toward the end.

However, I’ll save those for last. Whether or not you continue reading, I’m endlessly grateful. After all, we’ve come this far together.

Here’s my solemn promise: I’ll definitely finish this instance!
