Chapter 1460: Chapter 204 The Lowly Monster

"Bang!"

Zheng Qing’s forehead heavily collided with the smooth surface of the mirror, catching him off guard, causing him to sit abruptly on the soft carpet. In the mirror, fairies with bat ears and sharp noses were holding their bellies, laughing crazily, gasping for air as they laughed.

The young wizards of the Absolution Hunting Team looked at each other, unsure of what to say at the moment.

This place is a temporary exhibition hall deep within the Magic History Museum of First University. This exhibition hall contains magic items that are usually placed around the campus.

There are monuments bearing the magical insights of the Big Wizard, bronze bells covered with starlight and runes, variously shaped sculptures, and even two snowmen lying comfortably in a bathtub filled with ice, snoring.

The Nameless floor mirror that Zheng Qing was looking for was also among them.

With Xiao Xiao leading the way, after enduring the irritable ’welcome ritual’ of countless exhibits, the young wizards finally arrived at this exhibition hall and found the mirror.

Pulling off the red drapes temporarily draped over the mirror by the school workers, the nearly two-meter-high mirror surface was revealed once again to everyone. The huge obsidian base, exquisitely carved Roman pillars, frenzied mirror supporters, malevolent devils, and elegant wizards—all these familiar elements matched the images deep in Zheng Qing’s memory, confirming that this was indeed the mirror he was looking for.

The eager young warlock walked straight towards the mirror, aiming to return to the World in the Mirror.

Xiao Xiao hadn’t had the chance to pull him back when he saw the warlock smash headfirst into the sleek mirror surface, falling head over heels. Meanwhile, an unknown group of mirror demons, who hadn’t been there before, squeezed into the blank mirror surface and began to mock the ignorant warlock.

"What’s going on?!"

Zheng Qing, holding his forehead, looked blankly at the mirror, then turned to look at his companions.

"I don’t know." Xiao Xiao flipped through the Law book, summoning a vine to help the fallen warlock up: "... Although I also wanted to prevent you from entering the mirror, I was a bit too slow... by a bit or two."

Xin Fat Man’s chuckling laughter came from nearby.

Xiao Xiao knew what he was laughing at, frowned, and retracted his vine. Because once again, he was a step too slow. His vine had just climbed out of the Law book and was still hanging mid-air when a certain impatient witch in the Hunting Team had already bent down and helped the fallen warlock stand up.

"Thank you." Zheng Qing’s cheeks were slightly warm as he thanked Jiang Yu quietly.

The light was dim, and the expression of the witch was unclear, but he could see her bright eyes.

"You’re too impulsive," Jiang Yu didn’t acknowledge Zheng Qing’s thanks and sounded somewhat angry: "Why didn’t you wait for everyone and rushed towards the mirror by yourself?"

"I was just too anxious," the warlock muttered, somewhat embarrassedly clearing his throat and straightening his robe, then turned his head towards Xiao Xiao, trying to ask in a normal tone: "Doctor, why can’t we enter the mirror? Do you know why?"

Xiao Xiao, with his back to everyone, carefully studied the magic script engraved on the frame of the floor mirror, without answering.

But someone else answered Zheng Qing’s question.

"The mirror was never meant to be a portal that one could just enter and exit at will," Zhang Ji Xin, though fond of solving problems with his fists, sometimes saw things more clearly than Zheng Qing: "For such magic items, there should be spells or special rituals required for their use. Did you pay attention to that when you entered before?"

Zheng Qing’s cheeks, only just cooled from Jiang Yu’s support, heated up again due to the question from the Red-faced Male Wizard. Fortunately, the dim light in the museum hid someone’s blushing face.

"Spell..."

The young sponsor student quickly glanced at the towering floor mirror, then immediately saw the sentence carved on the lintel stone at the top of the mirror: "Light as a sheet of water, reflections flanking the people?"

"Is this a spell?" Zhang Ji Xin leaned towards the mirror, bending his fingers, and knocked on the polished mirror surface.

Dong Dong Dong.

In the mirror, those sharp-mouthed, big-eared fairies bared their teeth and made all sorts of grotesque faces at the burly warlock. Some obscene ones even tore off the hemp cloth tied around their waists, exposing their bizarre parts, and swung them at Zhang Ji Xin.

It was like a bunch of malnourished grapes fluttering in the wind.

Zheng Qing, quick to react, stepped in front of Jiang Yu, harshly cursing: "Disgusting... no wonder they were exiled to the World in the Mirror by the wizards."

The witch paused for a few seconds, then noticing expressions of several other warlocks, she quickly realized what the fairies in the mirror might be doing and couldn’t help but laugh: "Just pretend they’re cats, dogs, or even insects... no need to get angry with them."

Nevertheless, she shifted her gaze away and refused to look at the mirror again.

Zhang Ji Xin snapped his fingers with a fierce tone, shouting at the few fairies in the mirror: "If you dare, don’t run later... Let’s see whose bones are tougher, yours or this young master’s fists!"

His words did not make him more authoritative; instead, they provoked the fairies in the mirror to make even more obscene gestures.

The Red-faced Male Wizard became furiously enraged like a fuming lion, pacing in front of the mirror while repeatedly mumbling the ’spell’ from the lintel stone.

However, regardless of how he parsed the phrases, stressed different words, or even tried different languages like Latin or Hebrew, the mirror showed no reaction.

Zheng Qing wanted to tell him that he himself was unsure if the phrase was truly a spell, but seeing Brother Xin’s angry face, he eventually swallowed his words of advice to avoid trouble.

"Maybe you read it backwards?" After watching for a while, Xin Fat Man finally made a suggestion: "Try reading it in reverse."

Zhang Ji Xin stopped pacing and looked at the lintel stone.

"People flanked by shadows, light as one slice of water?" The Red-faced Male Wizard read it out loud then scratched his head: "What junk is this!"

"There’s no harm in trying," shrugged the Fat Man, appearing clueless.

"There is loss!" Zhang Ji Xin pointed at the mirror surface, his face gloomy.

In the mirror, all the fairies had already ripped off the hemp cloths around their waists and were striking various obscene poses towards the young wizards outside the mirror. They all burst into laughter, seeing the young wizards scratching their ears and cheeks in vexation.

Xin Fat Man observed them with an ’appreciative’ look.

"Not sure if there are any female fairies inside," he said, drawing out his words with an inquisitive tone: "I guess those female fairies’ tricks aren’t much smarter than these male fairies... If they’d do the same as them now, are we at a loss or not?"

This time, it was the fairies in the mirror who were infuriated.

Despite them making various offensive gestures towards the Fat Man outside the mirror, he remained cheerful, not the slightest bit annoyed, instead constantly mocking their repetitive actions.
