Her Rebirth.-Chapter 73
Chapter 73: Chapter 73
Kai stepped out of the room, his thoughts still lingering on his conversation with Song Yue. As he descended the grand staircase of the mansion, a familiar voice stopped him in his tracks.
"Well, well, I never thought you’d actually come back."
Kai turned, his eyes settling on a man leaning casually against the marble pillar. It was his wonderful uncle, Song Ren.
The man’s smile was polite and soft, as if he truly had affection for Kai, but Kai knew that behind that smile was a man who would do anything to end him. Not that he minded indulging his antics once in a while, but still, it was a little annoying, having to deal with hired assassins every so often. But now that Amelia was in his life, that irritation had grown into something closer to rage.
Song Ren was originally the heir apparent to the Song family; that was until he was found five years ago by the old man. Song Ren obviously resented him for snatching his position, however, he could only have himself to blame as he was overly incompetent. In his hands, it was inevitable that the Song family would crumble. And even if he was competent, it was only right someone more competent and stronger took the reins of things, wasn’t it?
Kai’s lips tilted into a mocking smile. "I suppose disappointment must be eating you alive, Uncle."
Song Ren’s expression barely shifted, his smile still in place. "You misunderstand me, nephew. I merely thought you were... too preoccupied elsewhere to remember where your real home is."
Kai stepped closer, lowering his voice to a whisper. "You mean too busy dodging the pathetic assassins you sent after me?"
Song Ren’s smile widened, and then he let out a laugh, clapping Kai on the shoulder as if they were family exchanging pleasantries. "Ah, misunderstandings. You know how politics can be, Kai. You don’t blame me, right?"
Kai didn’t move, his gaze locking onto his uncle’s with amusement. "Yes, I know exactly how they are."
Song Ren tucked his left hand into his pocket, stepping past Kai with an easy smile. "See you around, kiddo."
Kai chuckled as he watched his uncle walk away. Then, a soft voice interrupted his thoughts.
"The young master’s room has been prepared."
A maid stood before him, her head bowed slightly.
Kai cast one last glance at his uncle’s retreating figure before turning away. "I’ll be seeing you, Uncle," he murmured before following the maid to his room.
--
Once inside his room, Kai stripped off his coat, tossing it carelessly onto the chaise before heading toward the bathroom. He stepped into the hot water, feeling the tension in his muscles loosen as he submerged himself. He stayed there for a few minutes, allowing the warmth to seep into his skin before rising and running a hand through his wet hair.
After dressing in only loose black pants, he walked to his desk and flipped open his laptop. The screen flickered to life, and his gaze instantly softened as he saw Amelia.
She was moving around her apartment, her expression mildly exhausted. She was still in a corporate dress, which meant she had just returned from work. He watched as she stretched, placing her hands on her waist, murmuring something to herself.
You should be here, with me.
His fingers hovered over the keyboard, debating whether to send her a message, when a knock came at the door. Before he could respond, the door creaked open.
A woman walked in clad in nothing but a silk dress that clung to her curves, the sheer fabric leaving little to the imagination. She was a maid of the house, however, she was bold enough to do this because, at times, the young master loved to indulge in pleasure depending on his mood.
She walked slowly, swaying her hips with each step. "Master Kai... I thought you might need some company after your long trip," she purred and leaned closer, her perfume filling the room. "It’s been a long time, hasn’t it, Young Master? I can help you relax."
Kai finally glanced at her. Normally, he might have indulged, if only to pass the time. But now, standing here, watching Amelia on the screen, he felt nothing. No desire for the woman before him.
His silence made the maid bolder. She moved closer, fingertips brushing against his bare shoulder. "Let me serve you, Master—"
Kai caught her wrist before she could go any further.
"I’m busy."
The maid’s smile stiffened for a moment, but then she smiled sweetly. "Are you sure? I could—"
His fingers slid to her jaw, gripping hard enough to make her breath hitch. He forced her head back, making her meet his eyes. The maid gasped, her eyes widening in panic.
"Who sent you?" His eyes were cold, his voice dangerous, and his grip tightened slightly, causing her to squirm in pain.
"I-I just wanted to please you," she stammered, but the trembling in her voice betrayed her.
Kai smirked. "My uncle, then."
The moment the words left his mouth, her hands moved to her thigh, pulling a small dagger and swiping it at him.
But before the dagger could even touch him, he caught her hand and snapped it, causing her to howl in pain. Then he grabbed her head, slamming it to the tiled floor.
The dagger skittered across the floor. Before she could even recover, he pressed against her wrist with his feet and reached down, snatching up the dagger. He grabbed a fistful of her hair, yanking her head back, and then neatly slashed her neck open.
A wet gurgle spilled from her lips as she convulsed, onto his skin.
Kai exhaled, rolling his shoulders as he let her lifeless body slump to the floor.
He didn’t even spare her another glance. His focus returned to the laptop, and his eyes softened at the sight of Amelia.
He leaned back in his chair, the blood still warm on his skin, trickling down his fingers.
His hand slid down, his lips parting slightly as he whispered her name.
"Amelia..."
His grip tightened, hunger coiling in his gut. fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm
He couldn’t help but imagine her, imagine that soft, warm mouth of hers on him, imagine her surrendering beneath him, only for him.
