Zhao Qian apologizes to Qi Tian while opening the brocade box in Qi Tian’s hand, taking out the Storage Bag inside. She daubs a bit of Qi Tian’s blood on the bag, and with a flash, the blood disappears into the Storage Bag.
Zhao Qian hands the Storage Bag back to Qi Tian, saying, “Okay, from now on, this Storage Bag belongs only to you. Nobody else could open it.”
“Thank you, Princess.” Qi Tian is a little speechless. He didn’t expect Zhao Qian would validate the ownership of the artifact with blood from his arm. It feels strange for him, like it lacks some sort of ceremonial sense.
Zhao Qian takes out another medicine box. From it, she takes out a black-brown ointment, and carefully applies it to Qi Tian’s arm with her delicate fingers.
This ointment, known as Second-grade Elixir Jade Flesh Ointment, is a holy medicine for healing. Just this small box is worth 3,000 taels of silver.
In order to stop Qi Tian’s bleeding and recover, Zhao Qian used half a box of this valuable ointment directly on him.
Qi Tian’s arm instantly felt cool and the bleeding stopped.
Smelling the light fragrance from Zhao Qian, and feeling her delicate fingers on his skin, Qi Tian is reminded of the time when nurse cared for him in a hospital in his previous life. “Thank you, Princess.”
“You were injured because of me. Stopping your bleeding is only right. Right, here’s half a box of Jade Flesh Ointment remaining, I’ll give it to you. Think of it as compensation for your injury. Don’t refuse, you might need it when you get into a fight later.” Zhao Qian handed the medicine box into Qi Tian’s hand.
Qi Tian took the medicinal box, stepped back a few paces, and bowed to Zhao Qian, “Princess, if there is nothing else for me, I will take my leave.”
Qi Tian’s voluntary retreat surprised Zhao Qian. She had met many young men and seen many talented youths like Qi Tian, but they all used to try their best to get close to her. They flaunted themselves to attract her attention. Qi Tian was the first to actively distance himself.
Interesting!
“Qi Tian, the three treasures I gave you as a reward this time come from the King Zhangbei Manor. I hope you deeply understand the implications of this and serve our country well in the future.” Zhao Qian resumed her lofty Princess demeanor.
“Qi Tian will not forget. Princess, I take my leave.” Qi Tian bowed.
Zhao Qian waved her hand, this time she did not stop him but let Qi Tian take the brocade box, silver notes, gold notes and leave.
A guard stood in the center, saying: “This test has been successfully concluded. Everyone, please leave.”
Another guard approached Zhao Qian and whispered, “Princess, do I need to check Qi Tian’s background?”
Zhao Qian nodded slightly, saying, “Yes, also investigate Liu Haoshuai as well.”
Qi Tian returned to the National Master Manor with the Storage Bag, back to his original room. He packed his things simply and left without hesitation. He arrived at his new room in the Huangque Hall. The outer sect disciple who used to live there had already moved out.
The room was larger than his old one, enough for a half single bed and some more. Qi Tian left his clothes and other belongings, then took off his bloodied clothes which were missing a sleeve, put on somewhat clean clothes, and then left the room, heading directly to the Martial Arts Arena.
Originally, after learning from Liang Xiaolong why he couldn’t perform the Fire Fist, Qi Tian intended to check his Spirit Qi compatibility and then go to the Hundred Spirit Hall to find some information. But Princess Zhao Qian suddenly held a public test. He figured out why he couldn’t perform the Fire Fist. He now urgently needs to verify whether this is the real reason.
The guard in charge of the Cultivation Room was the inner senior who let him offset his rent with elixirs. The senior was a little surprised to see Qi Tian again. “You’re back? Did you borrow some silver? You want your elixirs back? I’m telling you, that’s impossible.”
Qi Tian smiled and said, “Senior, don’t misunderstand. I just want to rent the superior single Cultivation Room again. Is there any available? If so, I would like to rent it for another half day.”
The inner sect disciple shook his head and said, “After you gave up the superior single Cultivation Room, it was immediately rented out by someone else. Now, if you want to rent a Cultivation Room, you can only rent the standard one. Will you rent it? If so, I can handle the procedures for you.”
There was no superior single Cultivation Room available, and Qi Tian was somewhat disappointed. But there was no other way. There were only two superior single Cultivation Rooms for the outer sect disciples. Once they were occupied, no matter how much money the other outer sect disciples offered, they couldn’t rent them. He can only take out his Disciple Card and rent a standard one.
With the control token for the standard Cultivation Room and a half stick of Pure Heart Incense given by the inner sect disciple, Qi Tian entered the room.
He was incredibly pressed for time on this occasion. He had to assist Liang Xiaolong with a task the next day at eight in the morning, and he hoped that this short period of closed-door cultivation would have favorable results.
After lighting the Pure Heart Incense, Qi Tian inserted it into the incense burner and opened his Storage Bag. He then removed a brocade box containing spirit stones. As soon as he placed the box on the ground, a whirlwind shot out from his right hand toward the box.
Startled by this, Qi Tian quickly clenched his hand into a fist, simultaneously kicking the brocade box away.
The whirlwind failed to capture the box and reluctantly dissipated.
Qi Tian spread out his right hand to look at the Heavenly Dao Engine in his palm, saying, “Please, don’t compete with me for it. I need it for my cultivation. Once I get stronger, I can kill more enemies and feed you better stuff, OK?”
The Heavenly Dao Engine didn’t make any sound, so Qi Tian assumed that it had agreed to his proposition. He walked over to the brocade box, cautiously picking it up.
Throughout the process, he was extremely careful to prevent the Heavenly Dao Engine from releasing another whirlwind and snatching the spirit stones from him.
Luckily, what he feared the most didn’t happen, as the Heavenly Dao Engine was unusually silent this time.
Qi Tian opened the brocade box and took out a fiery red spirit stone. Holding it in his left hand, he then activated the “Black Jade Skills,” beginning to draw fire attribute Spirit Qi from the Fire Spirit Stone.
Spirit stones, being the condensed form of a certain type of Spirit Qi, were small but packed with an immense amount of attribute Spirit Qi. Unlike the environment in a Spirit Instrument where fire attribute Spirit Qi freely crisscrossed, the Spirit Qi in the spirit stones was highly compressed and condensed together. It was difficult to extract or release all of the Spirit Qi in one go unless special methods were used.
Qi Tian had a serious suspicion that if all the Spirit Qi in this Fire Spirit Stone were to be unleashed, it could incinerate him instantly.
Perhaps it was better to have the spirit stone in its current state so he could extract the Spirit Qi gradually as per his actual needs.
Qi Tian could feel the Spirit Qi inside the Fire Spirit Stone. He didn’t have Divine Sense now and could only vaguely sense the entanglement of fire attribute Spirit Qi in the stone due to his high affinity with it.
Qi Tian felt like he was trying to spearfish in a river with murky water, not being able to see where the fish were at all. It took him over an hour of attempts to roughly figure out a thread of fire attribute Spirit Qi amongst the collated mess. He slowly skimmed, spent, and extracted it from the tangled mess with patience much greater than that needed for embroidery. He guided the thread of fire attribute Spirit Qi into his meridians through his palm’s acupuncture point.
After circulating the thread of fire attribute Spirit Qi through all of his opened meridians, it nestled itself in Qi Tian’s heart.
Qi Tian didn’t attempt to extract a second thread of fire attribute Spirit Qi. He stood up, positioned himself in front of the iron wall, took a deep breath, and activated his True Essence to unleash an Eight Desolate Demon Tiger Fist.
His fist landed a deep imprint on the iron wall but, to his disappointment, it didn’t become a Fire Fist.
Not giving up, Qi Tian tried again and again. The iron wall became increasingly marked with his imprints but still, not a single Fire Fist was produced.
What was going on?
Qi Tian unconsciously threw another punch. The whoosh of his fist was wreathed in blazing flames as it landed heavily on the iron wall.
In addition to leaving a deep fist imprint on the iron wall, it also left a burn mark around the imprint, demonstrating a significant increase in power in comparison to a mere punch.
Something clicked in Qi Tian’s mind. He started extracting fire attribute Spirit Qi from the Fire Spirit Stone again, this time spending three hours extracting and refining three threads of fire attribute Spirit Qi inside his heart. He then stood in front of the iron wall, continuously throwing punches, attempting to find a subtle sensation that would allow him to produce a Fire Fist.
After twelve hours of relentless practice without food, water, or sleep, Qi Tian vaguely understood the knack of using the Fire Fist.
At this point, he could throw a Fire Fist every ten punches or so.
Compared to his previous inability to produce a Fire Fist, this was undoubtedly a tremendous advancement. But compared to Liu Haoshuai, who could perform a Fire Fist without a second thought, Qi Tian’s achievement was somewhat lackluster.
The Pure Heart Incense had burned out, and Qi Tian left his cultivation room. It was now the early morning hours, and that same inner sect disciple was still manning his post. Although this disciple’s job seemed hard—working day in and day out with no weekends or holidays—it was stable and lasted for a long time. Compared to many of the inner sect disciples who had to constantly undertake tasks, venture outdoors for training, and risk their lives to earn money and cultivate resources, this disciple’s job was considered far more superior. He had also paid a substantial price to secure this job.
Qi Tian completed the handover with the inner sect disciple. This time, he had enough silver notes and didn’t have to worry about being ripped off by this senior.
