Healing System-Chapter 299: Angel and Evangelist?
The two went ahead, walking up to the main city, and eventually, flying out of it.
Chances were, she was leading him to an ambush.
But if she wasn't, then he was about to get much, much stronger.
Or so Michael would love to think—but as they passed through several ruins of the former cities, they soon arrived in some sort of graveyard.
She's not going to hit me with the casual, 'this is your grave' line, is she? Michael thought warily.
Nonetheless, that was not what happened at all, as she soon approached a particular tombstone with the name Rachel written on it.
"She was my sister," Lila said. "We fought the demons together, but she sadly died right as I was about to get promoted."
"I see... I'm sorry to hear that," Michael replied. "It must've been hard staying on the same world with these kinds of memories lingering around."
"It was." Lila nodded. "But it's fine—I got over it a while ago."
"So why are you showing me this grave then?" Michael asked skeptically.
"I just wanted to show you what happens to people who are reckless," Lila replied with a sigh. "Rachel was someone who was strong, but she grew overconfident. Eventually, she charged straight into the nest of demons and was killed. Only after several years was I able to identify her bones."
"That's disturbing," Michael remarked with a frown. "Did she not have any backup at all?"
"Nothing. She went in, got herself killed, and left me alone," Lila replied with a chuckle. "It's a bit funny. I expected her to climb the ranks with me, but then again... nothing lasts forever."
Michael remained silent, as he didn't know how to comfort her in this sort of situation.
She was sad, but she claimed she wasn't.
If he were to call her out on it, then she'd snap.
So complicated, Michael thought.
[Why not just suggest training. Else she'll just keep sulking until she finishes her entire life story,] the system suggested.
Michael nodded, as he walked up beside Lila and stared straight into her red eyes.
"Tell me, if you could go back and save her, would you?" Michael asked.
He could only assume she became affiliated with the demons after her sister died... or perhaps even before that.
But with this question, he could at least gauge her intentions.
"I wouldn't..." Lila muttered. "It's impossible to bring back the dead, so thinking about it only gives me false hope."
Hmm... Michael raised a brow.
It was definitely not impossible, as he had revived his mother—but that was a special occasion.
"I see. I'm glad you showed me this. Shall we get to training then?" Michael asked, snapping her out of her sulking.
"That's right... I need to give you a rundown, or else you'll make the same mistakes as her," Lila said in a resolute tone. "First thing's first, let's get out of here."
With that, she shot up into the sky, and Michael followed after her.
She changed directions, heading toward a place near the city they were in, until finally, they landed in some open field.
There were a couple of people stationed—and to his surprise, they were all angels.
However, their strength wasn't that great—some merely Tier 1.
"What's this place?" Michael asked, amused. "Some breeding chamber?"
"Ew, no," Lila replied as a shiver ran down her spine. "It's just a training ground for failed angels."
Michael raised a brow. "Am I a failed angel?"
"Not yet." Lila giggled. "I'll only be able to tell after we do some simple exercises."
She turned toward him, her gaze fierce.
"Attack me with the intention to kill. If you even get a hit in, it's my loss."
"Sure," Michael agreed immediately.
His plan right off the bat was to find out how to kill her—and if she was simply offering it as a training bonus, then all the better.
He could test what worked, what her weaknesses were—until eventually, he would be ready to kill her.
But by his estimates, he needed to reach at least Tier 6 to stand a chance against her, which seemed to be a bit out of his reach in his current circumstances.
Nonetheless, Michael didn't hesitate to bring his arm down.
After all, it had become a habit to form golden swords and chuck them into the sky for future fights.
Therefore, hundreds of thousands of swords suddenly appeared in the sky, startling Lila slightly.
"You are well prepared," she remarked with a sour look.
"That I am," Michael replied confidently, before bringing his other arm down.
The moment he did, the speed at which the swords were traveling downwards increased by several times.
It was to the point where the nearby angels began scattering with fearful expressions on their faces.
And finally, his swords were right in front of Lila.

To his surprise, she merely created a protective barrier, which acted as a repellent for his swords.
But that wasn't enough to completely block them, as Michael mixed in some Piercing Light skills, as well as the Mirage of Light copies.
It made sure his attacks were unique, and she couldn't accurately tell them apart because of how many there were.
Her barrier broke, and his swords finally made contact with her body.
Unfortunately, they didn't manage to pierce her at all.
She was basically as sturdy as the barrier itself.
"Is that all you've got?" Lila asked, amused.
His brows twitched. "Give me a moment."
Suddenly, he raised his hand upward and decided to use one of his trump card skills—
Heavenly Judgement.
However, what was better than one Heavenly Judgement?
Three Heavenly Judgements.
Soon, three massive swords formed in the sky, growing constantly.
Lila flinched for the first time since he saw her, as she suddenly reached into the air and pulled out a sickle.
It was small, but he could practically feel the power oozing out of it.
His Heavenly Judgements soon began falling, the air cracking in their wake.
However, Lila didn't fail to surprise him.
She suddenly threw the sickle in the air, and it made contact with one of the massive swords.
It was dispersed in an instant.
But...
"Pfft..." Michael held back a laugh, watching as all the excess energy from the destroyed Heavenly Judgement fueled the remaining two swords.
"That's a very dangerous attack... Can you stop it?" Lila asked, her brows furrowed.
"Stop it? Nope," Michael replied flatly. "I can, however, suggest we run away."
"No... I'm not running away," Lila said with a sigh. "There are some good resources in this area, and if I let it be nuked, then it would be shameful."
"But can you survive that attack? I mean, I didn't hold back at all," Michael stated.
"Watch this," Lila said confidently, before shooting up into the air.
Immediately, she appeared in front of one of the swords before grabbing its massive hilt.
Suddenly, she twisted it around before flinging it off in the distance.
The excess energy it left in its wake fueled the last Heavenly Judgement, making it change color.
It turned completely white and was now heading down at an incredibly fast speed.
However, Lila didn't back down, as she attempted to grab the hilt.
But it didn't do anything, as she couldn't even make the sword budge.
He could practically hear her gulp from all the way over in the sky, as she flashed him a small glare.
"What? I told you it's pointless," Michael said. "But hey, running is not off the table—"
His words were cut off when, all of a sudden, the entire Heavenly Judgement attack dissipated.
And following that...
—BOOOOOOM
A loud explosion thundered in the distance, coming from the Heavenly Judgement Lila had redirected.
It was nowhere near a city, so it was fine.
Probably.
But that was not what had truly caught his attention.
Instead, it was her blackened-out arm, which soon faded into her normal shade.
So she's an Evangelist, Michael thought with narrowed eyes, as Lila floated down, her confident look from earlier still present.
"See? I told you I can do it."
"That you did, I see... So now what? Are you going to start teaching me?" Michael asked, while also pondering what he had just seen.
He didn't think it was possible to be an Angel and an Evangelist at the same time, as to become one, they had to accept a demonic contract—and have a demon practically dwelling in their bodies.
In that same manner, using Light magic would naturally taint the surroundings.
But now that Michael thought about it, he didn't feel a single ounce of mana come from her—which either meant she was only using it to enhance herself, or...
[She's hiding it,] the system remarked. [I thought it was a possibility, but the way she dispelled that attack was the deciding factor. She's both an Angel and an Evangelist.]
Yeah? Good morning to you too. Michael rolled his eyes, as he glanced back at Lila, whose smile was growing wider.
"What we will be doing?" she said, trailing off as a bit of giggles resounded.
"We will be..."
