GREED: ALL FOR WHAT?-Chapter 2062: Levi The Great Inventor.
If there is one thing Legion knows for certain, it is that everyone is selfish. That is unless they are stupid. So he doesn't believe that the god of steam is the savior of mankind.
But he didn't make his doubts known to the high priest. He just listened to the man brag about the Church of Steam for a while.
Then the high priest got to the point, "I see that you are talented with machines. It has to be that, or the god of steam wouldn't have paid attention to your patent so quickly."
"I advise you to take advantage of this talent by becoming a machinist. If you do, you might invent something that will help you ascend the ranks as soon as possible."
Legion knew that this was the main reason why the high priest was bragging about his church. He also suspects that it was the god of steam that put him up to this.

So he didn't tell the high priest to shut up and mind his business. Instead, he became solemn and quiet as if he was considering the proposition.
Eventually, he said, "I am tempted by the opportunity to become a machinist. But I already have my eyes set on another pathway. However, I will rethink my decision if my patent works out."
"If my patent becomes popular and widely accepted, it will prove that I have a future in machinery. If it doesn't, then I will just stick to my current decision."
The high priest smiled and said, "Good. I hope to see how your patent will perform."
He truly wants to see what is so special about the patent. But even though he is ignorant of what Legion has invented, he is certain that it will be of great impact to humanity, or the god of steam wouldn't have been riled up by it so much.
He said, "I am Antonio. May I ask what your name is?"
Legion said, "I am Levi."
"Good to meet you, Levi. I hope you will see the light and change to the right path once the performance of your patent is made known."
Legion smiled and said, "I hope so too."
Then they bid farewell to each other and went their way.
Legion was in a good mood on his way home. He had submitted the patent and didn't need to sacrifice any money before it was approved.
He also managed to advertise the patent with the best method of advertisement in the current human civilization. So he couldn't help but feel good.
He said to himself, "If everything works well. I will become a godclad soon."
All that is left for him is to return to that church once in a while to see if there is any letter for him. He has to return there because they are the only ones who have a telegraph in the whole town.
Any letter that will be sent to him has to be sent either through a telegraph or through other altars of other temples. Seeing as only the Church of Steam knows him, then it is safe to say that letters addressed to the inventor of alternative current will have to come through the Church of Steam.
Those letters should have offers of business cooperations. It is because even though his patent will be made public, it is nearly impossible for people to be able to put the technology into action.
It is because the patent will not mention the underlying principle or show the schematics of his inventions. The patent will only briefly speak about his inventions and what they are capable of.
So even if anyone wants to get his permission to use his technology, they won't know how to use his technology and will have to ask for his assistance.
It is either that or they wait for someone to put his technology into action, buy what he invented, and study it to gain knowledge of the technology. But by then, someone would already be selling his inventions and making money from them.
So it is a matter of first come, first served. He made sure of that by not allowing the church to show the paper on electromagnetic induction he wrote in the patent and the schematics he drew in their advertisements.
Even if someone somehow bypasses this stage and learns his technology, they will still have to ask for his permission to use his technology and will have to pay him 10% of the revenue from the sales of his product.
So he was in a good mood. As for the opportunity to become a machinist, he didn't count that as an achievement at all.
Even if he didn't have his eyes set on the undying pathway, he still wouldn't pick the machinist pathway because it has a god, it has two gods, and because growing stronger in the pathway depends on gods.
Just one of those reasons is a discouragement to him. The combination of those three reasons makes the machinist pathway intolerable.
Anyone in the machinist pathway who wants to grow stronger must receive boons from the gods in the pathway. These boons are dependent on the performance of the inventions and equipment that the godclad in the pathway builds.
This didn't use to be so before the appearance of a god in the pathway. Before the god of steam arrived, the machinist grew stronger based on the feedback from the world and their divine flesh.
The more machines they built and the more types of machines they invented, the faster they would grow stronger. They didn't need the opinion of another person to determine their growth.
But that has changed now with the appearance of a god. On a normal day, there won't be a problem with this arrangement.
But if a machinist offends a god or does something that displeases them, they won't receive the acknowledgment from the god, so they won't receive boons, and they won't grow stronger.
