Galaxy Domination Guide-Chapter 699 - 685 The Opening of the Cataclysm Era (Part 9)
The Galaxy was segmented into dozens of closed regions, each large and small, a tragedy and apocalypse for many civilizations, yet also a significant opportunity for many others.
As the first catastrophe, the AI-star Civilization, a machine AI civilization, continued to occupy some planets with high-level civilization technology and massively produced its military forces through Atomic Substance Construction Technology.
The Swarm Empress, who had slept for who knows how many years within a gas planet, embarked on an unprecedented path of expansion for the Swarm. Within its enclosed region, the Swarm continuously occupied hundreds of planets. The terrifying Swarm eggs spread throughout space had no civilization with a means to respond.
Civilizations that were originally unrelated, due to changes in astronomical geography, became neighbors. Whether to optimize their defensive postures or out of interest, these civilizations waged wars against each other. Even the ten giants, who had long been a benchmark for the Galaxy's leadership, began to battle each other.
Having failed in the great battle of 170,000 warships, Su Shuang was stripped of his military rank; however, in such dire times, this former fifth Divine General was reemployed by the Seven Phoenixes Civilization, although he was not sent to the front lines. The Seven Phoenixes Civilization did not formally wage war against other giants but were instead on alert.
Su Shuang, now commanding merely a hundred or so warships, wasn't nearly as imposing as in his prime, but he now headed for his flagship, which had been modified from two Divine Mechs.
As Su Shuang was methodically handling military affairs, he received a communication.
"Long time no see, my fifth Divine General," the video showed Suo Kexiao, another Divine General who had retreated with him from the great battle at Devouring Star.
Su Shuang, his handsome face carrying a hint of puzzlement, responded without pleasantries, "Suo Kexiao, aren't you serving as the main commander for the Borke in the war against the Jinxi Civilization? How do you have time to seek me out?"
Suo Kexiao, looking unconcerned, said, "Well, I'm here to let you know that I've just switched sides; I no longer belong to the Borke Civilization."
Su Shuang was even more surprised. In interstellar civilizations, due to significant differences in race, culture, and stages of development, such easy switching of allegiances was very rare, leading him to inquire, "Did you perhaps defect to the Jinxi people?"
Suo Kexiao waved his hand, laughing, "How could I? Why would those folks be worth betraying the Borke for? Well, let me clarify. Just now, the Borke Fleet engaged in a major battle with the Jinxi Fleet, but the battle was forcibly halted because the traditionally low-profile Fallen Empire appeared."
Su Shuang's eyes widened, shaking his head incessantly, "Impossible! Even the Fallen Empire couldn't possibly have the capability to stop a conflict between two level 30 civilization fleets."
For a long time, the Galactic High Governance Council's ten giants had little regard for the Fallen Empire, which claimed to be the Galactic Observers. The Fallen Empire was an ancient civilization that had survived the second dark age of civilization to this day. They had lost their ambition as well as the drive to evolve and develop, generally shrinking within their own territory and avoiding any contact with the outside world.
The Galactic Council had attempted multiple times to recruit the Fallen Empire to join the council, but they never even met anyone from there, nor could they enter their territory, as any spacecraft that mistakenly entered their territory would be chased away. Even in such instances, the people of the Fallen Empire would not engage in normal interactions with others.
Thus, the Galactic High Governance Council gradually stopped considering the potentially very powerful Fallen Empire major players. They did not occupy extensive territories, nor did they contact the outside world or plunder other civilizations' resources and populations. The ten giants and other high-level civilizations considered the Fallen Empire a blot on the map, better left alone.

While there were concerns that these well-behaved entities of the Fallen Empire might suddenly emerge and confront other civilizations, many Galactic fantasies in literature used this as material. People didn't even know what race they were, what kind of technology they possessed, all of which left much to the imagination.
However, just as the people of Earth had once fantasized about extraterrestrials without ever seeing one, the ordinary civilizations of the Galaxy fantasized about the Fallen Empire without truly understanding what it was.
That was until the Fallen Empire appeared before them.
Suo Kexiao shrugged helplessly, "You can see for yourself, the Jinxi and Borke civilizations' fleets were destroyed by eighty percent, and I was directly captured. Actually, the Fallen Empire shouldn't be called a fallen empire at all, but rather the Galactic Empire!"
Su Shuang's eyelids twitched as he hastily asked, "What do you mean?"
Suo Kexiao said, "The ten giants, the Galactic High Governance Council, they're all just laughable clowns. We were like a bunch of monkeys leaping around in someone else's yard because the owner was napping. Now that the owner has awakened, the monkeys have realized they're not tigers."
Su Shuang couldn't comprehend why Suo Kexiao had undergone such a drastic change, Suo Kexiao's words overturning his normal understanding and causing his heart to tremble.
"Alright, I have much to learn. Long story short. Su Shuang the Divine General, you are one of the few Divine Generals I truly consider capable. The Galactic Empire is about to reemerge, and the true ruler of the Galaxy, the Galactic Emperor, has sensed a serious cosmic disaster forming within the Galaxy. If left unchecked, this disaster could doom the entire Galaxy. Therefore, Emperor His Majesty has decided to unify the various civilizations within the Galaxy to collectively combat these calamities."
Su Shuang frowned, asking, "Is this cosmic disaster the Galactic Emperor wants to address the merging of the galaxies?"
Suo Kexiao denied, "No, the galaxy merging is actually a good thing for the Galaxy, as we have entered a new universe, one that is younger and more vibrant with wider prospects for the future. The disasters I refer to are the four cosmic catastrophes."
In the Galaxy, there are labels for eight major cosmic catastrophes, the latter four being supernova explosions, super-ray storms, spatial rifts, and rogue black hole clusters—these are essentially natural and objective-type disasters. The earlier four, namely the AI revolution, the Swarm, the Void Demons, and the unclearly described fourth disaster, are more subjective and historically evolving in nature. The reference to the four cosmic catastrophes usually pertains to these first four.
Su Shuang thoughtfully said, "The strategy office had earlier received a report from the Solitary Civilization, claiming the Devouring Swarm has returned to the Galaxy, apparently under the name of the Iridium Star United Empire, a high-level civilization from a different universe. And recently, there have been unconfirmed reports that the Swarm is still wreaking havoc elsewhere, having already wiped out a swath of civilizations and planets. Could it be this Iridium Star United Empire preparing to conquer the entire Galaxy?"
