Chapter 1284: Chapter 694: The Net Over the Skies of Rocklands_3

The seeds of disaster were sown a thousand years ago. Hidden here are countless followers of the Great Helendadim. They recruit elite troops for him, control more servant races, and with just one command, they can amass a goblin army numbering over hundreds of thousands at his disposal.

Reclaiming the Rocklands and governing the Goblin Margins is, in essence, a process of clipping his wings.

I have reason to believe that as this matter progresses, he will definitely not sit idly by. It is highly probable that he will deploy his main forces from the Tesser Yama Mine to lead the goblins in a full-scale counteroffensive.

And this presents an excellent opportunity to weaken his power, laying the groundwork for an all-out assault on the Tesser Yama Mine later.

With such preconditions, do you still think I would go back on my word?"

The intelligence Gaven shared wasn’t a one-sided perspective—it was a fusion of multiple aspects.

Both from his past life and the present.

Compared to his past experiences, his feelings in this life were far more profound.

The stronger the forces Gaven developed in the Rocklands, the more he felt an unseen and massive web blanketing the area. Initially, he thought this web was woven by the Santarin Association, but he gradually realized it wasn’t.

Because the influence of this faction among goblin-class creatures far exceeded that over other monsters.

For a long time, Gaven considered the presence of Dog Demons among the goblins in the Spirit Crystal Mine, inciting them to scheme against the Blackwell Gnolls, as a mere coincidence.

Later, he slowly discovered that this was far from the case. It wasn’t that Dog Demon Andrew was withholding something from him, but the sheer number of Dog Demons within the goblin races spread across the Rocklands and the Enorok Great Desert was astonishing.

Andrew had once believed he was acting out of his own will when he escaped from the Tesser Yama Mine, that great demon cave. But how could he be so sure that his escape wasn’t tacitly approved by the upper echelons of Tesser Yama?

That mine, a lair operated by a millennia-old Great Lich—if he didn’t want it to happen, could a mere Dog Demon just casually escape? After the escape, how could the mine have no reaction at all?

This was but one indirect piece of evidence.

The second was that the Komeer Kingdom had suffered two large-scale goblin invasions in succession.

One occurred four years ago (1355), where large numbers of goblins and orcs emerged from the Rocklands, capturing Arabey City.

In that battle, Lord Milra lost her left arm. Despite strong magical forces used to aid regeneration, the Regeneration Technique failed to restore her limb, and to this day, she still wears a metallic prosthetic arm.

The invaders ravaged the area for three months, until Duke Belru led the Purple Dragon Army northward to reclaim it. The following year, they annexed Tivantum City.

The other incident occurred in the future (1371), known as the Dragon Cataclysm, which nearly fractured the Komeer Kingdom into four parts.

The reason for the immense scale of that attack was not only because of the strength of the draconic overlord Narrawatreil but also due to the terrifying army he commanded. Reportedly numbering in the hundreds of thousands, it was composed of orcs and goblins and was said to have originated from the Rocklands.

Gaven, now the person most knowledgeable about the Rocklands, had the most authority to speak on the matter. Based on the resources of the Rocklands alone, they couldn’t possibly sustain such a vast number of orcs and goblins.

The Dragon Oak Territory is considered one of the more prosperous regions in the Rocklands. Although the terrain is rugged, being mostly highland and hilly, it at least consists largely of earthen hills, with grass, trees, and arable soil for growing crops.

But the farther north and west one goes, the more barren it becomes—nothing but bare granite landscapes. Even Gaven found himself helpless in these areas, let alone the non-productive orcs and goblins. Such barren lands made up one-third of the Rocklands.

The Rocklands’ reputation as a barren chicken rib was not without cause, and it wouldn’t change simply because of Gaven’s arrival.

To muster a monster army of over 100,000, one would at least have to unite all monster forces from the Rocklands, the Goblin Margins, the Enorok Great Desert, the Mokou Mountain Range, the Stormhorn Mountains, and the Thunder Peak Mountain Range.

Gaven had originally blamed all this on the Santarin Association, as they seemed to be the only truly capable force in the area.

But one thing didn’t add up: the Dark Intelligence Network hadn’t gained much from these two events, especially the Dragon Cataclysm of 1371.

That year, the internal struggles within the Santarin Association had escalated to an extreme. The Mad God Shylock faced judgment from a divine court composed of strong divine powers due to his madness, with some of his divine positions forcibly stripped away, leading to a sharp decline in his strength. This allowed followers of the Tyrant God Bane to rise up and seize power once again.

In comparison, everything being driven from behind the scenes by the monsters of the Tesser Yama Mine made much more sense.

Gaven had reason to believe that if it weren’t for the unintended intervention of robbing the Santarin Association’s goods, forcing the development of the Rocklands to hit pause, he would have long since clashed with the subordinate Monster Tribes of the Tesser Yama Mine.

"This is just your personal conjecture. Do you have any evidence to prove it?" Bolin showed the unyielding nature typical of dwarves, unwilling to change his view over a mere hypothesis.

Gaven spread his hands and said, "I don’t. Such behind-the-scenes manipulations are the hardest to substantiate with solid evidence. One can only hypothesize boldly and verify carefully. Whether it’s true or not will soon become clear as my development in the Rocklands proceeds in earnest. They won’t just stand by and watch me unite the entire Rocklands."

"But..."

Giharin waved his hand, interrupting the still-arguing Bolin, and said, "The more friends we have, the stronger we’ll be. Especially when we are possibly facing the same enemy. Why don’t we first listen to what General Gaven has to say about the proposed alliance?"

"Understood." Bolin could only step back and agree.

"An alliance doesn’t necessarily mean starting with a military alliance. We can begin with a commercial one, looking for cooperation points that benefit both sides.

For instance, I possess iron mines in the Rocklands that you don’t have, while you have forging techniques that I lack.

Another example is that you can forge the finest Fine Gold Alloy Equipment, while I have the Fine Gold Art.

Once my assumptions are further confirmed, we can advance towards a deeper alliance without haste."

From the start, Gaven had no intention of annexing the Iron Clan.

Such an ancient dwarven clan was not so easy to absorb. If the Komeer Kingdom could have done it, they would have long ago. It wouldn’t be waiting until now, let alone for Gaven.

Mutual benefit and taking what’s needed from each other—that was the true way forward.
