Chapter 56: Chapter 56: You wanted to eat me

"This is good. Does that brat know?" Old master Shentu wondered if Shentu Jing brought her back as his sleeping medicine.

"From what I saw and heard, no, he didn’t know. They don’t sleep in the same room.. Sometimes, Miss Qin stays with her friend,"

"Male or female?" Even Old Master Shentu wanted to know the gender of her friends.

"A female,"

"Ah, that’s good," Old Master Shentu suddenly had a naughty idea.

Shentu Jing brought her up to his room, grabbed a blanket and laid it over her, adjusted the temperature of the room, then lay down beside her.

He kissed her gently on the forehead.

"Goodnight, my Little Pearl,"

Qin Zhuzhu woke up the next morning. The blanket wrapped around her feels particularly warm. She blinked her eyes opened and looked up.

Hmm..... Where was she? The ceiling looks unfamiliar.

Then she looked around and was surprised to find herself sleeping in an unfamiliar bed, or more precisely, Shentu Jing’s arms!

Oh my god!

She scrambled up but ended up getting her foot caught in the bedding, and tumbling down the bed.

"Ah!" She cried.

She.... Stinky Jing....in bed. Damn it, what the hell happened last night? She knew that she was drunk but how could she do it?! It was hard not to misunderstand what she was seeing!

"What are you thinking?" Shentu Jing’s peach blossom eyes flew open lazily and gaze at her.

That gaze sent her heart slamming back into her chest. Ba-dum! Ba-dum! Why did she feel that he was particularly attractive today?

"I was thinking if we did.... I mean... If I had done something with you..... That would be the end of me..."

"If we really did something last night, do you think you’ll still have the energy to jump around today and imagine ridiculous things?" Shentu Jing looked like a viper who was ready to strike his enemy.

"Oh," Qin Zhuzhu stared at him like a dumb bunny, before she blinked a few times.

Maybe she was thinking too much, but after that day he slept in her arms, Qin Zhuzhu felt that he was different. The air surrounding him seemed to be sweet and gentle. Or maybe it wasn’t that he had changed, but she didn’t know the real him.

Qin Zhuzhu noticed nail marks on his wrists and hands. There were some scratches and dried blood which reminded her of that time she scratched his cheek.

"Stinky Jing, what happened to your hand?" She asked even though she already had an idea of what happened.

Shentu Jing looked at the delicate little marks and then turned back to her with a smile. "What do you think?"

His words sounded ambiguous.

"Well.... Well.... I think I must have attacked you last night like an animal,"

"Good eye. You were worse than a beast," he seemed to be praising her sarcastically.

"What do you mean?" She swallowed a little.

"What do you think?" He said with a twinkle in his eyes. "Last night, you were so strong and you pinned me to the bed. You even said you wanted to eat me,"

"Really?! Did I do anything to you?" Qin Zhuzhu leaned closer, looking fearful.

"Didn’t I say nothing happened between us?" Shentu Jing propped an elbow up and rested his chin on it.

Oh, right. Nothing happened between them. She was relieved.

"But then again, what happened last night? Everything’s blurred and in pieces. I remembered going to the nightclub with Sanya and then....." She tried hard to think of it but she felt a sharp pain. She must have drank too much!

"You were fighting with people at the club. Luckily I happened to pass by so I took you home. Then you hugged my grandpa’s legs and said you wanted to worship his thighs," Shentu Jing emphasized on the word ’his thighs’.

Waves of embarrassment washed over Qin Zhuzhu. His grandfather must have been really mad at her and him.

"I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean to. I’ve caused you so much trouble!" Qin Zhuzhu apologized.

Since she was drunk when she saw his grandfather, then the old man must have known that the relationship between them was fake! This was really one problem after another.

"Why did you get so dead drunk last night?" Shentu Jing ignored her apology and asked her.

At once, Qin Zhuzhu’s face saddened.

Seeing how her face changed, the volcano in Shentu Jing’s heart started to erupt.

She wasn’t used to sharing her troubles with someone who wasn’t her friend. In fact, she didn’t know if he was considered a friend or what. Sanya wasn’t here to accompany and all of sudden she felt lonely and vulnerable.

"I didn’t get hired. All of my job applications were rejected because the Xu family won’t allow me....." She murmured sadly, looking like she had lost her soul.

Shentu Jing was surprised. freeweɓnovel.cøm

"What?"

"I know it’s a small job and won’t bring much income. But I wanted to be independent. I thought you wouldn’t want me as your fake fiancée after what happened that day. I wanted to give my mother a better life," Qin Zhuzhu turned away from him to hide her face.

Shentu Jing’s eyes brightened after that gloom he felt last night. However his heart felt like it was squeezing on itself when he saw her sad face.

She was not sad about Xu Meng but was sad because the Xu family suppressed all her job applications?

All this time, Shentu Jing thought that she had gotten so drunk because of Xu Meng, he never thought that this was the real reason.

He got off the bed and sat next to her. Qin Zhuzhu thought of all the sufferings and miseries she and her mother went through after they were kicked out of the Qin family.

They lost everything and were forced to live like hobos. They were scorned and humiliated yet Qin Zhuzhu put on a tough front. She couldn’t collapse just yet. Her mother’s health was weakening and getting worse. Even though her mother didn’t tell her, Qin Zhuzhu still noticed that she was getting paler and paler.

Her thoughts chased each after all over her mind. A strong hand gently pressed her head against a muscular chest and she sank into it.

Damn it.... What the hell.....

It was only when her thoughts and mind calmed down did she realise that she had cried in Shentu Jing’s arms for almost an hour!
