"First a civil war and now a potential world war? The fuck is going on in this world?" Rudy asked with an annoyed look on his face.

He was feeling angry for some reason. It wasn't for them to start a war. How could they? What power did they have? What right did they have? Who made them the god?

The thoughts wouldn't leave Rudy's mind.

"You wouldn't understand it, Rudy," Eric uttered in a somber tone. "You have no idea how the world works."

Ignoring Eric's comment, Rudy asked, "Why does war happen?"

Without wasting a single second, Eric immediately responded, "Whenever there is an imbalance in the world, war happens."

"What is that balance? And who gets to decide what the balance is?"

"No one can decide the balance. It's more of a cumulative basis thingy. Economy is imbalanced too much, war happens. The other nation develops a revolutionary discovery or invention, it triggers war. It has been like that since the beginning of time. War happens when someone wants something from others and they can have it otherwise."

Eric tried his best to explain, but when he glanced at Rudy's face, he realized that it didn't work.

"So according to you, the weak ones start a war against a strong one to…. become stronger? Isn't that usually the opposite? Either way, why would a war happen if the people of the nations don't want it? Do they not have a say in that?

They literally make the nation, and if their opinions are discarded… the leader needs to be changed. Of course, if a country has a bad ruler, the other nations should step in and protect the citizens, but who gets to decide what is good and bad?

Who makes morals and who sets the rules? Where is the red line between the good and the bad? Killing is bad, but killing someone in revenge or self defense is not considered bad. Crimes happen because criminals don't like the laws, so should we remove the laws for the crime to be not considered a crime?

No, that wouldn't solve anything. So what is necessary? To have a system that treats everyone equally and provides justice! Oh, wait! We already have that. But the system is corrupt. It doesn't work in the favor of justice. Rich get privilege and the strong get power.

If war is truly the ultimate solution to everything, then this world should be destroyed. Why do you think humanity has progressed so far? They survived every extinction since the beginning of time. Would you call that evolution? Would you say that we as humans… adapted to the changes and survived?"

"..." Eric was baffled to hear Rudy's thoughts. He didn't expect Rudy to ask him those questions. Of course, he could answer them if he wanted, but he was well aware that answering Rudy's questions will make him ask even more questions.

However, he couldn't stay silent.

"Let me explain the situation to you. Then you tell me, what is the right thing to do and which side should I choose?"

Eric plugged the pen drive into a projector device and played the recorded footage.

The scene started in a conference room where a few hundred people— heroes— were sitting, and the three founders of the Hero organization were sitting on the stage, facing the heroes.

The atmosphere was tense, but none of the heroes looked nervous. After all, they were the country's strongest heroes, and they had no fear.

The angle from which the footage was recorded was from the far left side of the room, two rows back from the front.

Rudy turned to Eric and asked, "Did you record this?"

"Yes." Eric nodded. "We weren't allowed to take any devices with us, but…" Eric showed his hero device to Rudy and shrugged his shoulders.

"Erika did her magic, huh?" Rudy guessed.

"Yeah. She made it so that the sensor didn't catch the frequencies."

The video continued and the hero organization's founder came one by one and gave their speech.

"We are the one serving this nation! We are the one protecting it! We are doing everything we can for this nation, so why shouldn't we run it as well?!" the founders declared together.

The atmosphere in the room suddenly changed, and the tone had shifted. Still, the founders continued speaking, taking turns one after another.

"The people who are running this nation are nothing but a bunch of pathetic scoundrels who are corrupted to their very core. It's politics. They will say things in your favor in the morning while planning to kill you by night. They shouldn't be trusted!"

The manner and tone the founders were speaking with surely ignited something within the listeners.

"When the apocalypses hit the entire world, what did the government do? Nothing. They were clueless and so were we. However, it was the hero organization who saved the world. They couldn't do a damn thing. They wanted to create a system where the heroes would be indebted to the government through their schemes.

You heroes wouldn't have had any freedom. You would have been no different from their slaves. They would have decided on who to save. Tell me, O mighty heroes!

Isn't it for the strong to protect the weak? Isn't it for the good to conquer the evil? Should our world be run by people like that? We are better than them. They don't understand what people want. The world order has changed and so should the people who run it.

Tell me, O heroes. Who can understand you the best? Who can run the world better, for its people and the heroes. Heroes are to save the citizens, but we will soon change that. We will make every citizen a hero! The current government wants us— the hero organization— to hand over our control to them. They want to decide what to do with the heroes.

Do you want the same thing to happen as it did two years ago?"

"No!" All the heroes in the room yelled after recalling the tragedy that occurred two years ago.

"So let's start a revolution. Let's take control. Let's rule this nation! Let's save this nation! Let's make it great again!"
