"Hah?! Why should I apologize to her? Shouldn't she be apologizing to me instead, for bumping into me?" Manuel shifted all the blame on Rize and acted as a victim.

"You clearly said a minute ago that you 'accidentally' bumped into her. And now you say that she bumped into you? Make up your mind. She was already on the stage and you are the one who got into her space," Rudy asserted.

Alice and Janet were worried since Rudy was standing his ground against Manuel, who was one of the strongest heroes in the world. He retired once the apocalypse ended and joined the department as an official.

Of course, Rize was worried too, but one more emotion was causing havoc inside her. It was the feeling of love.

Rize liked Rudy, but after seeing how much he cared about her, her heart couldn't take it anymore. She had completely fallen for him, forgetting the fact that Rudy might be in trouble for speaking against an official of the HWS department.

Manuel rushed down the stage and used his telekinesis powers on Rudy, pulling him close— or so Manuel wanted to do, but his powers didn't work on Rudy.

"...!" Shock was evident on Manuel's face.

'Why is my power not working on him?!' he panicked. He then looked at Eric, who was standing beside Rudy. 'Oh! He must be canceling my telekinetic powers.'

However, Eric had no idea about it. He didn't even know that Manuel had once again used his powers against a civilian.

'Eric doesn't seem to know that his aura canceled my powers. Looks like this son of a bitch got stronger again! This is why I had to retire! Young generations could easily surpass the new ones! Well, now I have become someone who can control these heroes. I might not be stronger than them, but have power over them!'

Manuel realized Eric didn't intentionally cancel his powers. 'Wait, this might work in my favor. Had I used my powers, Eric would have acted out again. Dammit! Why did he have to be here?! If only he was here!' Manuel gritted his teeth in anger.

Rudy smirked slightly and asked, "Were you going to say something?"

"Yes. But not to you."

Manuel turned to Eric and uttered, "Eric, you know about the new world order that will soon take place. It has already begun, which is why we are here. You have the option to choose your side. Think carefully and submit your answer as soon as possible. Otherwise, you will miss out and be at a great disadvantage."

After saying that, Manuel left the classroom with his four companions.

'New world order?' Rudy raised his brow. 'Why do I not know about this? Well, duh! It's a recent event and hasn't been made public. Still, this sounds big… and serious.

Wait… that bastard didn't apologize!' frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓

The lecture had ended and so were the school hours. Everyone was free to leave or go to their respective clubs.

Usually, the time would be filled with happiness. Students enjoying themselves and getting excited about going home or to get their club activities done. However, the atmosphere was silent. No student uttered a word. They all felt worried and uneasy about their future.

Will the school really be closed?

One would expect the students to be happy, but they weren't. Sure, it was natural for a student to wish that their school should be burned down, but the reality was different. They would like a few days on holidays, but if their school was forever closed— in their case, demolished— they would have nowhere else to go.

Out of most of the students in the school— precisely 769— 690 were normal humans and didn't have powers. They didn't want to be forced to take hero training when it was absolutely unnecessary.

There were tens of millions of heroes in the world, and the apocalypse had ended. All that was left to do was to kill all the remaining monsters who had invaded the planet during the apocalypse.

Of course, there were chances that a normal civilian would be exposed to a monster and they would lose their life if they didn't know how to defend themselves. But regardless of how much training they take, they wouldn't be able to defeat a monster.

Rudy, Alice, and Janet passed through the school gate to make their way home, but they were stopped by Eric, who suddenly landed in front of them.

Rudy looked at Eric and then nudged Janet. "Look at this guy. Flexing his powers in front of us."

"Stop it, Rudy. I want to talk to you about something serious and I need your help," Eric uttered in a solemn voice.

"Oka..y? I am listening."

Eric glanced around and said, "Not like this. I need to talk to you in private. Somewhere no one can see or hear us."

Although Rudy didn't want to leave Janet and Alice behind, he had to do it because Eric seemed serious and Rudy had never seen him like that— except that one time when he was caught playing a hentai game by his mother and he came to Rudy for help.

Rudy and Eric left and went the other way instead of his house.

"Where are we going?" Rudy asked Eric as he followed him blindly.

"I already told you. Somewhere."

"Man, you are a pain in the ass sometimes. We could have gone to your house. I am sure no one is there. Or at my house."

"This is not something that can be spoken off in public. No one should hear it. Absolutely no one. Otherwise…" Eric kept walking and answering all the questions Rudy asked.

"Why are you acting so scared? You are one of the strongest heroes in this country. You don't have to act like a—"

Before Rudy could finish, Eric uttered something that left even Rudy speechless and he understood why Eric behaved like that.

"The Heroes of this country are planning a civil war."
