The journey became much faster after Griv's complete evolution, from serving dinner to hunting the same wolves that took his life. It seemed those attribute points gained from his loyalty were more than enough.

However, another big change happened to him.

Leonhardt's eyes shifted to the succubus beside him who leaned against the glass with her eyes closed, quietly breathing.

She looked more radiant than before, with shiny skin, plump juicy lips and a light complexion because he accepted her situation. Leonhardt didn't lock the carriage door, and just like the first night, she snuck inside and used her hand to show him heaven.

Unlike the first night, however, Zafira didn't run because he caught her wrist, and the pair talked for hours until they agreed on a solution.

But those nights of suffering were now over, and the sated succubus snored beside him.

'Did we get closer?' He asked himself, hoping it was true.

Suddenly, a low thud hit the carriage wall, followed by the elegant yet croaky goblin voice that allowed Leonhardt to relax during this trip. "Master, we are coming up to the city. This old goblin wants to remind you of the danger."

'It's embarrassing'

Leonhardt reminded on the morning after Zafira squeezed him dry, Griv would boil an extra strong broth filled with male-enhancing ingredients.

However, this also helped the two men bond as Griv spoke about a female goblin from the dungeon that he gave his heart to.

'I should make her into the head maid... so the pair can meet more often.'

He never really cared about the goblins before, but now it felt important and also extremely fun to get involved with them.

Because Zafira rarely woke up after a night of 'feeding.' Leonhardt opened the window, and as the wind slammed against his face, he smiled.

The carriage drove along a dirt road surrounded by a beautiful emerald plain close to Astrea. Meanwhile, Leon jumped outside, gripped the handle used to climb onto the coachman's seat, and flung himself through the air in an arc before sitting beside Griv.

"Morning, Griv."

"Oh, devils! Master, you shocked the grog out of this goblin!" Griv snapped the reins to stop the black, muscular horses from swerving off the road.

"This seat feels much better now."

Leonhardt commented on the thick padded cushion he bought for Griv after learning how hard it was to ride on the wooden seat alone.

"Mmh—firm, yet forgiving... like a merciful mistress. You've done this old spine a mercy, Sire. Next, maybe a parasol? Or shall I ride shirtless and scandalous?"

Sometimes Griv's change shocked Leonhardt, who enjoyed how deep his conversational and social skills became. At times, he even felt that Griv surpassed him, causing Leonhardt to start wanting to improve himself... to become more elegant and charming.

'I am a king after all, but where can I learn this?'

Despite the obvious princess sleeping behind them, he ignored her while knowing she might teach him a strange style of speaking and turn him into a horrible lady-killer.

"Is that..."

A spire appeared above the horizon, tall and white with a huge blue flag flickering in the mild wind, the image of a lion roaring. The symbol of the accursed kingdom that Leonhardt would soon face as their nemesis.

"Astrea, aye…"

He leaned forward slightly, reins slack in his hands, eyes narrowing on the distant spire.

"White stone, blue flags, and gold up their arses. The city's clean on the outside and rotten in the belly. Like it ate up a load of horse sh—!" The horse's loud neigh interrupted him as if protesting to his words while Griv's lips curled.

"They say the lion roars for justice. I say it roars 'cause someone shoved a stick too far in."

He hacked and spat over the side of the carriage, right as the wind blew it back into the road dust. Leonhardt didn't know that his goblins held such deep feelings, but then again he never asked or thought, where did his goblins come from.

'Are they like dark elves?'

An existence that once lived in this world, but after dying are turned into formless mana as a punishment or judgment from the gods, before being summoned and given a new form and existence by the Dungeon Master or summoner.

"Noble blood, noble laws, noble lies. Be real careful in there, Master. They smile pretty, but their knives are polished to match."

He glanced sidelong at Leonhardt, half a grin forming.

"Course, with you in charge, I'm not scared. You've got a worse temper than any lion."

The crass laughter sounded strangely comfortable to Leonhardt, even when Griv spoke with an aggressive tone; his elegance didn't vanish; it was a mystery.

"The feeling is mutual, with a butler like you. I'm not afraid someone else will stab me in the back, because you'd be the one to do it first."

[Griv's Loyalty +10]

"Hahaha, Sire you know me too well! But I could never betray you... that'd be foolish, a fools game isn't Griv's game. Griv only plays it smart and by the ears."

"I see, lucky me."

"Yes sire, you are lucky."

Though Leonhardt wondered what went on in the goblin's little head, the wiry Griv was the first person with whom he could feel completely relaxed. "Don't change Griv."

"I won't, Sire. Even if you kill me—again."

Griv emphasised the last word, but his face looked amused while chuckling to himself. His cloudy yellow eyes peeked at Leonhardt before returning to the road. As if he was judging the distance he should maintain as a butler, and confident.

The carriage rattled and rocked across the poor quality of road.

Each time they passed into a new zone, Leonhardt would purchase the land and convert it into his dungeon, though without Zafira to help them, the amount of passive DP started to decrease.

'I need to find a way to farm dungeon points and experience, something that almost breaks the rules.'

The first idea he had was to have someone form a dungeon in his territory, then send goblins to attack the dungeon daily to gather more and more Dungeon points. 'Though war will bring huge amounts, the danger of waging war against humans is great... I should speed up my plan to conquer the orcs in the west.'

"Sire, you should return to the carriage, otherwise those human punks will look down on you, after all—status is everything to those hairless apes."

"You're right Griv, but sitting here was quite relaxing."

Griv made a sound somewhere between a grunt and a wheeze as the carriage jolted again, his bony hands adjusting the reins with sharp flicks. He glanced sideways, yellow eyes narrowing with a sly glint.

"Relaxing, eh? I'll remember that next time my spine's tryin' to escape through me back."

He scratched under his collar, muttering. "But let's be honest, Sire—if you were really after comfort, you'd be back there sittin' beside Mistress Zafira. Soft thighs, sweet scent, and the kind of body heat that'd melt a mountain troll."

He huffed a laugh through his nose.

"Instead, you're up here ridin' shotgun with a creaky old goblin who smells like pickled lizard guts. Truly, your sense of pleasure confuses and terrifies me."

Griv paused for a moment before he whispered with the most genuine smile his slightly twisted jaw could manage.

"But I appreciate it."

"Griv, don't forget the code—Blades before babes, goblins before glans," Leonhardt smirked, with his arms folding and nodding, proud of himself.

"Besides, if I sit back there too long, I might end up becoming a father—or drained dry."

"..."

However, Griv neither showed affirmation or denial to this phrase and stoically continued to snap the reins, causing Leonhardt to withdraw, climbing into the cabin—only to find Zafira gazing his way with her sharp golden eyes glowing in the dull carriage.

"Goblins before Glans... heh. What a funny little joke, Leon." She then shifted her body, letting her loose robe slip down her arms, revealing the upper half of her soft, boundless breasts and touching her cheek.

"It's funny because I remember you asking me to lick your gl—" Leonhardt rushed forward, almost tripping from the momentum of the rocking carriage, making Zafira's chest bounce slightly with each rotation.

He then covered her mouth and hissed. "Wait, wait... it's not the time for that kind of talk! We're almost there, so let's get dressed, okay?"

Zafira observed him with a smile before she narrowed her eyes like a deadly snake eyeing her prey.

As she reached for him, the loud ringing of Astrea's bell tower chimed, signalling they had arrived at the gates of Astrea and saved him.
