Dragged Into Another World Because of My Otaku Friend-Chapter 33: Disaster In Lily Town
Chapter 33: Disaster In Lily Town
"I can’t wait to pull the new pack. Hope I get at least an SR!" Bob said, hopping along excitedly. Mina was perched on my shoulder this time, looking drowsy, understandable, considering how hard she worked healing both of us today.
"Don’t get your hopes too high, man. It’ll just bounce back and hit you in the face," I said, gently placing Mina onto my hand and softly brushing her tiny body to help her sleep.
We were finally near the East Gate entrance. After a long day of monster hunting, we’d successfully racked up enough BP to hit 2000.
From the elite slime, we obtained an uncommon [Great MP Potion] card and a rare passive skill card [Gel Body]. It reduces physical damage and grants slight resistance to blunt attacks. So far, we’ve earned two passive skills from today’s hunt, not a bad haul for our first real outing.
When we arrived in town, the townspeople greeted us with waves and cheers. We’re quite well known here, ever since we saved Kel. But honestly, I would’ve preferred staying under the radar, it’s more comfortable that way. Bob, on the other hand, acted like a full-blown celebrity, grinning and waving at everyone like he owned the place.
A few minutes later, we entered our room. The fire lamps on the walls were already lit, casting a warm glow that signaled dusk had arrived.
I tossed my backpack onto the bed and sat down, letting out a quiet sigh.
Bob, as usual, couldn’t sit still. He immediately opened his status screen and jumped into the [Shop] tab, eyes sparkling.
"Hmm... which one should I pick?" he said, tapping his chin like he was choosing between two rare desserts.
"What do you actually want? A weapon, skills, or a new class?" I asked, leaning against the wall at a 45-degree angle, legs folded, hands tucked behind my head.
"I don’t really mind, anything SR or higher would be nice. But if I had to choose... I’d prefer a weapon," he replied, eyes glued to the screen as he scrolled through the available packs.
It didn’t take long before his excitement deflated.
"Man, all these packs are beginner-themed. The highest rarity is just Rare." His voice cracked with disappointment. "Dude... there’s no SR in these. What am I gonna do?" he said, eyes glassy with exaggerated tears.
I glanced at him and sighed. I pitied him.
A little.
Just a little.
I gave him two choices: first, wait until we unlock a better pack that might contain an SR, or second, just go ahead and pick any pack today, hoping to at least pull a Rare.
His eyes lit up like a kid in a candy store.
Yep. This guy just wants to pull cards. Classic card-opening addiction.
After five minutes of deliberation, he finally picked the Chronicles of Power Pack and began reading the description aloud.

He pressed the purchase button. In a flash, a pack materialized in his hands.
I immediately sat upright, sensing the anticipation thick in the air. Bob stood in the center of the room, holding the shimmering pack.
It was a deep purple color, adorned with the image of a glowing ancient tome. Subtle silver linings framed the edges, and the words Chronicles of Power were etched in soft, white-gold lettering that seemed to shimmer faintly under the light.
Bob carefully tore the pack open and tipped it downward. The backs of the cards revealed the emblem of the Limitless Bond System, beautiful, intricate, and gleaming faintly.
He stared at the cards with wide eyes, hope burning bright.
"Let’s go!!"
Five minutes later...
Bob lay flat on his bed, face buried in the pillow, his arms sprawled out and his butt slightly raised in defeat.
He was completely devastated by the results of his pull.

"Hey man... your pull is actually pretty nice."

I’m used to this sulking-mode Bob. By tomorrow, he’ll be back to default.

"Why don’t you just try your luck, Bram?" a man said, walking down the street beside another. He held a spear in one hand and a torch in the other.
"I don’t know, Alex... I’m scared Dana will reject me. If she does, my heart will shatter into pieces."
Both of them were young men, around twenty years old. They were on patrol duty that night, walking along one of the streets toward the town center, each holding a spear.
Bram pulled a small ring from his pocket. "This is all my savings... I really hope she accepts it." The ring was gold, shaped delicately like a blooming rose.
"I’ve always got your back, man. Just go for it," Alex said, giving Bram a friendly punch on the shoulder.
"Alright... tomorrow, I’ll propose to her." Bram smiled, his face full of hope.
As they neared the town’s central fountain, they noticed a figure standing still in the middle. Both squinted, trying to make it out. Alex raised his torch, holding it out to get a better look.
"Who’s there?!" Bram shouted.
The figure remained still, silent. The duo continued approaching, Bram lowering his stance and pointing his spear forward, ready to thrust if needed.
As they drew closer, the torchlight illuminated the figure, a man in disheveled clothing, tongue hanging out, his body trembling slightly.
"This guy... he’s the one who was wandering the streets," Alex muttered.
"Hey... are you alright?" Bram stepped closer, concern in his voice. ƒreewebɳovel.com
Suddenly, the man began to convulse violently, shaking as if seizing, yet still somehow upright.
"Lllliiiii...ssssaaaa..."
Bram and Alex froze, then instinctively stepped back in shock.
The man’s convulsions grew more violent, until, without warning, something began to grow beneath his skin. Bulges formed all over his body, swelling grotesquely before rupturing through his flesh. Blood and flesh sprayed out as shimmering, crystal-like structures burst forth.
Crystals erupted across his arms, chest, legs, his entire body. He screamed in agony, a raw, inhuman sound echoing through the night. Hundreds of glowing shards pierced through him, covering him in jagged brilliance. Then, silence.
His head slowly tilted upward.
And then his mouth opened, wider than humanly possible.
From the depths of his throat, a massive crystal surged out.
Bram and Alex turned pale, nausea washing over them as they stared at the grotesque sight before them, blood, crystals, and torn flesh forming a twisted sculpture of agony.
Then, without warning, a large magic array flared to life beneath the crystallized corpse. It pulsed with crimson and yellow light, casting eerie shadows across the fountain square. A low hum resonated from it, vibrating through the ground.
Suddenly, a portal burst open at its center, then another, and another. More than ten portals swirled into existence, each crackling with unstable energy.
From within them, creatures began to emerge.
Some walked on two legs, vaguely humanoid but horribly distorted, elongated limbs, mismatched eyes, faces stretched into permanent screams. Others crawled on insect-like legs, their forms chittering with unnatural motion.
They came in all sizes, small, writhing things the size of a dog, to towering hulks that barely squeezed through the gateways.
One by one, they poured into the night.
Bram and Alex were trembling. The sight before them was beyond anything they could handle.
"Run!" Bram shouted, and they bolted down the street.
"Alex! Go ring the tower bell, warn everyone!"
"What about you?!"
"I have to save Dana! She’s alone with her mother!" Bram’s voice was desperate.
"Be careful, Bram—!"
Before Alex could finish, Bram was suddenly flung backward like a ragdoll. He crashed into a stone wall with a sickening thud. Blood splattered.
Alex’s eyes widened in shock.
A massive trident had pierced through Bram’s chest, pinning him to the wall. He coughed up blood, his eyes glazing over.
Alex turned toward the source.
A hulking figure stepped from the shadows, two meters tall, broad-shouldered, with the head of a bull and steam rising from its nostrils.
"Bramm!" Alex screamed as he rushed to his friend.
But as he looked into Bram’s eyes, wide, pupils dilated and unfocused, he knew. His friend was already gone.
Trembling, Alex turned his head toward the portal. More and more monsters were stepping out, some crawling, some walking, grotesque forms spilling into the quiet town streets, heading toward the residential district.
He couldn’t waste a second.
Alex ran with all his might, heart pounding, eyes burning with grief and fear. He reached the nearest watchtower and climbed up, skipping steps as he ascended.
At the top, he grabbed the bell’s rope and yanked it with all his strength.
TING! TING! TING! TING!
The bell’s sound echoed across the entire town, shattering the silence of the cold night. Lights flicked on from flame inside houses. Windows opened. People woke up from their slumber, unaware of the horror that had just entered their town.
A faint glow pulsed beneath Bram’s lifeless body, his engagement ring, glinting softly under the moonlight.
The bull-headed monster stepped forward, gripping the trident still lodged in Bram’s chest. With a wet, sickening sound, it yanked the weapon free. Bram’s body slumped lifelessly against the wall.
Without a second glance, the creature stomped over the ring, shattering it into pieces beneath its hooves.
The portals behind it continue surged with unholy energy. From them, hundreds of monsters keep poured out. They shared only one purpose:
To kill every living soul in the town.
