Eiro landed on the roof of what used to be this town's church. It was the tallest building, as was usually the case, and had become the nest of the harpies' leader. The inside of the church's main area was now a brooding area where harpies could safely care for their eggs and hatchlings.

Here at the top of the church's tower, where the bell was once hanging, was now a place for the harpy leader to perch and watch over the city. She was one of the more agreeable, and one of the more easily managed amongst the leaders. Basically the moment Eiro exerted some power over her, she agreed to do his bidding. So now, she acted as a watchman for the town, keeping track of any trouble that was happening around the area and alerting others that could actually intervene efficiently.

However, right now, she was down below in the church's main halls. It seemed as though she herself had some eggs to keep an eye on. That was why this spot was great for Eiro right now. He had peace and quiet, and could watch over the whole town with ease.

He sat at the edge of the roof and formed an artificial system window using arcane magic, and then pulled out the Author's Pen using the card binder. He glanced at the pattern that the mental duplicates had already figured out from within the library, and quickly started copying it onto the artificial system window. Soon, it seemd to be taking hold in some way, as Eiro felt instinct take over and the screen was filled out completely to the edge.

And then, a moment later, the screen flickered and disappeared, and a message popped up in front of his eyes.

[New personal System function has been created – System Connect]

---

A small smile formed on his lips before jumping off the rooftop, stopping himself with a small gust of wind magic before hitting the ground. He walked over to a nearby monster taking a break; a kobold, sitting on a barrel at the side of the road while eating some kind of grilled meat.

He was clearly shocked to see Eiro approaching him, ending up stunned and with the food halfway in his mouth.

"Could I ask you to open your status window for a moment?" Eiro asked, and the kobold slowly nodded. The Demon could already see it displayed through the monster's eyes. Right now, the ability wasn't quite working yet. However, upon touching his right shoulder, Eiro saw a system window flicker into existence next to him. It was the Kobold's status. Curiously, Eiro let go of the kobold's shoulder again, and the window disappeared.

"... So it requires physical contact, huh?" he muttered to himself. He was sure he could find a workaround for that somehow. Either way, this was a good start. Now he just had to figure out something else. Once again, he touched the kobold's shoulder with one of his hands, and then turned to the system window.

As he touched the window, he could feel the same pressure and cold sensation that he did when touching his own. He flicked his wrist and moved the status window to the side, as he would with his own, and the kobold looked around, startled and confused as someone else was controlling his own personal system windows.

But there was more that Eiro wanted to try out. Most importantly, whether or not this really worked as he wanted it to. With a brief thought, he called up the information of one of the kobold's skills. The second window appeared instantly, with no delay. Eiro quickly closed it again, and closed the entire status window. Then, with another thought, he opened it again.

"Thanks. I appreciate the assistance," Eiro said, stepping away from the kobold, but not before casting a small spell on him. It was just a particular application of healing magic that would fill him with a bit more energy throughout today, as a small 'reward' for helping Eiro test his new ability.

The first test worked without a hitch, but that was a 'voluntary' process. He needed to make sure that he could use this even without willing participation. And so, Eiro used his stealth to completely fade away, approaching another monster from behind. With how powerful Eiro's stealth was by now, he was able to touch others without them noticing.

And as he did, he tried to open the monster's status window, and it worked without a hitch. The monster was confused and startled for a moment, but that was fine. It worked perfectly.

'System Connect', an ability that allowed Eiro to completely take control of another's system as if it were his own. Which was, frankly, an incredibly powerful ability. Of course, it wasn't an actively powerful ability, but it allowed Eiro to basically use an appraisal skill. There were some caveats to how it could be used, but Eiro would be able to figure something out with some more experiments.

And so, he continued with his tests.

Touching them through magic, such as through a Mage Hand spell, wasn't effective.

Using duplicates did work. However, only as long as the duplicate itself had the mental capacity to understand the concept of 'touching' someone, which gave Eiro a pretty big hint already. It had something to do with the mind and one's awareness. The thing that was activating this ability, that was triggering it, had to be mentally aware of it. And so... Eiro tried out something else. He created a servant and allowed it to make use of this ability.

And it didn't work. At least, not fully. Eiro could feel the connection, and as the individual that the servant was attached to got a system notification, Eiro was able to see it. This was fine; it was only a 'read' access. He couldn't personally execute any system commands. But this was already perfect for large-scale observation.

Eiro tapped his foot on the ground, trying to figure out how to best use this. He had already created shadow servants that were attached to the humans as well as a few particular members of this town to keep track of them and watch their actions, so he should be able to update their abilities and allow them to at least see the notifications they got. That way, he can keep track of every single system message they were going to get, and view them if necessary. Sooner or later, he would be able to see the status of every individual that one of these shadow servants was attached to.

But he couldn't 'reconstruct' his servants from afar. For that, he had to be close to them, for the same reasons why he wasn't able to create servants at a distance. But he did have a connection with them... so maybe he would be able to...

Eiro returned to the roof of the church's tower, and started working on another additional system functions. A way to access his ability to control the servants. Something that he could use to control and directly access a large amount of servants. It was clear that by creating specific system functions could strengthen or deepen some of his abilities in unique ways, so maybe he could make something like this happen.

He tried to figure out a good way to create this function, soon analysing the patterns to a point where he at least knew the starting section. By just writing this onto an artificial window, that instinct took over again and he was able to fill out the rest of the screen, naturally closing any gaps that his ideas had created. And the window flickered for a moment, and the pattern was soon replaced by new information.

[New personal System function has been created – Servant Manager]

---

Eiro smiled broadly at the large list in front of him. Here, he had every single servant of his. He could highlight specific servants and knew directly which one he was dealing with, creating an immediate mental connection as if he had done so manually.

Eiro could sort and filter the lists by different aspects, like the distance to the servant, the element used to create them, the abilities they possessed, whether they had a name or not, and of course, whether they were an artificial creation or a pre-existing creature. Though, there were only two that were part of that category anyway. Anura and Gobo. As he highlighted them, an option popped up on the screen. He was able to directly view their system log. This new function had automatically connected to other functions he already created, so this was more than just perfect.

And, just like Eiro had hoped, the demon was able to bestow or take away abilities, though that only related to the servants he had created from his own magic, and sadly not Anura and Gobo. Taking a look at the 'knowledge' servants that were gathering information for him, Eiro was able to directly glance at the book they were filling out and read through it. And then, Eiro selected all of these servants, and gave them the new ability to read others' system messages, and it didn't take long before they were printed out in these 'books' that each servant was writing for the individual they were attached to.

And then, Eiro turned to a list of other servants. A massive amount of them were shadow servants. A while back, he had turned the shadows of a massive amount of coins into servants, so that he could have ears in every part of the kingdom. Selecting all of them, Eiro gave them that same knowledge-gathering ability, making each of them write down all the information in a single massive tome that was going to need some filtering later on.

But for the time being, Eiro was happy with these new functions. He really did wonder what else he was able to make. Especially functions that allowed him to use his abilities in more unique ways would be amazing. Maybe he could turn passive abilities on and off, or he could do what he did for his duplicates while in his cocoon, and limit his own stats. Either way... Eiro should be able to expand his system's capabilities by quite a bit.
