Chapter 19 - Poor Sabo

Cado's heart leapt with joy as he strode forward confidently.

This was exactly what he had hoped for—he just hadn't expected the Grand Elder to offer it himself. Even better.

"Thank you, Grand Elder!" Cado said sincerely as he stepped up.

The Grand Elder nodded with a gentle smile, then placed his hand on top of Cado's head.

Seconds ticked by.

Cado furrowed his brow. He didn't feel anything changing. What was going on?

"Hmm... The potential within your body is massive. I'm afraid I can't draw it all out," the Grand Elder said slowly.

Cado felt a flicker of disappointment. He had hoped this would be easy. So even this isn't enough?

"But I can help you unlock part of it," the Grand Elder added after a pause. "The rest... will be up to you."

Whoosh!

Cado felt as though something had tugged him upward from the inside.

A refreshing surge coursed through his blood, and his muscles and bones experienced a wave of unprecedented ease.

"All done, child," the Grand Elder said, removing his hand.

"Thank you, Grand Elder!" Cado exclaimed again, this time with clear excitement.

He could feel it—his energy had doubled. His combat strength had just gone from 8 million to 16 million.

And this was only a portion of his full potential. If it were fully awakened, who knew how terrifying the result would be?

No wonder Krillin in the original story had been so excited about this.

With such a sudden power boost, who wouldn't be?

"You two, come here as well," the Grand Elder called to Goku and Piccolo.

Seeing the glow on Cado's face, Goku didn't hesitate. He rushed forward eagerly.

Moments later, both Goku and Piccolo had their potential unlocked too. And their gains were even more ridiculous than Cado's.

"Whoa... Is this really my energy? It's insane!" Goku shouted, more hyped than Cado had been.

He had started with around 20,000 power before arriving on Namek. Now? 100,000.

Even Piccolo couldn't help but smile, though his increase wasn't quite as dramatic—he'd reached about 60,000.

Cado looked at the two of them with genuine happiness.

Thanks to his intervention, their power-ups weren't quite as extreme as they had been in the original timeline... but on the flip side, they were getting treatment they never had before.

As their teammate, he was truly happy for them.

"Don't get too comfortable just yet. Someone's coming," Nail said, his tone grim.

Cado had already sensed the approaching presence.

It wasn't particularly strong, so he hadn't paid it much attention... until now.

Before Nail's voice had even faded, a shout rang out:

"Everyone inside, come out and DIE!"

It was Sabo—one of Frieza's lackeys.

Using his scouter, he had tracked them all the way here.

"Oh great, another one coming to get himself killed?" Cado muttered lazily.

Goku, Piccolo, and the others stepped outside with him.

Nail stood guard by the Grand Elder, ready in case anything went wrong.

"Was it you who killed Dodoria?" Sabo barked, glaring.

"That was me. Why, looking to join him?" Cado replied, unbothered.

Sabo glanced at his scouter. It showed the group's power levels only in the low thousands.

Pathetic. How had Dodoria lost to these nobodies?

"Hah. Don't think just because you got lucky with Dodoria that you're in my league," Sabo sneered.

Must've been a sneak attack, he figured. Dodoria would never lose in a fair fight.

"Well, if you're so eager to reunite with your pal, I'll help you along," Cado said with a smirk, his gaze casually dismissive.

"Hey hey, Cado—let me handle this one! It's been way too long since I had a good fight!" Goku stepped in, eyes gleaming.

Ever since Cado showed up, Goku had barely had a chance to throw a real punch.

Now, with his power skyrocketing, his confidence was back. He wanted a fight.

"Back off, Goku. This one's mine. Nobody gets in my way," Piccolo growled, brushing past him.

He, too, had been holding back for too long. He needed to let it out.

"No way, Piccolo. I called dibs. He's mine!" Goku argued.

Piccolo: "Not happening. I'm taking him."

The two began to bicker, each stubbornly insisting they'd be the one to fight.

Sabo stood to the side, face going from blue to pitch black.

What was this?! Did they think he was weak? Just some throwaway side quest? Someone to be argued over?

He was one of Lord Frieza's top enforcers!

And now he was being treated like a warm-up?

"Enough! You two morons—just come at me together!" Sabo snarled, pointing furiously.

Goku and Piccolo exchanged a look. Guess they had no choice.

Cado watched with a touch of pity in his eyes.

Poor guy.

Whoosh! Whoosh!

Goku and Piccolo blitzed forward like lightning.

Sabo hadn't expected them to be this fast—he couldn't react in time.

Before he knew it, they were on him from both sides, fists flying. He couldn't do a thing.

Maybe it was the surge in power—maybe they weren't used to their new strength yet—but their control was still rough.

THUD!

Their fists struck Sabo's head at the same time with a heavy smack.

His body hit the ground hard, eyes wide open, bloodshot and lifeless.

He looked... stunned. As if he couldn't believe this was how it ended.

He had seen their power levels—only a few thousand each. How could he possibly have lost to them?

Cado stared at the body, his expression unmoved.

The man was dead the moment he picked this fight. No surprise there.

"Hey, Piccolo! You hit him too hard—he's dead!" Goku complained.

"Hmph. That was your punch that killed him," Piccolo retorted, arms crossed. "I was holding back. Otherwise, I would've blown his head clean off."

"Alright, enough," Cado sighed, rubbing his forehead.

"That was just the warm-up. The real fight's coming."

His eyes narrowed, pointing in the distance.

"There. That's where the real enemy is."

With that, his body blurred into a meteor streak, darting toward the horizon.

Goku and Piccolo wasted no time. They powered up and shot off after him—straight toward the overwhelming power ahead.
