Crushing flags and claiming the Villainess-Chapter 227 - 226- Reunion(1)
For the next few days, all they did was arrange units and give them the orders to take formations at different coasts.
There were three points through which the demonic army could enter the mainland.
If they entered from the north-eastern coast, which they most likely would, given what the soothsayer relayed, then they would head toward Ademerg rather than Hener, which was nearly attached to the coast, or Eryndor, which would be much more accessible if they entered from the center.
If they enter from the north-eastern coast, they would head toward the vast forest, which could lead them to two nations based on their direction. In the east, they would find Eryndor, and followed by them would be Ademerg.
However, if they enter the forest and head west, then they would need to travel for quite a long time to reach the kingdom named Valmora.
Naturally, by now every nation on the human side has been warned and told to take security measures for possible attacks.
However, the major concern loomed over Eryndor and Ademerg. Under normal circumstances, Eryndor might have been the prime target, but because of the prophecy, they were paying more attention to Ademerg.
The council headquarters have been vacated except for the officers who would be defending against the demonic forces. All the Council heads have taken shelter, far away from the war zone, since they believe they are the pillars that should not get demolished until the end.
Well, no one could get against them because the strongest warrior in the world was devoted to them.
...
It has already been ten days since Austin arrived in Ademerg.
He was now at the Headquarters, waiting for the demonic army.
Along with him were two familiar people, and all the rest were nearly strangers.
Sebastian couldn’t be ordered around since he only serves his Lord. And Rudolph was required on the front lines, so he traveled along with Austin.
Apart from the three, the three S-ranks were also present as a few official members of the Council were.
"Here, have this." One of the council members was distributing a small blue droplet-shaped artifact.
"This will help us to communicate," He relayed the use of the artifact.
It is the same artifact that they used on the checkpost, albeit the size was a lot smaller.
Austin nodded and stuffed it inside his pocket.
"Did you have a word with the Teacher?" Charlotte asked the Prince, a frown of concern written over her face.
Although very few people know about it, it was a fact that Selner was the bridge that connected the two realms.
She would know the Demonic army’s movement and when they could expect their enemy to arrive.
Her role is quite crucial in this.
Austin was about to respond to her, when suddenly, "Quite eager you are, Charlotte."
Charlotte was startled and every single person in the room flinched upon hearing the voice of the person who undoubtedly wasn’t present here a moment ago.
Even William, who can hear even the faintest of sounds around him, never realized when the woman appeared in the room and took a seat just on his left.
He gave a polite bow to the woman, "Glad to see you in good health."
"How are you, Will? I heard you volunteered to be a part of this war?"
The blond one nodded, "If my people are in danger, I should be present at the frontline and stand as a shield for my people."
Selner exhaled a sigh with a slight shake of her head. This guy never changes.
Initially, she believed he was just putting up an act to be so devoted to public safety. However, once she started teaching him, his dedication to his training and his aim to create a peaceful world made her realize that William comes from that rare one percent who can take the arrow in his chest to protect his people. Those who believe in giving second chances to everyone, including his enemies.
However, he considers demons his nemesis. There was no second chance in his books for them, and that was a major relief.
"I am curious about your Shard, William." Selner relayed as she leaned back in her seat.
William wordlessly summoned his sword and extended it toward Selner.
Austin’s brows elevated as he saw the blade in his hand.
A sword with a long blade that grows narrower as it goes down toward its tip. It had a red ruby situated in the middle of the guard. A thin handle with a round hollow circle at the end.
It was shining brightly, radiating enough Soul Energy to alert the guards outside.
The very presence of the Shard, which was also One of the Tools of Destruction, made Austin feel the difference between the others and the man.
Selner hummed, "You have been working..unlike that stupid brawler who just lazes around the whole day."
William chuckled at that and Thea grinned.
Austin was not sure about whom she was talking about, but since the other S-rankers were aware of the person, she must be one of them.
Charlotte hurriedly got up from her seat and raised the query, "Teacher, how long do we have before they arrive?"
The room fell under grave silence. The smile from William’s face vanished as he also turned serious.
They have expected to welcome their foes tomorrow, but they cannot be a hundred percent sure.
Amidst the growing silence, Selner broke the news, "They have left the shore and are advancing toward us already. It will take ten hours at most."
"...!!" Everyone was shocked by the time they had. They believed it would take another day but...!
"We need to inform all stations and increase the security of the front lines right now!" William bolted out of the room followed by others. They all had their positions to take and people to notify.
"Let’s go," Rudolph spoke and Austin nodded.
The three men got up and were about to leave when suddenly,
"Austin. We need to talk." Selner’s voice resonated and Austin came to an abrupt halt.
He nodded toward the other two and told them wordlessly to carry on.
"I will be waiting outside, young master," Sebastian said before the two stepped out of the room.
