Closer to Revealing My True Self-Chapter 818 - 526 Someone
Chapter 818: Chapter 526 Someone
In the living room.
The music had stopped.
Everything calmed down.
The silk pajamas had completed their mission and lay discarded to the side.
Feng Chi seemed unaffected by the worried and complicated looks in his parents’ eyes, full of words they seemed to hesitate to speak, as he cooled down with a towel drenched in cold water over his face.
Don’t get the wrong idea; he was not embarrassed.
What was there to be embarrassed about being caught by his parents using pajama pants to perform the Dragon Dance?
To Feng Chi, this was no big deal.
If he had been thin-skinned, he wouldn’t have set foot in the cutthroat entertainment industry.
The redness on his face was purely from excitement, from dancing the Dragon Dance.
After the heat on his face had subsided and his breathing had evened out, Feng Chi looked at his parents sitting across from him and asked, "What brings you guys here?"
"We came to grab a few things we left here last time. We messaged you, but you didn’t reply," Feng Chi’s mom said.
They had messaged Feng Chi after a party and received no reply.
They didn’t rush to call him; after all, Feng Chi was an adult and didn’t need constant calls to check his whereabouts.
The couple was on their way home and decided to stop by Feng Chi’s apartment to retrieve the item.
Feng Chi seldom stayed here due to his busy career, and even when he did come back to Yang City, he tended to stay at his parents’ place.
This apartment, though regularly cleaned by someone, would still be personally checked by the couple whenever they had the chance, just to make sure the cleaning service didn’t miss anything.
They had the keys to the place.
They had left something behind on their last visit and were stopping by to pick it up today.
Little did they know, as soon as they opened the door, they were jolted by the blatant folk music.
And upon turning their heads, they saw Feng Chi flinging pajama pants around in the living room.
Ah, that scene was truly...
The couple was very concerned about Feng Chi’s current mental state.
Now that everything had finally settled down, they could have a proper conversation.
Feng Chi’s parents asked curiously, "Weren’t you meeting Feng Yi today? How did it go between you two brothers?"
Feng Chi tilted his head slightly, his gaze distant, "Thrilling!"
They asked further, "What did you two talk about? You’re so worked up after coming back."
Feng Chi responded calmly, "That’s a secret between my brother and me!"
Hearing this, his parents didn’t pry any further.
Even though their son sometimes seemed a bit foolish, he was actually very astute when it mattered. He wouldn’t let himself be taken advantage of.
Seeing his demeanor tonight, they were content knowing something good had happened.
Feng Chi’s parents picked up the item they had left behind and reminded him, "Don’t play such music or dance like that late at night. Although the house is well-insulated, and won’t disturb the neighbors, it’s still quite frightening, especially the shrill suona in the background music."
The two were on their way out.
At that moment, Feng Chi’s dad received a new message on his phone and checked it.
As he read the content, his eyes widened in shock, and he abruptly shut the door he had just opened. Turning to Feng Chi and his mom, he exclaimed in shock,
"Someone just told me Feng Yi was ambushed on his way! They said it’s serious!"
Feng Chi jumped up, cursing, "Who the hell is spouting nonsense?!"
If this had happened before, he would have been scared, but after today... do you think I’d believe that?!
"My brother getting ambushed? No way, he would’ve counter-ambushed!"
Realizing they might be talking about something that had transpired tonight, with news getting out, Feng Chi grew anxious too.
He wasn’t worried about Feng Yi’s safety; after all, "inheritance" and the fact that people from Ancestral Factory had arrived meant nothing bad would happen.
He figured it was just the earlier commotion getting leaked.
Now, Feng Chi was concerned about whether Feng Yi’s secrets had been exposed.
"What else did they say?" Feng Chi asked urgently.
"They said reliable information has come out that there was a big commotion at Ancestral Factory tonight, several cars rushed over there, and they even deployed two helicopters urgently!" his dad mentioned, clearly anxious.
Feng Chi hesitated for a moment but still sent Feng Yi a message, having left the scene quickly, he was unsure if anything else had happened after.
This time, Feng Yi’s reply came quickly.
Upon reading the response, Feng Chi breathed a sigh of relief and told his parents, "It’s all good, there was an ambush, but my brother was prepared, no harm done."
His parents also relaxed, "That’s good! As long as he’s safe!"
Feng Chi paused, then said in a low voice, "I suspect that there will be some unrest at the old house soon, so try not to get involved."
Feng Chi’s dad, with shock written all over his face, asked, "Are you suggesting the old man was behind it?!"
Feng Chi clicked his tongue, "Dad, your acting is too exaggerated."
Who doesn’t know who here? After all these years, don’t tell me you have no clue what kind of person the old man is!
Feng Chi’s dad’s shocked expression faded to one of distress, "Ah, what a mess this all is!"
There was indeed a possibility that the old man had been involved tonight. And not an insignificant one at that!
In the past, the old man wouldn’t have dealt such a harsh blow to his direct lineage, treating his descendants almost nonchalantly, albeit with a modicum of consideration.
But as the old man grew older, his temperament became more capricious, more stubborn, and more extreme.
Why had there been such fierce infighting within the family, yet nobody dared to openly challenge the old man’s authority?
Because everyone knew that at times like this, the last thing anyone should do was provoke the old man. No one could be sure how many cards he still had up his sleeve.
He’s not someone to be trifled with when he goes off the rails!
Even his ambitious elder brother, who had played the role of the obedient son in front of the old man for decades, didn’t dare to rebel. After decades as the Crown Prince, that’s all he was -- a Crown Prince. A failed coup would mean being stripped of that title.
