Chapter 19: First Date Chaos

Leaving his mother’s with a promise to visit before she left they headed into the city on foot. Dimitri led them through the streets of Dragon City going past shops, inns, and several restaurants. The city was busy with many people trying to barter and trade their goods and services. Lily would stop ever so often and look at something she liked or admire a piece of art the caught her eye.

One place she stopped at was a little shop on the corner that sold beautiful sculpted crystals. One looked similar to Dimitri’s dragon drawing her to it. The attention to detail and the choice of stone really made to piece look alive. She would have to go back and purchase it later.

Dimitri watched as she looked through the crystal pieces knowing he would purchase what ever one she liked the most. It made him smile when she stopped on the dragon that looked just like his. Seeing this he whispered to the attendant to have it wrapped and sent to his rooms after they left.

Lily followed his lead leaving the shop as they proceeded through the streets with ease. She never felt like this before having someone want her company and enjoy being in her presence. It was new to her and kept her on edge a bit, but Dimitri didn’t let her stay in her head for long.

"We can go back to the castle if you want. I just thought you might like to try some authentic Dragon Clan food. It is something to experience outside the castle kitchens," he said turning down a busy street that was wide and open. He seemed to be taking her towards one of the main squares she had seen from the sky.

"It’s okay while I like making my own food sharing one I don’t have to cook is appealing too. My Gramma taught me to cook after I stole all that food from her. She wanted to make sure no matter what I could take care of myself." Lily like that she was able to tell him something she normally kept to herself. "You knew the previous Luna Queen?" He asked a little confused.

She chuckled understanding where he might have got the wrong impression. "No, no, of course not. My Gramma is this Older lady who owns a shop in the slum part of the Royal Wolf City. She helps the homeless find jobs and struggling families with food needs. I was caught stealing food from her shop when she stopped me, but didn’t report me. She taught me how to cook with the food I grabbed since I could barely read the instructions when she found me." He wanted to kill the royal wolf family for the way they treated her. Maximus never seemed this cruel nor did the king and queen, but boy was he being told differently.

"I am sorry you were treated that way. No one should have to commit a crime for their next meal. It probably wouldn’t have been much different here. I would have led you to Trinee sooner and her family. They are good people."

Dimitri smiled as they stopped in front of a very fancy restaurant. Lily looked down at herself then back at him and said, "There is no way they are letting us in there looking like this." Lily knew places like this had a strict dress code policy."

Dimitri smirked thinking his status should get them in. "Lets find out." Keeping her arm tucked in his Dimitri walked purposely to the entrance of the restaurant. Walking in the were immediately met with a host. "Welcome to the Royal Dragon where we have a strict dress code. You can’t come in looking like this. Come back when you have some class."

Lily covered her mouth trying not to laugh knowing she was right. Dimitri growled saying, "You sure have guts speaking to me that way. Or is a Royal Prince not considered classy enough for you?" Dropping his hood the host looks unfazed at his action.

"And which Prince would you be? I have met them all personally?" The host puffing his chest out as if he knew all the members of the Dragon Royal family. Dimitri keeping his cool said, "The second prince. Now let us pass." The host looked him up and down shaking his head. "No. You can’t be. You’re filthy with raggedy clothes. How could you be the second prince?"

This man’s arrogance was getting on Dimitri’s last nerve when Lily leaned in to whisper in his ear. "Lets just go. I have hot food sitting back in my room." She tried to pull him away, but he didn’t budge. Lily looked at him confused when the First Prince walked in with his entourage. * F*****ck.* Was all Lily could think seeing a bad situation turning to worse.

They watched the First Prince walking in dressed with the finest silks and jewels of royalty. His entourage was dressed similarly, the Lady Scarlett with them dressed in a deep red form fitting dress that sparkled. Lily leaned close to Dimitri whispering in his ear. "Now if we had come in looking like that there would have been no problem."

Dimitri gave her a annoyed look as his brother approached them. "Well, well. It is greatly surprising to see you here and with your new researcher no less." The First Prince commented releasing his fan lightly fanning himself.

"She wanted to see the city and as she only knows a small group of people here I felt it my duty to show her around." Dimitri responded keeping Lily close to him. Lily didn’t like the way the fist prince was looking at her even with Lady Scarlett on his arm. As if she was a new target for him to capture.

"Did she now? Well I’m sure one of her fellow researchers would have showed her or better yet the Lady Scarlett would have been more then happy to oblige her." The First Prince offered the Lady in question stiffly nodding her head in agreement.

Dimitri knew his brother was trying to get a rise out of him, but Lily held him back pleading with her eyes. "Let’s just go. I’m sure there are other places we can eat at." Dimitri did not want to be seen as less then his brother, but he didn’t need to force the situation if this wasn’t what Lily wanted. "Going so soon, brother. WE had hoped you would join us." The First Prince’s laugh taunted his brother knowing this would diminish his reputation.

"The Ward of the Wolf Clan was known to stay in the palace all her life, so showing her around the city would have been educational experience." Lady Scarlett knew the comment had the desired effect watching Lily’s face. Lily got the feeling she would have ended up killing this b*tch if she had went to her for ANY reason.

Being far more gracious then Lady in question Lily knows just how to handle this crazy dragon. "I thank you for the kind offer, but I am anti social as it is. You showing me anything would have hurt my Clan causing major problems. I think it best that we keep our distance from each other."

Lady Scarlett gasped in offense reaching back to slap Lily as she began shouting at her. "Who do you think you are speaking to me that way?! I am to be the next queen! Show some respect!" Lily waited for the blow to land having closed her eyes and turned her head, but she felt nothing. fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm

Just before the blow landed Dimitri reached out grabbing her arm throwing it back causing the Lady to stumble into the First Prince. "Touch her even once and I’ll end you." The Lady started to cry from having her arm thrown pleading with the First Prince to come to her aid. "Do something! They are insulting the Royal Dragon family! How can you stand for this?!"

The First Prince having watched the whole interaction with interest had enough stepping in. "Keep you b*tch in line. We don’t need stray dogs biting important guests. Come my dear, these pests have taken enough of our time." Walking past the host, who let them through, led them to their seats as the group snickers at them as the pass.

Dimitri looked pissed after hearing his brother speak of Lily that way. In that moment Lily’s "give a damn" broke as she turned to Dimitri. "You want to show them up?" He nodded yes as Lily dragged him out of the restaurant to the fanciest looking shop she seen ready to up grade their style.
