Chapter 41: Dungeon Interlude (1)

As Adrian slowly blinked his eyes open, he felt something soft beneath his head. Ignoring that, Adrian’s attention went to the glowing texts floating in front of his eyes.

’Looks like I got it after all...’

Rubbing his eyes, he realised he was naked, and so was Sophia. Their clothes lay on the beach, drying in the sun. While his head rested on her bare thighs, the softness he felt was from her.

"Nothing can beat the comfort of a thigh pillow," Adrian chuckled but stopped abruptly.

Remembering what happened beneath the sea, Adrian’s hand shot up to his face. Relief washed over him as he confirmed the deformity was gone. The Blighted Skeleton’s skull had been replaced by his own, thanks to the troll blood he’d received.

"Fucking hell! It worked!" he said with a strange relief in his voice.

Breathing a sigh of relief, Adrian’s gaze shifted to Sophia’s face, her eyes closed in sleep. She must have been exhausted after saving him from drowning while he absorbed the troll’s blood.

She had saved him, and that was enough for Adrian to push aside the things she’d hidden from him. But only for now. He would eventually need answers from her, but for now, he was happy with where they were.

Wanting to wake her, Adrian raised his hand to caress her cheek. But his foggy mind led his hand astray, and it ended up in her cleavage instead.

Sophia’s eyes flew open, startled, and without a second thought, she used her wind magic to blow Adrian away, thinking some monster was touching her.

"What the hell?" Sophia exclaimed, covering her bare chest. "Who’s there!?"

"Sophia!" Adrian yelped as he tumbled backwards, landing with a thud in the sand.

Sophia gasped, covering her mouth with her hand. "Adrian! I-I thought... I’m so sorry!"

Adrian raised a thumb to show he was okay despite his head buried in the sand. Thankfully, he was there with Sophia and not someone else, showing off his bare ass.

"It’s... it’s alright," he mumbled, spitting out a mouthful of sand. "Also, it’s good to see that casting time for your spells has significantly reduced."

"Stop talking about it, you idiot!" Sophia rushed over, helping him and brushing the sand off his face.

"Besides, this isn’t the first time I, you know, groped you accidentally,"

Adrian said with a sly smile, remembering the time he was summoned three years ago and accidentally grabbed Sophia’s breasts the moment he woke up.

"If you got a death wish, you just gotta say the word..." she trailed off, her cheeks flushing with embarrassment.

"Thanks for the offer, but no thanks!" Adrian grinned sheepishly, shaking his head. "Should we get dressed or..."

"Y-Yeah, we should."

They both sat in awkward silence for a moment, the sound of waves crashing against the shore filling the air.

"I’m glad you’re okay," Sophia finally said, breaking the silence. "I was so worried when you didn’t come from the sea. I thought the trolls got the-" freēnovelkiss.com

"Shh..." Adrian put a finger on her lips and smiled, grateful for her concern. "It’s alright. I shouldn’t have caused any worries to you. Besides, thanks for saving me... "

"I gave you my word, didn’t I?" Sophia smiled softly, her eyes sparkling with relief as she buried her head in his chest. "I’ll always be here to save you, Adrian. No matter what."

Sophia had momentarily overlooked it, but now, seeing Adrian again, she noticed that his deformity had vanished. His head had returned to its original state. But Adrian saw her eyes lingering on his head and immediately responded as if he didn’t know anything.

"Is there something on my face?" he asked.

"No... but your head, it’s back to normal!" Sophia replied, cupping his head and moving it around to check if it was real.

"Is it?" Adrian acted surprised and touched his head to confirm Sophia’s words. "It is! How did it happen!?"

Sophia shot him suspiciously, but before she could voice her thoughts, Adrian swiftly changed the topic, "Hey, we defeated the boss monster, but why isn’t the exit appearing?"

Sophia pointed his attention to the timer, showing they had a few of hours left before the dungeon exit would appear. It was rare, but sometimes, upon killing the boss monsters, a break period was given to dungeon divers to recuperate and hunt additional monsters.

Adrian hadn’t been in such a situation before, so he was unaware of the bonus time given to them. But once he knew about it, he wanted to gain as many experience points and loot drops as possible. But Sophia was there to rain on his parade.

"We’ve got some time," Adrian suggested. "Let’s go hunt some monsters."

Sophia smirked, "I already took care of most of it while you were unconscious."

"What... well, I was unconscious, so I don’t have the right to complain," Adrian nodded, but then he remembered something. "Wait, you attacked me earlier, thinking I was a monster. Why did you attack me if you had already dealt with all the monsters?"

"Uh, well, it was a reflex," Sophia hesitated, avoiding eye contact. "Besides, you know I’m sensitive there!"

Hearing her response, Adrian raised an eyebrow.

"Okay, fine," Sophia sighed. "Maybe I overreacted a bit."

Adrian grinned, "You attacked me just for fun, didn’t you?"

"N-no, it wasn’t like that." Sophia tried to evade his gaze again.

Tired of not getting a straight answer, Adrian playfully grabbed Sophia by her waist and pinned her to the ground. Both of them shared a smile, but as their eyes locked, the playful atmosphere took a turn. In the next moment, Sophia hungrily kissed Adrian.

As the kiss deepened, clothes started coming off, forgotten in the heat of the moment. The initial playfulness shifted to a more intense connection as they explored each other, the sand beneath them providing a natural, comfortable bed as the two dived to relive the familiar feeling they both had been craving.
