Chimaera's Conquest: The Legend Of The Devourer-Chapter 307: Siege (2)
Chapter 307: Siege (2)
Usually, no ranker would pay attention to the third-floor trial. But this time, a high-ranker was watching the fight through a special stream. It was no ordinary ranker, but a literal god. A titan whose strength was only matched by his siblings.
"So the culprit is alive..." Poseidon sighed. "I am disappointed in you, Bell."
Bellerophon, under the pressure of the endless seas, couldn’t even look up to see his father while his siblings surrounded him. He had sworn that he had dealt with the culprit from the poachers’ saga, but it turned out to be untrue. Bellerophon looked up and saw his father staring back at him.
Poseidon was tall, making him tower over the others in the room. His broad shoulders and muscular build spoke of immense strength, honed from aeons of ruling the vast oceans.
Poseidon had an unforgettable face, with sharp features that appeared sculpted from marble. His deep blue eyes held the wisdom and anger of many storms.
His firm jaw and perfectly arched eyebrows made him look both royal and intimidating. His dark, wavy hair flowed like the ocean’s currents, flowing around his face and falling to his broad shoulders.
He wore a tunic of deep blue, edged with silver, that clung to his form and moved with the grace of flowing water. A trident, tall and majestic, rested in his hand, its prongs glistening with an eerie light.
By his side was Triton, his favoured son and the one who had informed Poseidon about Bellerophon’s lie. Being a merman and Poseidon’s son, Triton had the blessing to breathe both in air and underwater, an ability most of Poseidon’s children had... but Bellerophon did not.
Poseidon glared at Bellerophon and said in his booming voice. "You thought you could trick me? Do you think I’m that easy to deceive?"
"No... father..." Bellerophon replied, struggling to breathe under the pressure of the seas.
Triton had warned all of his siblings to under his thumb. But Bellerophon tried defying the long-standing hierarchy by trying to win over their father.
He would have succeeded had it not been for the spies Triton had planted within Bellerophon’s faction.
"You’re such a fool, Bellerophon!" Triton said. "If you had just been honest, we could have avoided this entire mess."
"If only you had asked your siblings for help, that mortal would have been dead a long time ago, and we could have continued our plan to take over the initial floors. But because you wanted to stand out, you created this disaster!"
Bellerophon stared daggers at Triton, acting all sweet and innocent. It was because of that pure-bred fucker that he was in such a mess and he dared act all goody-two shoes in front of their father?
Unfortunately, there wasn’t much Bellerophon could do in the situation. Despite Triton’s plotting, it was his negligence that caused the problem, and before he could fix it, Triton revealed the truth to Poseidon, who wasn’t pleased with him.
"Enough!" Poseidon shouted, slamming his trident onto the floor. "Wailing about the problems won’t fix anything."
"Don’t worry, Father," Triton said, kneeling before Poseidon. "I’ve already got a plan in place."
Poseidon raised an eyebrow. He had always held high hopes for Triton, but Bellerophon’s mistake caused him to lose faith in all his offspring. Still, he asked Triton what he wished to do.
Triton smiled and said, "Most enemies fighting against the mortal are from Olympus. They would stay on the floor, intentionally dying after defeating the mortal."
He continued, "In that manner, they would stay on the floor and keep killing the mortal during the trial until he gave up. Once he’s out of the tower’s protection, killing him would be a piece of cake."
Poseidon was doubtful such a plan would work. But he gave Triton the benefit of the doubt. After all, he had never failed before and even if he did, Poseidon could always think of ways to deal with a mortal.

As soon as the test started, all members of Olympus got a message from Triton.
Kill the mortal known as Arnold Ling.
The members did not know what the guy had done to Olympus. But if someone like Triton commanded them to eliminate him, the guy must have committed an unforgivable act.
Amongst the 287 players on the second team, two hundred belonged to Olympus. They were enough to deal with the mortal. Even if Arnold (Adrian) had shown significant strength, fighting hundreds of players would be impossible.
Triton’s plan was simple yet effective. Unfortunately, he didn’t know fighting against the numbers was Adrian’s strength.
As soon as the second counter hit zero, everyone charged towards the first team’s castle. They were confident in their victory, but not for long.
"We’re almost there!" shouted one of the leaders, urging his comrades forward.
Suddenly, the ground beneath their feet shifted. Sharp spikes erupted from the earth without warning, skewering many players instantly.
"What’s happening?" one player screamed, trying to avoid the deadly spikes.
The once orderly charge turned into a chaotic scramble as players dodged the traps.
"Watch out!" yelled another as a row of spikes shot up in front of him, narrowly missing his legs.
A moment later, the trees around the castle seemed to come alive, branches snapping and twisting into deadly traps. All of those were traps Adrian had learned about during his time in the Wilderness and didn’t think he would ever get to put those skills to use.
While the army was in chaos, a figure appeared amongst them like a wraith. He moved through the ranks of players, cutting them down without any hesitation.
"Who is that?" one player gasped, trying to rally his friends. But had his throat sliced a second later. freёwebnoѵel.com
Adrian ran through the enemies, his blade found its mark with lethal accuracy, each strike bringing down another player.
Some of the braver players landed blows on him, but instead of weakening him, the blood that flowed from Adrian’s wounds transformed into a thick, poisonous fog.
"Don’t breathe it in!" a player warned, but it was too late.
The fog spread quickly, and those who inhaled it choked and blood drizzled out of their eyes and mouths, their faces turning pale as the poison took effect. They dropped to the ground, lifeless, and it was just the beginning.
