’No ding dongs or balls this time?’

<Did master want those?>

’...no.’

Despite the funky names, the balls and ding dong had quite useful properties. Besides, since he was going up against literal gods, he would need everything he could get his hands on. Even if it meant abandoning his dignity and swapping some biological stuff...

’Even the family jewels?’

With the organs displayed before him, the choice was obvious. He didn’t need detoxification or night vision. Besides, a skill that would ignore all defence and armour seemed the right choice to go with.

Adrian sat down, leaning against the chamber wall. He took a deep breath and focused his mind. He had done this before with other parts, but it never got any easier. Without another thought, Adrian touched the horns and began assimilating them.

’This is going to hurt like a bitch.’

A moment later, his chimaera body began absorbing the foreign material. The pain was immediate and intense. Adrian gritted his teeth, trying not to scream. It felt like his skull was being split open as the horn fused with his head.

His vision blurred, and he could feel his pulse pounding in his ears. He clenched his fists, his nails digging into his palms as he fought through the agony.

After what felt like an eternity, the first horn was fully absorbed. Adrian’s head throbbed, and he could feel the extra weight of the horn jutting out from his skull. He took a few moments to recover before starting on the second horn.

After a moment, he repeated the process. The pain was just as excruciating, if not worse. Adrian’s body trembled, and sweat poured down his face. He could feel the horn pushing through his skin, merging with his bone.

His time he couldn’t hold back and yelled, knowing it might attract more monsters, but the pain was too much for him to care about all that. Thankfully, instead of being attracted to his harrowing screams, they scared the monsters, since they thought it was the Minotaur making those noises.

Finally, the second horn was absorbed. Adrian collapsed against the wall, panting. His entire body was shaking, and the pain was still fresh in his mind, but receding slowly.

He could feel the new horns on his head, heavy and strong. They were white with red edges, giving him a fierce and deadly look. Adrian slowly got to his feet. His steps were unsteady.

He walked to the Minotaur’s pool of blood and looked at his reflection. The horns looked strange on his forehead, but he could feel his strength rising.

<Master looks strange... yet weirdly attractive.>

’...thanks for the compliment, I guess?’

Adrian shook his head and gathered whatever he could from the Minotaur’s body. It felt strange, not because of the horns, but because he didn’t mind losing another piece of his humanity.

"I don’t think I care about being human anymore..."

Adrian quickly pushed that strange thought away. It was almost as if it wasn’t him thinking about giving up his humanity, but someone else trying to influence him.

Adrian then turned his attention to the treasure the Minotaur had been guarding. In the corner of the chamber, he saw a large, ornate chest. He approached it cautiously, the egg in his pocket vibrating with excitement.

Opening the chest, Adrian found a set of enchanted armour, a large sum of gold, and a mysterious scroll. The armour shimmered with a magical aura, and Adrian could feel its power just by touching it.

"This is what I’m talking about," he said with a grin, donning the armour.

Just like the dagger from before, Adrian could check the effects of the armour, but he decided to keep it either way. On Lucina’s advice, Adrian tried opening the skill scroll.

However, despite putting all of his strength into undoing the seal, Adrian could open the scroll. After a while, he placed the gold, and the scroll went into his inventory, and he made a mental note to study the scroll later.

Feeling invigorated, Adrian continued his journey through the maze. The egg guided him to more hidden chambers and treasures, each one guarded by a monster, but none of them were a match for the Minotaur.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Adrian saw a glimmer of light ahead. He followed it and found himself at the exit of the maze. He looked back. There were other paths that he had not taken, other treasures that remained buried.

But Adrian shook his head. He had had his fill with the maze. Besides, being overly greedy won’t do him any favours. With a final look, he was done with it.

"Time to move on," he said, stepping out of the maze once and for all.
