Chapter 300: Sacrificed To Poseidon

Adrian felt at the top of the world. He had lost, but he had gained a lot too. Most prized of them all was the new title bestowed on him.

[The Mortal Who Made a God Bleed].

It was a simple title. However, its effects were perfect for Adrian whowas destined to face entities within the tower.

’50% attribute and skill strength increase when facing entities. If I use it with [Beast Form], I can surpass the restrictions placed on it.’

Adrian looked back into the arena. Sun Wukong’s clone was also back on his feet and it almost made Adrian challenge the trial again. Unfortunately, everyone got a single chance to face the trials. There was no redoing it.

Ignoring the facts, Adrian focused on his remaining rewards.

On top of that, he received 40 stat points just from clearing the floor. It wasn’t a surprise that Felix told him to focus on clearing the floor instead of hunting monsters if he wanted to get stronger. Besides, clearing rewards were simply too good to pass on.

’Also, I finally hit level 50. I can take the second trial now.’

However, just as things were looking up, someone called his name. Adrian turned to see Bellerophon standing there.

’Shit!’

The look on the demigod’s face told Adrian everything he needed to know. Bellerophon must have found out about his involvement in the poacher incident and was there to deal with him.

But surprisingly, he didn’t look angry. His expression was unreadable, even for him and Lucina, and that made Adrian worried.

"Let’s have a chat," Bellerophon mumbled before walking away.

"I don’t think so," Adrian replied coyly. "As you can see, I’m injured. Treating my wounds takes precedence over a talk-"

Before Adrian could say everything he wanted, Bellerophon retrieved something from his inventory and threw it at Adrian. Adrian used [Analysis] on the flask of liquid and was shocked.

It wasn’t just a healing potion; it was an elixir of the finest quality. In Nexaria, even a low-level elixir was valuable enough to set someone up for life, never having to worry about anything again.

And Bellerophon handed him something ten times more precious as if it were just an ordinary rock. Adrian was stunned, not knowing how to react or why Bellerophon would do such a thing.

"Drink it," he commented. "It would take care of your injuries."

<I think he is in love, master~>

’Stop with your nonsense!’

Bellerophon stood there, waiting for Adrian to drink the potion and follow him. With no other options, Adrian gulped it down. To his surprise, it tasted quite nice, almost so good that he momentarily forgot about Bellerophon and the danger lurking around him.

The potion restored his stamina and boosted the healing effect of the troll’s blood. Thanks to that, Adrian felt better than ever before.

It was reassuring. He now felt more comfortable following Bellerophon. Even if things got dicey, Adrian would make a getaway without much difficulty.

They walked together, leaving the arena behind. Adrian had his senses on alert so he could escape at the slightest hint of foul play. But more than anything, he was curious about what Bellerophon had to say to stop now.

Just as they were about to exit the arena, a sudden whooshing sound caught their attention. A staff, the same one wielded by Sun Wukong’s clone, flew through the air and implanted itself in the ground right in front of Bellerophon.

The Olympian stopped abruptly, and let out a sigh of annoyance. He turned to face the clone, who stood with a mischievous grin as usual.

"Don’t do anything stupid with that mortal," the clone warned, his tone mockingly playful. "If you do, I’ll be forced to call my actual body and teach Poseidon’s bratty son a lesson. Since we already have an audience here, I’m sure they would love to watch another show."

Bellerophon’s eyes narrowed with fury. He cracked his knuckles, the cracking noise echoing through the arena. Safe to say, he didn’t have the greatest relationship with Sun and it made Adrian wonder if something had happened between the two of them to act like that.

"Sit back quietly, monkey bastard, or else the consequences will be quite bad." Bellerophon snarled.

"Oh, I’m so scared!" The clone taunted him. "Did you forget about the penalty?"

"Penalty?" Adrian asked and the admin was more than happy to clear his doubts.

"To maintain fairness and give the newbies a fair chance to grow and evolve, a penalty is placed upon high rankers. Attacking a player of a lower rank would subject them to an insane amount of pain."

The admin continued, "They might not go down for landing one blow, but it will hurt. A lot and might even destroy their promising future within the tower."

Despite all that, Bellerophon was seething, his muscles tensed up as he prepared for a fight. He took a step forward, his fists clenched. The clone’s casual demeanour only seemed to infuriate Bellerophon more.

Just as Bellerophon was about to launch himself at the clone, a sudden flash of light appeared between them. The admin pushed them apart.

"This is not the place for your drama," the admin said, his voice calm but firm. "Save it for the higher floors. And you, your job is done here, so leave before I lose I cool!"

Bellerophon glared at the admin but didn’t argue. He knew better than to challenge the authority of the admin in such a public setting. The clone, on the other hand, smirked and leaned on his staff, clearly enjoying the situation.

"Tsk, you’re no fun..." the clone showed the admin his tongue before disappearing.

Adrian watched the exchange in silence. The admin told him about the penalties and restrictions placed on higher-ranked players to ensure fairness, but he had hoped to see it in action. Maybe some other day he would get the opportunity to see that.

The admin turned to Bellerophon. "You had something to discuss with Adrian. Finish your business and move on. There are other matters that require my attention. So don’t waste my time."

Bellerophon nodded curtly. One could see he was still angry. However, it was in control as he turned towards Adrian.

"Let’s go. There’s much to discuss."

They continued walking, leaving the arena behind and entering a quieter part of the complex. Bellerophon led Adrian to a secluded room, where they could speak privately. He closed the door behind them and turned to face Adrian.

"I’m sure you’re wondering why I brought you here," Bellerophon began, he sounded more relaxed now that they were away from the prying eyes of the arena.

Adrian nodded. "Yes, I am." free𝑤ebnovel.com

Bellerophon sighed and ran a hand through his hair. Sun Wukong had completely ruined his plan. Earlier, he had planned to blackmail Adrian into joining Olympus by threatening him.

But thanks to the big mouth of the admin, Adrian now knew that Bellerophon couldn’t touch him without facing serious consequences. So, Bellerophon had to abandon his plan of threatening Adrian and take the usual scouting route instead.

Adrian almost reading his mind quickly raised his hand, "Look, I’m not joining any faction. At least not a faction like Olympus."

"...may I ask why?" Bellerophon asked, taken aback by the mortal’s bluntness. "Joining Olympus would push you into ranks beyond your feeble imagination."

"That’s the thing. I don’t care about all that."

"What? Why are you doing inside the tower if power and strength aren’t your goal?"

"I’m looking for my family," Adrian said, putting on a performance. "My mother went missing somewhere within the tower. I’m here to find her. That’s why I don’t want to join any factions as it would only make my life difficult."

Upon hearing Adrian’s answer, Bellerophon was taken aback. As someone who had a complex relationship with his mother, he could understand Adrian’s pain.

But even so, there wasn’t much he could do about it. The choices he had been given by his father were clear. Either make the mortal join their faction or kill him, and his words were absolute for him.

The mortal had to die.

"Tsk, I didn’t want it to come to this..."

With a snap of his fingers, the room began flooding with water. Adrian was taken by surprise, but before he could react, Bellerophon threw a suspicious powder in his face and it made him dizzy.

"Unfortunately, the penalty only protects you from direct physical harm," Bellerophon said as Adrian collapsed. "It can’t save you from natural causes... like drowning. But don’t worry. I’ll find your mother and send her to join you soon."

After finishing what he had to say, Bellerophon opened the door. He took one last look at Adrian before stepping outside. The door closed firmly behind him, sealing the room tightly and not letting a single drop of water escape.

"Make sure he dies inside," he instructed the guys standing outside the room. "If he escapes, then it would be your turn to die."
